The mundanity of life. Everyone lives their life a certain way. Every single human being has their routine and their way of living. Most of them live an ordinary, routine, and generally uninteresting life. I also wished for my life to be mundane. People don't realize the meaning something holds for them unless they lose it. Years ago, the same boring life felt like an insult to me. I wanted my life to be better, and be grandiose. But, alas, I was born to normal parents who had a normal life. But now I would kill to get a chance for everything to go back to the way it was. Or at least that's what I believe.
Ever since that day, I haven't really interacted with Mom. This also made me realize how one-sided our relationship had become. I couldn't remember a single time in the last two years when Mom had sought me out of her own accord. My life became mundane again, but not in the way I hoped. Every day, it was the same thing over and over: Cook, Eat, Study, Game, Sleep.
Cook, Eat, Study, Game, Sleep
That was all I had. My life had no other value other than those 5 things. And I consider myself to be happy with what I have. I don't think of myself as a complaining type. I use what's given without any strings attached. I knew myself that I was wallowing myself in self-pity. But I couldn't excuse myself from this. My brain knew that I was in a slump and I had to feel better but my heart, it didn't follow. So my days started going by like a blur. Every day overlapped with the next and I just kept smiling along the path. Until one day, something different happened. My days which had been passing by like a blur were brought to a stop at this point. It was when the new student of our classroom was announced.
"Introduce yourself to the classroom."
"Hello everybody. My name is Evana Rowe. I just recently moved here so I hope everyone will be nice to me. "
There she was. My new neighbor who I had looked at from afar once. Truthfully, I had forgotten all about her with everything happening lately. Then as was introducing herself, our eyes met. For a brief moment, I had a feeling that my life was about to change, that my mundane existence was about to become a whole lot more interesting.
"Choose any of the empty seats and make yourself comfortable, Evana."
"Okay ,ma'am."
She sat in front of me. She turned back and looked at me. My heart was fluttering. It was beating so hard that I felt it about to leap our of my chest. "You're my neighbor, aren't you? What's your name?" She asked. "I'm Benji." I replied sheepishly. Maybe it was because of my expression or my name, she let out a soft giggle, "Benji what?" I replied, "Benji Akihen." She said that it was a pretty unique name. That was where our conversation ended. I thought this would be our only interaction.
We were paired up together in the science lab.
