The next day. she calls her friend.

"JI-HYE IS STILL NOT ANSWERING WHY IS HER PHONE SWITCHED OFF."

"Should I call her parents? I don't want to seem clingy."

Ha-eun goes through her day not being able to think of anything else.

"Where is Ji-hye...…"

One of Ha-eun's classmates calls her out

"Hey Ha-eun"

"What is it? Oh hey Soyoung!"

"Hey, I haven't seen Ji-hye. have you heard from her?"

"Oh! that's why I'm worried! I haven't heard from her. Have you?"

"No, not at all."

"Strange, I thought she'd be here today."

"Maybe she's sick."

"I guess, but that's not like her."

"True, she's never missed a day of school."

"Well, I'm sure she's fine."

"Yeah, maybe she's just busy."

"Maybe, but you should check on her, just in case."

"Alright, I'll text her."

Soyoung texts Ji-hye

Soyoung : Ji-hye are you ok? Ha-eun has been messaging you non-stop since yesterday.

Soyoung: Are you sick?

Soyoung: Hey...….?

Soyoung goes to Ha-eun to tell her about she didn't get a reply

"You should probably call her parents."

"Yeah, I think I should."

"Let me know if you hear anything."

"Of course, thanks."

"Sure, no problem."

After school Ha-eun calls her friend's house.

"Hello! Auntie? Is Ji-hye home? Is she sick?"

".....Ha-eun??!? I thought she was at your place."

Ha-eun's heart drops

"...…?"

"Hello? She didn't come home. Isn't she with you?"

"HOW CAN AUNTIE BE SO IGNORANT ABOUT HER OWN CHILD? HOW CAN SHE BE SO CALM"

Ha-eun's body is shaking. Her vision is blurry.

"This has to be a joke. This is all a dream. This can't be real. Ji-hye would never leave without telling me."

"She would never."

"But it's true. She's missing."

"NO NO NO. NONONONONONO. NO"

"This isn't happening. I can't lose you."

"JI-HYE, PLEASE. ANSWER YOUR PHONE."

"PLEASE."

"PICK UP THE PHONE"

There. was. no. answer.

Ji-hye did not exist in her reality anymore.

The 3rd day. the search for her was going heavy

Her mother went insane, blaming herself. Her father was angry, blaming the police. The police was useless, no one could find any clues as she disappeared out of nowhere.

Her mother felt the worst. She was destroyed she looked like her soul was stationary

Ha-eun was also devastated, unable to accept that her best friend had disappeared.

She had lost her best friend.

And nobody knew where she was.

The only person who understood her pain was Ji-hye's father. He blamed himself for not being a good father.

Ha-eun did not understand how he could be so calm. He did not cry, he did not scream. He was quiet.

He was also angry, but his anger was directed towards the world.

Ha-eun thought he was weird. Why was he not sad?

It's like he knew something that she didn't.

She felt left out.

"Please.

"Come back.

"We'll do whatever you want.

They all thought.
