Chapter 6 - A love that should not be

Leon hovered silently in Eleana's room as the night stretched on. Her breathing was soft and steady, but his mind was restless. His eyes moved to the window, where the sky shimmered with countless stars. Yet, there was one star he couldn't take his eyes off—a faint, distant light barely visible among the others.

It was his star. Or at least, it had been.

Long ago, when he was a celestial guardian, that star burned bright in the heavens. It was tied to his existence, a symbol of his grace and purpose. But when he fell, the star dimmed, exiled from its place among the celestial spheres. Now, it hung low in the night sky, like a forgotten ember. Still, its faint glow brought him a small sense of hope—a reminder that his light wasn't entirely extinguished.

Leon glanced back at Eleana, who stirred slightly in her sleep. He knew that his star wasn't just tied to him. It had guided Eleana, its soft glow reaching her in her darkest moments. When she cried as a child, it was there. When she felt lost in her teenage years, it gave her comfort. And now, as she faced the burden of her arranged marriage, it continued to watch over her.

But Leon wasn't the only one who noticed the star. A shadow lingered outside the house, its dark presence hidden from mortal eyes. Victor stood beneath the tree line, his sharp gaze fixed on the same faint star. A wicked smile curled on his lips.

"So, your light still burns," Victor muttered, his voice low and venomous. "I wonder, Leon, how much longer it will last."

Victor turned his eyes toward Eleana's room, his expression darkening. She was the key to everything—the human who could tip the balance between light and darkness. And if Leon's star was tied to her, it made her all the more valuable.
