"I'm bored."
That was the biggest thought Apotheo, the one and only god, had consistently. He had watched so many realms with extreme displeasure at the fact that so many creatures could enjoy everything and spend time with each other. This feeling stuck with him for thousands of years until he finally decided to create a place where he could live and enjoy things as he had seen others do. He began production on this piece immediately. He spent hundreds of years perfecting the realm that he sought to be part of until finally he had achieved his "perfect realm."
"I've finally done it," he said with ecstatically, "now all that's left is to make this reality"
He soon initiated his world and prepared to become part of it. As he joined the realm he took so much time and effort to create, something happened… He felt as if all his power as a god was leaving him and as he was completely descended into the world of his creation all his power had left him. And then all he could see was darkness with one figure of light in the distance.
The figure said with a frown on its face, "You have betrayed your oath, and as such you will be stripped of your power."
Apotheo confused said, "what do you mean? I have no recollection of this happening. What the hell is this? Am I not the only god?"
"You may not remember as it was millions of years ago, however you should be able to remember this as a god. As punishment and as a chance, we will distribute pieces of your power throughout this world you worked so hard to make. There will be hundreds of pieces each in their own hidden place. Other creatures will also be able to collect these pieces. If you wish to reclaim all your power you must kill them and take it back." He paused for a moment, "And I truly am sorry for doing this to you old friend."
As he said that Apotheo's vision faded out and he woke up in the world of his own creation. He took time to try to process what had happened. He sat there for hours thinking it was all a dream he would wake up from soon. Eventually he accepted the facts and wandered the forest he had been sent to. He came across a small village and made his way to it, however as he approached the front gates, his vision cut out and he heard the voice again,
"Sorry friend, this may not be much but the least I can do for you is give you the ability to communicate. It was all I was given permission to do so please use it."
Shortly after he woke up and found himself in a room laying on the floor. He sat up slowly feeling a massive pain in his head and something heavy on his feet. He looked down and saw some kind of shackle on his feet that were restricting his movement. He couldn't stand up so instead he sat there for a few hours until someone finally came into the room he was in with a small tray of food and a large figure following behind her.
"Eat boy," she said, placing the food down in front of him. "And don't worry about the shackles, they're just a safety measure because of things that tend to happen around here."
Apotheo sat there for a moment until the large man behind the woman spoke out with a deep crude voice, "If you don't eat we'll give it to someone more grateful."
Aptheo's stomach groaned as he reached for the food with caution. Quietly he let out a faint "Thank you," as he slowly ate the food in small bites. This was the first time he had ever experienced something like this and he didn't know how to feel about it.
"We found you just outside the city, passed out," the woman said with a sympathetic look in her eye. "You looked like you'd been there for days. This guy behind me found you and brought you in. What were you doing out there anyway?"
Apotheo sat there in silence for a moment. "I… was once someone of great power… but I lost it all. I have nothing left and now I'm being forced to do something I never thought I would have to."
"And what would that be?"
"It's a bit complicated and not something I can share with someone and have them believe me..."
"Trust me there's not many things people like us wouldn't believe."
"Well… I used to be a god."
There was a stunned silence from the two for a moment. Apotheo wasn't sure if they believed him or not, but the look on their faces told him they did.
After a brief pause the woman said, "And… what happened with said power?"
"I don't know, all I know is its somewhere and I need to get it back."
The man burst out with a laugh, "That's a bit more unbelievable than I thought. Although it's not like it's unbelievable either. You see we also lost a tremendous amount of power. Not on the level of a god per say, but enough to control most of this continent."
"Well what happened to your power?"
"We don't know, all we know is some bastard stole it from us and sent us here."
"Where is here?"
"Well, here is the most remote village of the Astradom kingdom, where all the unfortunate live, also the place of the banished. Whatever may have happened to you, this is not a good place for you to be. Finish eating and come upstairs, Grunk the big guy here will unchain you. By the way my name is Cel. What might your name be?"
"...My name is Teo."
"Well then Teo come meet us upstairs when you are ready."
With that Gronk unchained Apotheo and went upstairs with Cel. Apotheo sat there for a while thinking about what he should do next. What do I do for now? Do I trust them? Maybe not, I should stay cautious just in case.
