Chapter 3 - The Unexpected Job

Kanya stood outside the towering glass building of Mind Entertainment, gripping her bag strap tightly. Her reflection stared back at her from the pristine glass doors, her carefully styled hair and confident expression masking the storm within her.

This was Aran's company?

She still couldn't wrap her head around it. The same Aran who had ruthlessly crushed her heart five years ago now owned one of the biggest BL production companies , offered her a Job? The irony made her want to laugh—and punch something at the same time.

Her feet itched to turn around and leave, but she couldn't afford to. Not after breaking her modeling contract and paying a massive fine. Her savings had taken a brutal hit, and no matter how much she hated the idea of working under him, this was the best opportunity she had.

With an annoyed sigh, she walked in. The sleek, modern interior screamed wealth and influence, and she hated that it suited him so well.

Before long, she was seated across from Aran in his office, his dark eyes watching her like a hawk.

"Well" he said smoothly, "I see you finally decided to show up."

Kanya scoffed. "Don't flatter yourself. If I had another choice, I wouldn't be here."

Aran raised a brow but didn't argue. He leaned back in his chair, his sharp suit fitting him perfectly. He hadn't changed—still cold, still unreadable. But now, there was something even more polished about him, as if he had perfected the art of keeping everyone at arm's length.

Kanya narrowed her eyes. "I have to ask, though. How the hell did a straight guy end up running a BL company? You sure you're not playing for the other team?"

Aran's jaw ticked. "My sexuality isn't up for discussion."

She smirked. "Touched a nerve, did I?"

He exhaled sharply, clearly done with her. "Let's focus on why you're here."

"Fine. What exactly am I supposed to do?"

Aran stood, walking around his desk, his presence as suffocating as ever. "You'll be managing the PR for one of our biggest BL couples. Your job is to handle their image, coordinate their appearances, and ensure they remain beloved by the public."

Kanya blinked. This was way better than she expected. She would get to work with a real-life BL couple?

Excitement bubbled under her irritation.

Before she could respond, the door cracked open, and Korn, Aran's assistant, peeked in nervously. His fingers were twitching—probably from the tension in the room.

"Uh… boss, should I…?" Korn hesitated, looking between them like he was witnessing a battlefield.

Aran sighed. "Yes, Korn."

Korn nodded quickly and gestured for her to follow him. "Miss Kanya, I'll introduce you to the couple you'll be working with."

Kanya threw Aran one last glare before following Korn out.

They walked down a pristine hallway before stopping in front of a door. Korn knocked twice before stepping inside.

Two men lounged on a plush couch, chatting casually. When they turned to look at her, Kanya froze.

And then squealed.

"Oh my god, no fucking way—"

Jack and June. Jack and June. The BL actors. Her BL actors.

She had watched every single one of their dramas. Every. Single. One. She had cried, laughed, and screamed over their chemistry. They were one of her all-time favorite BL couples.

Jack, the playful and mischievous one, was already grinning at her, eyes gleaming with amusement. "Oh? We have a fan?"

Kanya clutched her chest dramatically. "A fan? A fan?! I literally threatened my friends when they tried to spoil your last drama for me! I almost fought a bitch in my comments section for saying you had no chemistry. I have bled for you!"

June let out a short, amused chuckle. Jack looked absolutely delighted. "Oh, I like her. Can we keep her?"

Kanya's mind was spinning. "You guys—this is unreal. I mean, Jack, your smile could end wars. And June, your voice—oh my god, I have dreams about that voice."

June raised a brow, a small smirk tugging at his lips. Jack cackled.

"I think I'm in love" Jack sighed dramatically. "Sorry, June, you might have competition."

June rolled his eyes but was clearly entertained. "Behave, Jack."

A very loud sigh came from behind them.

Kanya turned, and her excitement died instantly at the sight of Aran standing in the doorway, arms crossed, looking thoroughly unimpressed.

"Are you done?" he asked, voice clipped.

Kanya smirked. "Jealous?"

Aran scoffed. "Hardly. But if you're finished fangirling, can we work?"

Kanya flipped her hair over her shoulder. "Fine. But only because I want to."

Jack leaned in, whispering conspiratorially, "Do you two have, like, history? Because damn, that was some tension."

"Oh, trust me" Kanya muttered, side-eyeing Aran, "we have plenty of history."

Aran ignored them. "Kanya, your job starts tomorrow. Don't be late."

Kanya rolled her eyes but nodded.

As she left the room, she could feel Aran's gaze burning into her back.

This was going to be fun.

Kanya strutted into the building the next morning, dressed in a fitted blazer and heels that clicked sharply against the floor. She looked like she belonged here—because she did.

She wasn't some lovestruck teenager anymore, and she sure as hell wasn't here for him.

The receptionist greeted her with a polite nod as she took the elevator up to the executive floor. The doors slid open, and she stepped out, immediately spotting Korn, who looked like he had been anxiously awaiting her arrival.

"Miss Kanya! Good morning" he said, smiling nervously.

"Morning, Korn" she replied casually. "The boss in?"

Korn winced. "Uh… yeah. He's in a mood, though."

Kanya smirked. "Good."

Korn sighed as he led her to the lounge where Jack and June were waiting.

The moment she stepped inside, Jack grinned. "Our new PR queen has arrived!"

June smirked, arms crossed. "Bright and early."

Kanya shot them a playful look. "Please, I'm always professional."

Jack snickered. "Funny. Because I heard you had our dear boss grinding his teeth yesterday."

June tilted his head, amused. "I've never seen anyone get under Aran's skin so quickly. It was… impressive."

Kanya shrugged, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "What can I say? I have a gift."

Jack nudged June. "You think we can take notes?"

June hummed thoughtfully. "Perhaps. But we'd need to study her technique."

Kanya rolled her eyes, suppressing a laugh. "You guys are terrible."

The teasing faded as the conversation shifted to work. Kanya settled into her role with ease. She had already gone through the current PR reports, brand deals, and upcoming schedules.

"You have a fan meeting in two weeks" she said, flipping through her tablet. "I'm planning to push more engagement through behind-the-scenes clips. The audience loves your banter, and we need to capitalize on that. I've already scheduled a Q&A session for your fans. Also, there's a product sponsorship deal from a luxury skincare brand. It's high-end, but it fits your image perfectly."

Jack whistled. "Damn, you don't play around."

June nodded approvingly. "Efficient."

Kanya smiled. "Of course. I'm not just a pretty face, boys."

Jack leaned forward. "So, what's the plan if we get caught in a scandal? Like… let's say I accidentally flirt with a brand ambassador, and the internet goes crazy?"

Kanya raised a brow. "You? Accidentally flirt? Please, Jack, I'd be more shocked if you didn't."

June chuckled as Jack grinned unapologetically.

"Relax" Kanya continued. "That's why I'm here. Damage control is my specialty."

Jack gave her a dramatic thumbs-up. "I feel so safe with you around."

Kanya smirked. "As you should."

Just then, the door swung open, and Aran stepped in, looking as sharp and cold as ever. His gaze swept over the three of them before landing on Kanya.

"You're not here to gossip" he said curtly.

Kanya didn't even blink. "Oh, don't worry, boss. We were actually discussing work."

Jack and June exchanged glances, clearly entertained.

Aran narrowed his eyes but said nothing. Instead, he turned to the two actors. "Your next schedule is at noon. Don't be late."

Jack saluted mockingly. "Aye, aye, Captain."

June merely nodded.

Aran's attention shifted back to Kanya. "And you. My office. Now."

Jack and June oohed under their breath as Kanya rolled her eyes but followed him out.

As they left, Jack nudged June. "She's going to kill him, isn't she?"

June smirked. "Most likely."

Jack grinned. "I like her more every day."
