Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Class Transfer Ceremony Begins

Shenxia Empire, Jiangning Province, Xihai City.

On the vast playground of Xihai No. 1 Middle School, a team of professionals busily arranged a shimmering magic circle.

Today marked a significant milestone for over 100 senior students at Xihai No. 1 Middle School, as they would undergo the long-awaited class transfer ceremony.

The seniors sat in neat rows, their postures upright and expressions a mix of excitement and apprehension. On the podium stood Principal David, his gaze firm as he addressed the students with his usual calm authority.

"Students," David began, his voice carrying over the hushed whispers of anticipation, "after three years of rigorous study, each of you has mastered the theoretical knowledge required to take the next step in your journey. Today, you will undergo your class transfer, an event that will shape your futures and determine the paths you will walk from this day forward."

The students listened intently as David continued, "I sincerely hope that each of you can reach the heights of Morkel, a former student of our school, who became a Holy Mage and now stands as a level 80 legend—one of the brightest pillars of our human race."

David often referenced Morkel in his speeches, using the celebrated alumnus as a source of inspiration for his students.

Seated among the rows of students, Marsh gazed at the glowing magic circle being assembled on the playground. His dark eyes betrayed a hint of nervousness and curiosity. Having lived in this world for several years, Marsh was well aware of what lay ahead.

This world operated like a game—one where individuals transitioned to different classes during their final year of high school. Once transferred, they would embark on a journey to gain experience through clearing dungeons, conquering secret realms, fighting on battlefields, or hunting monsters in the wild.

With each experience gained, individuals leveled up, mastered new skills, and grew stronger. All of this was done to protect humanity from the relentless threats of demons and monsters that plagued the land. Countless sages had sacrificed their lives to secure a foothold for humanity, and today's students were expected to carry on that legacy.

The transfer ceremony had a 100% success rate, but the nature of the class each student received varied widely. The most coveted classes were the main combat roles, followed by supportive and auxiliary roles, with lifestyle classes ranking last in popularity.

However, Marsh knew that class alone didn't define a person's potential. A powerful individual could emerge from any role—whether it was combat, support, or lifestyle. There were countless examples of auxiliary or lifestyle classes achieving greatness.

With a dazzling ray of light shooting skyward, the transfer circle was finally complete.

David raised his hand, signaling the students to follow him. "Let's go," he commanded.

More than 100 seniors followed him toward the circle, their footsteps heavy with anticipation. Among them, Marsh walked silently, his mind racing with thoughts about his future. What class would he receive?

No one could predict their outcome. Some students, who seemed average, might receive powerful combat roles, while others, who were considered brilliant, might end up with less desirable lifestyle roles.

As Marsh pondered, a cheerful voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Hey, Marsh!" Kevin called, patting him on the shoulder. Kevin was one of the few students who frequently interacted with Marsh despite his reserved nature.

Marsh turned slightly to face Kevin but didn't respond.

Kevin grinned. "So, what class are you hoping for? Come on, don't leave me hanging!"

Marsh shook his head, offering a faint smile but remaining silent.

Unfazed, Kevin continued, "I'm aiming to become a knight. Just look at me—I've got the height and build for it, don't you think? If I get the knight class, I'll be unstoppable! I'll protect everyone, especially the girls," he added with a wink.

Marsh couldn't help but smile slightly at Kevin's enthusiasm.

Kevin's aspirations weren't unfounded. His sturdy physique was well-suited for a knight, one of the most desirable combat classes. However, the odds of receiving a main combat class were slim—only about 10% of students succeeded. Out of the 100 students present, fewer than 15 would likely receive such roles.

Despite Kevin's attempts to engage him, Marsh remained quiet. Kevin soon moved on to chat with other classmates.

As Kevin left, a group of students nearby whispered among themselves.

"What's Kevin wasting his time with Marsh for?" one muttered.

"Yeah, that guy never talks. He's so full of himself just because he has good grades," another added.

"I bet he'll end up with a lifestyle class," someone sneered.

Marsh overheard the comments but paid them no mind. He had grown used to being misunderstood by his peers. To them, his reserved demeanor came across as arrogance, but Marsh simply preferred solitude.

Kevin, overhearing the conversation, defended Marsh. "You guys don't get it. Marsh isn't stuck up; he just doesn't like talking much."

The others scoffed but didn't press the matter further.

When the group reached the magic circle, Principal David stepped forward and addressed an elderly man standing nearby.

"Master Kong, thank you for your assistance today," David said respectfully.

Master Kong, a level 52 Formation Master, nodded calmly. His status was on full display for all to see.

Marsh was slightly surprised. Formation Masters were rare and highly sought after, especially on battlefields where their skill in setting up deadly formations could turn the tide of war.

After exchanging pleasantries with Master Kong, David turned back to the students and pulled out a list.

"Students, I will now call your names one by one. Please step into the transfer circle when you hear your name. There's no need to be nervous—just relax and trust the process."

He glanced at the list and called the first name.

"Jack!"

A nervous-looking boy stepped forward and entered the glowing circle. The formation hummed to life, its brilliance intensifying for a moment before fading.

A line of text appeared above Jack's head:

[Lifestyle Class: Farmer]

The crowd murmured in response. Jack's face paled as he stepped out of the circle.

"Jack became a farmer?" someone whispered.

"Well, being a farmer isn't the worst. If he levels up to a Master Farmer or even a Holy Farmer, it could still be a respectable role," another student reasoned.

"True. Farmers are essential in life classes, and some of them are quite powerful," a third chimed in.

Despite the reassurances, Jack looked disheartened. He returned to the group, his head hung low.

As the ceremony continued, more students were called forward, each stepping into the circle to receive their fate. The results varied, with some receiving coveted combat roles while others were assigned to auxiliary or lifestyle classes.

Marsh waited patiently, his name still uncalled. Beside him, Kevin fidgeted nervously, his earlier confidence replaced with growing anxiety.

"Man, this is intense," Kevin muttered. "I hope I don't end up with something lame."

Marsh gave him a reassuring nod, though he remained focused on his own thoughts.

Finally, David called out, "Marsh!"

The murmurs among the students grew louder as Marsh stepped forward. Many were curious to see what class the quiet genius would receive.

Marsh entered the circle, the radiant light enveloping him. The hum of energy grew louder, and for a moment, the entire formation glowed with an intensity that surpassed all previous activations.

The crowd held their breath, waiting for the result.
