Chapter 1 - The Beginning of Change

It was the late 1980s in South Korea, a time when power, status, and money meant everything. The Jeon family stood at the top. Known for their immense wealth and influence, they controlled businesses, land, and political connections that ran deep throughout the country. Everyone knew their name, the Jeons were untouchable. Their grand mansion sat high on the hill, overlooking the city like a king watching over his kingdom. People whispered about their wealth and the secrets they guarded, but no one dared to challenge them.

The head of the family, Kavin Jeon, was a man of few words. His presence alone could silence a room. His wife, Elora Jeon, was known for her grace, but behind her calm eyes, people said she was the true power in the family. Together, they raised five children: the two oldest sons, Jeon Soo and Jeon Kwang, followed by Jeon Gguk, the third son. After him came Jeon Taeyang, and the youngest was their daughter Mina, only fifteen years old. Each of the sons held a place in the powerful Jeon empire, but it was Gguk who was chosen to marry Lali Harper.

Lali sat in her bedroom, staring out the window at the busy streets of Seoul. It was a far cry from the world she was about to step into. Her parents had arranged her marriage to Gguk, the third son of the most powerful family in Korea. She had barely met him, just once at a formal dinner where they exchanged little more than polite nods. Yet, tomorrow, she would become his wife.

Her mother knocked gently on the door before entering. "Lali, are you ready?" she asked, her voice soft but filled with concern.

Lali turned to face her, trying to smile. "Almost."

Her father stepped in behind her mother, holding a small box. He looked older than his years, the stress of sending his only daughter into a world so different from their own weighing on him. "This is for you," he said, handing her the box. Inside was a delicate necklace, simple yet beautiful.

"It was your grandmother's," her mother explained. "Wear it tomorrow. It'll remind you of home."

Lali's throat tightened as she took the necklace from her father's hand. "I'll miss you both so much," she whispered, her eyes glistening.

"We'll miss you too, sweetheart," her father said, pulling her into a tight hug. "But this marriage... it's a good thing. The Jeons are powerful, and they'll take care of you."

Her mother nodded, through her eyes held a worry that she couldn't hide. "You'll be fine, Lali. You're strong. Remember that."

Lali smiled weakly, but deep down, she felt the weight of the unknown pressing on her. The Jeons were not just any family, they were legends, with wealth and connections that seemed almost unreal. She had grown up hearing about their power, but now she was about to become a part of that world, and it scared her.

As she sat down on the edge of her bed, she replayed her parents' words in her mind. They had always done what they thought was best for her, but this time, it felt different. The Jeons were not an ordinary family. People said they held secrets, dark ones that no one dared to speak about. And tomorrow, she would enter their home as Gguk's wife.

"Everything will be fine," her father had said, but Lali wasn't so sure. She glanced at the necklace in her hand, the only piece of her past she would take with

with her into this new life. A life where wealth and power ruled over everything.

The next morning, the sun rose slowly over the city, casting a soft golden light on the towering Jeon mansion. The estate was massive, with tall gates, manicured gardens, and a driveway lined with black cars that symbolizes wealth and status. The Jeon family had built their fortune over generations, their businesses stretching from banking to real estate, and their connections ran deep into the government. They were the kind of family that others wanted to be part of, yet feared at the same time.

Inside the mansion, everything was pristine. Elora Jeon oversaw the household with a firm hand, ensuring that everything, from the finest china to the grand chandeliers, was perfect. Kavin Jeon rarely spoke, but when he did, everyone listened. His quiet authority filled every room, and his sons followed in his footsteps, each of them raised to be strong, powerful, and untouchable.

The two oldest sons were already managing large parts of the family's business empire, leaving Gguk to take on the role of expanding the family's influence in other ways. Taeyang, the younger brother, was still under his parents' guidance, while Mia, the youngest and only daughter, was always kept at a distance. She seemed to live in her own world, quiet and mysterious, yet protected fiercely by her mother.

Gguk, the third son, was different from his older brothers. Where they were loud and commanding, he was quiet and observant, his sharp eyes always watching. He wasn't as involved in the family businesses, but his role within the Jeon dynasty was just as important, he was to marry Lali Harper and strengthen the family's influence even
