Chapter 39 - Off To Underwood

Ren adjusted the straps on his bracers as he stepped to the middle of the tent.

The campfires outside burned low, the embers flickering like tiny stars on the ground. The aftermath of the raid had left the camp weary, but it also meant one thing. No one would be looking for or paying attention to him tonight.

Thorn, who sat on a nearby chair, sharpening his sword, glanced up with a smirk. "Off to your secret rendezvous?"

Two years ago, he had become strong enough to teleport to the coin he had left with Lilith and had been visiting her ever since. 

He always timed his visits after raids, as the barbarians wouldn't attack so soon after a raid. Coupled with the general weariness, he wouldn't be missed. 

He rolled his eyes as he turned to Thorn. "You say it like it's some great affair for the history books."
