Chapter 8 - Volume 2. Chapter 4. Quiet days. Part 3. The Finale

When I got home, I looked at the time, it was already 8 p.m. When Canoe changed his clothes, went to wash and ate, the clock showed 10. "Now you can go for a ride." - thought Canoe and put on a pair of overalls, which he bought himself after his birthday.

When I got on the road, I noticed that there were still a lot of cars driving, so it was too early to drive at full speed. But after driving for about an hour, he saw that there were almost no cars and now he could accelerate. After speeding up, he began to ride around the city and have fun, after a while he got tired and decided to take a break, stopping at a convenience store, where he met Kai and Mika.

- I didn't expect to see you here, and I certainly didn't expect to find out that you have a bike. Kai said as Canoe took off his helmet and waved at them.

"Wow,– Miku said briskly.

- Did you go grocery shopping? Canoe asked, noticing the packages in Kai's hands.

- Yeah, Miku wanted to cook something for the night looking. – Kai said, smiling. – So we decided to shop, but where did you go?

- Yes, I'm just riding, getting the necessary dose of adrenaline, so to speak. Canoe replied.

- So why don't you take Mika for a ride? She's always at home doing her homework. Kai asked, and Miku immediately elbowed him in the shoulder. "Well, what about it?"

"If she's not afraid of speed, then why not,– Canoe said. – I'll just have to wait a little while until I get the second helmet, that's if she goes, of course.

"Will you go?" Kai asked, looking at Mika.

- Yes, I would be glad. Miku replied, smiling at Canoe.

"Okay, wait for me a bit. Canoe said, smiling back. "I'll be quick."

It took the canoe just a couple of minutes to get home, get a helmet and come back. When he arrived, Miku and Kai were sitting on a bench near the store.

- Wow, how fast. – Miku was surprised.

- Do you want to become a racer? Kai asked, surprised at the speed of the Canoe's movement.

- No, it's just much more pleasant this way. Canoe replied, laughing. – Well, let's go?

- yes. Miku said with a smile, approaching the Canoe.

- To be at home at 11! Kai said loudly, standing up from the bench and putting his hands on his hips.

- Brother, I'm going to hit you now. Miku said calmly, taking the helmet Canoe handed her.

- Okay, okay, I was just kidding, have a nice trip. – Kai said, smiling. – Be careful.

- of course. She'll be safe with me. Canoe replied, putting on his helmet.

- OK. Miku said, putting on her helmet and getting on the motorcycle, hugging the back of the Canoe.

The trip turned out to be very pleasant and interesting for both Miku and Canoe. He was curious to watch her after they made a stop near the river. Her face was alight with joy and curiosity.

"What do you think?" Canoe asked.

- I am very pleasantly surprised! I really like it! Miku replied. – I've never been on a motorcycle before.

"I'm glad to hear it. Canoe said with a smile. – Let's take you home, it's getting late, and we have to study tomorrow.

"You're right. Miku replied, glancing at the night sky. – Thank you for such a pleasant time!

- Apply. – Canoe said, starting the motorcycle. - We can go for a ride tomorrow, if you want.

- Of course! Miku answered without hesitation.

- Well, that's settled, and now show me where to go. Canoe said, handing Mick the helmet.

After taking Mika home, Canoe decided to go home himself.

(At the same time, at Hisoko's house.

"Oh, have you arrived yet?" Where's the Canoe? Kai asked when he saw Mika. – I thought you would invite him to visit us, I cooked something to eat.

- He went home. Miku replied. – We have to study tomorrow, it's time for bed. And it would be rude to invite him when we know each other so little.

"Oh, right. – Kai said, glancing at his watch and putting the joystick away from the console.

- Brother, do you know much about Canoeing? Miku asked, pouring herself a cup of tea.

- Well, I wouldn't say that there's a lot, just relatively. Kai replied after thinking for a while. – I know for sure that he has a best friend from your class and a childhood friend from parallel.

"A childhood friend?" Miku asked. "She's not his girlfriend?"

- Nope, although they get along well and look good together. Kai replied, looking at Mika, who sat down at the table and drank tea thoughtfully. "Did you like it?"

"Not that I really liked it," Miku said, still thinking about something. – I am interested in him, I would like to get to know him better.

- So go on a date, what's the problem. – Kai was surprised. - he seems to me to be a quick-witted and pleasant person.

"Well… We agreed to go for a ride tomorrow. Miku said softly. "Does this count as a date?"

"Quite." Kai said, smiling a sly smile, and then returned to the game. – Go ahead, little sister, I'll hold my fists for you.

- Thanks, I guess. Miku said, not understanding what Kai meant.

At that time, Canoe had already eaten and gone to bed, and Manhiro and Han had just arrived home.)

The rest of the week passed quietly, after Canoe lessons, Mari and Harita came home to Canoe, studied and played games, and in the evening Canoe and Miku rode a bike around the city. Monday arrived so quickly and unnoticeably.

- Well, are you ready to become the vice-head? Kai asked when Canoe arrived at the student council office.

- Thank you for your trust. Canoe replied, sitting down opposite Kai. – But I don't think I'm suitable for this position. First, it takes a lot of effort, and I'm diligent, but not that diligent. Secondly, the vice-head needs to devote a lot of time to the student council, and I practically don't have it anyway. It may sound selfish, but I'm not ready to sacrifice my free time for the student council.

- Well, it's a pity, of course, but that's about the answer I expected. – Kai said with a smile. - That's why Miku recruited a girl from your class last Thursday.

- So you have already resolved the issue with the position of vice head? Canoe asked. "Then why didn't you tell me right away?"

- My brother wanted to hear exactly how you describe the reason for your refusal. Miku replied, glaring at Kai.

"I'm sorry I didn't warn you right away," Kai said, sensing Miku's gaze. – I have one more suggestion for you.

"What's that?" Canoe asked.

- You're going to ride today, aren't you? –Why don't you come over for tea?"

"Is that how you want to apologize?" Canoe was surprised.

- And apologize, and strengthen friendship, if you can say so, and Miku will only be in favor, I'm right. Kai asked, looking at Mika, who was copying something from report to report.

- Well, I think it would be good. Miku replied, a little embarrassed.

- Well, if you invite me, then I agree. Canoe replied. – If there are no unforeseen circumstances, I will come to visit you after the trip today.

- That's settled. Kai said, smiling and extending his hand to Canoe.

- Agreed. Canoe said, returning the handshake.

In the late afternoon, when Hirata and Mari had gone home and Canoe was getting ready for the trip, Han called him over.

"Is something wrong, Uncle Han?" Canoe asked, approaching the Khan.

- Young Mr. Canoe, are you going to ride again today? Khan asked.

- yes. Canoe replied. – Do you need to buy something?

- No, not at all. I just wanted to tell you to be careful. They told me that there might be a lot of cars tonight. Khan replied suspiciously.

"Is that all?" Canoe was wary. – Is there any danger in cars?

"Not really. Khan said. – There is a possibility of gang fights in the city.

"Like what?" Canoe asked.

- Some bandits are newcomers, so they feel completely at ease here. Of course, we have sent a group of "pacifiers", but still be extremely careful. Han said, patting Canoe on the shoulder.

- Not a question. Canoe replied with a smile. – Something, but I can take care of myself, unless, of course, they are not armed.

- That's for sure. Khan said, smiling back.

After picking up Mika and taking a ride with her along the usual route for them, the guys stopped by the store to buy something for tea, but at the same time they noticed an unknown guy furiously arguing with the cashier. Miku approached them and tried to reason with the guy, but he just started insulting her and wanted to attack her, as Canoe was immediately grabbed and laid on the floor, after which Canoe told the cashier to call the police. After a while, the police detained the guy and took him to the department on suspicion of hooliganism. Canoe and Miku bought what they wanted and went to Hisoko's family home. Upon entering the house, Canoe and Miku saw Kai engaged in a game on the console, so much so that he did not even hear them. Miku quietly approached Kai and covered his eyes with her palm, causing Kai to scream and jump up on the couch.

"Oh, Canoe, Miku, you've come. – Kai said in surprise. "I thought you'd come back later."

- As you can see, we are already here. Miku said, sorting through the bags. – Can you imagine, some bully almost attacked me, but the Canoe arrived in time and protected me.

"A bully?" Kai asked seriously.

"Yeah,– Miku replied. – Then the police arrived and detained him.

Kai came over and shook Canoe's hand.

- Thank you for taking care of my little sister. – Kai said with a serious look.

"It's nothing. Canoe replied. –I told you she'd be safe with me."

"I'm sure of it now. – Well, now let's have some tea, I'm so hungry!

After tea and a short conversation, Canoe said goodbye to Miku and went outside, Kai followed him out.

- Thanks again for protecting Mika, Canoe. – Kai said, watching the Canoe get on the bike.

"You're welcome, Kai,– Canoe replied, smiling. – I think anyone would do that in my place.

- No, not everyone. Kai said, looking up at the sky. – As you noticed, Miku and I live together. Our father worked for hire in some gang, and my mother died a year after Miku was born. Dad worked late so that my sister and I didn't need anything, so we rarely saw each other during the day. We saw him either early in the morning when he left, or very late at night when he returned. And then one day, when we were older, my father didn't come home. As it turned out later, he stood up for some woman who was attacked by a group of bandits, my father fought well, but after being stabbed in the stomach, even his fighting skills did not help in any way ... The head of the gang in which my father was a member sent my sister and me a huge amount of money so that we could feed ourselves.

"I'm sorry," Canoe sympathized. – I understand what it's like to lose a loved one.

- Thank you, fortunately, everything is fine now, we have already recovered a little ... - Kai said with a sad smile. "What am I saying... that's right, canoe, you be careful too. What would happen if this man had a knife or a gun?

- To be honest, I didn't even think about it. Canoe said with a slight smile, scratching his head. – At that moment, I only had the desire to protect Mika.

"Do you like her?" Kai asked immediately.

- I think so. Canoe replied. – I enjoy talking to her and spending time with her, and I also consider her very beautiful.

"Then why don't you start dating?" Kai asked, looking at the Canoe with interest.

- When you like a person, that's one thing, but a relationship is something else entirely. I think it's too early to think about it now. Canoe replied.

"Why not?" Kai was surprised.

- I can't give you a detailed answer, but I have a feeling that now is not the right time. Canoe replied with a slight smile. – I think she and I need to "explore" each other for some more time.

- Yes, I think you're right. – Kai said with a smile and headed for the door of the house. "Okay, Canoe, good night."

"Good night, Kai,– Canoe said, putting on his helmet and starting the bike.

The road home was not very far, however, because of the thoughts of the Canoe, the journey took like an eternity. "How does Miku feel about me? Which gang was their father in? Why did Marie start showing signs of attention so often? What if Marie is really in love with me?" and similar thoughts flashed through his mind. However, anyway, I drove home, so I decided to take a contrast shower and go to bed.
