Chapter 39: Kujo Sara Wants to Silence Someone
Even though Kamisato Ayato saw his sister resting on the lap of a strange man, his defenses didn't break.
Because something even more desperate had already happened.
Just as Linghua had mentioned, the eternal dream had indeed appeared—and it had appeared so quickly.
Despite all of Kamisato Ayato's preparations, who could have predicted that just one day would be enough for General Raiden's dream to cover all the people of Inazuma? Even Ayato himself couldn't leave Inazuma with his family in such a short time.
"Good morning, Linghua."
Kamisato Ayato smiled at his sister, though his greeting was tinged with bitterness.
"Brother, this is..."
Linghua's gaze shifted from her brother to Su Ran, and her intuition told her that something big had happened. As for what kind of big thing, she could guess from her brother's expression.
Could it be that Lord Su Ran had directly proposed marriage?
Kamisato Ayaka felt a little nervous. Though still young, she knew that in most large families, she would already be of marrying age.
"Nothing. I was just having a conversation with my brother-in-law, but he might not be very satisfied with Inazuma's current situation," Su Ran said, once again provoking Kamisato Ayaka's limits.
"Brother-in-law?" Kamisato Ayaka clenched her fists. Even though Su Ran was powerful, the Kamisato family was no pushover. If things went badly, she would rather die than be humiliated.
"So, this is what it was about..." Kamisato Ayaka let out a breath of relief. She had feared her brother didn't approve of her relationship with Lord Su Ran, but it seemed her worries were unfounded.
She quickly shook off her nerves, trying to clear her mind. Her brother was clearly in a bad mood; she couldn't afford to seem relieved now.
"So what is your brother worried about? I'm sure Lord Su Ran and Lord General will be able to solve Inazuma's dilemma."
Ayato sighed. "No... it's not important anymore."
He had little energy to continue resisting. If this had been during the Eye Hunting Order period, their resistance would have been to correct the gods' mistakes, not to oppose them directly. But now, it was different.
If they resisted now, it would be a direct challenge to the gods. And with the entire dream controlled by the three gods, defying it would be like handing over one's life—essentially courting death.
At least Kamisato Ayato had no means to break this dream. This was a world created by the gods.
Su Ran, observing Kamisato Ayato's disheartened expression, didn't want to deepen his despair.
Gods? There were always creatures on earth brave enough to challenge the power of thunder. But facing something created by the genius of these gods? Even if mortals spent their entire lives, they would never be able to touch it.
Will and faith might allow people to fight against gods, but how could they fight against wisdom so far beyond their understanding?
Kamisato Ayato, like the others, was unaware of the weakness of the dream. Even the Traveler, waiting for Su Ran, was in the dark. Only Su Ran, as the creator, could deliberately guide the dream to shatter it. But in that process, they would face real demon gods.
Looking at the joy in Ying's heart, it was clear that even if she could only impose her will on Inazuma's people, she couldn't give up on this dream. The return of thunder and lightning had made Ying even more reluctant to abandon it.
A true Thunder God. Who could resist such power head-on?
"Since Lord Su Ran is interested in my little sister, I suppose I should ask—when can I expect the wedding wine?" Kamisato Ayato changed the subject, resigned to the inevitable. They had reached an irreversible conclusion now, so it was better to immerse themselves in it. After all, this was a creation of the gods. How miraculous it was.
"Brother!" Kamisato Ayaka blushed with both shame and anger. If it weren't for the fact that Su Ran and Kujo Sara were present, she would have scolded her brother.
How could they progress so quickly? At the very least, they should have started with something as simple as holding hands.
"Ayaka, you're not a child anymore. Don't lose your temper when you're with Lord Su Ran in the future."
But the more Kamisato Ayato said this, the more depressed Ayaka became.
"I haven't lost my temper," she sighed. But secretly, she had been contacting the resistance army in the background. Wasn't that losing her temper? She had to be careful. If her actions were found out, it could lead to disaster for the Kamisato family.
But that no longer mattered.
"Master, Sara has something important to report," Kujo Sara interjected, sensing that Kamisato Ayato and Su Ran were discussing something not too serious.
"What is it?" Su Ran asked, turning his attention to Sara, wondering what could be so urgent.
The head of the Kujo family had been arrested. Sara likely didn't know about that yet. After all, it had happened just yesterday.
"The leader of the frontline resistance army, the living god priestess of Haiji Island, proposed a request for peace talks. She wishes to have a dialogue with... the Lord God."
The request from Coral Palace Xinhai for peace talks was so bizarre that Kujo Sara couldn't make a decision on her own. That was why she had returned to the castle tower yesterday.
"Why didn't you mention this yesterday?"
"Peace talks? What peace talks? If even the resistance doesn't resist, wouldn't Inazuma fall into a happy ending directly?" Kamisato Ayato responded with disbelief.
"Yesterday... you and Miss Linghua left too fast, and I didn't have time to speak. Then, at night, I fell asleep for a while, so..."
Sara felt embarrassed. The moment she woke up and realized she was leaning on Su Ran, she was mortified. Thankfully, nothing had happened, and she wasn't held accountable.
But when Kamisato Ayato looked at her, his glare had been intense. She even considered silencing him to keep things quiet.
It was because of this experience that when Kamisato Ayaka woke up, she found Sara in such an embarrassed state.
