Chapter 5
Alina's POV
For days, I had kept my mind shut about what the stranger, I mean Damien flecker, what he said to me in the elevator. It seemed like a joke at first but later on, we talked about it over lunch.
And I agreed to it.
I agreed to be his Luna, not just because he offered or because he is an Alpha but because I had my own benefits in this deal.
Damien was coming to see my parents today, if our deal was going to work, we had to make things look real and perfect. I was staring at my dressing mirror, combing my red long hair, making sure it's curly end were intact.
My door creaked open, Tessy popped her head inside my room, a playful smile in her lips. "Looking cute for your Alpha?" She whispered, her voice teasing.
I smiled, but she was not done yet. She strode into the room, closing the door behind her as she rushed behind me.
"You look beautiful, big sis. Just like how a Luna is suppose to look." She said, her little hands rubbed my shoulders as she watched me through the mirror."
"And how is a Luna suppose to look?" I asked her.
She twirled her head, she takes one hand off my shoulder, stroking her chin as she takes a moment to think. "Royalty, challenging and calm at the the same time." She stated, smiling back at me through the mirror.
"You still haven't told me yet, how did you meet another man so fast after you ended things with victor." She questioned. But I was not allowed to tell anyone anything, it remains a secret between Damien and I until I was done with Victor and Mira.
I placed a hand on Tessy's hand. "You don't have to know the adult stuff. I'll tell you about it when you are much older. Maybe when you turn 18."
She huffed, "That's so cruel of you, Alina."she growled, taking her hands off my shoulders. I stood up from my seat, checking how the silk dress glued to my shape.
I placed my hand on her cheek, playfully pinching it. "There's nothing cruel about telling you by then. You're going to find your mate by then and I assure you, you'd need my experience talk when that day comes. " I paused, there was a mild knock on the door.
"Come in."
"Alpha Damien Flecker has arrived." The maid informed politely.
"Let's go?" I said, taking my sister's hand as we walked out of my bedroom.
As we walked down the stairs, my heart couldn't help but beat fast, I had no idea why it pounded so swiftly. Maybe I was scared that somehow this fake relationship with Damien might not go well.
What if? I paused, about to think of the worst thought agen I spotted him, casually talking to my parents. I was confused at the way my heart skipped a beat, seeing his face again. I'd made a vow that I was not going to fall in love, never, not after what Victor planned to do to me.
"Alina." Damien called out softly, I was standing in the midst of my parents and him. He took my hands gently and kissed it. "You look beautiful." He said, ignoring the fact that my parents were present.
I swallowed hard, painfully aware of my parents' gaze.
My father cleared his throat; the obvious reminder of his presence wasn't lost on either of us.
Damien straightened, his hand still loosely holding mine, while my parents launched into a barrage of questions aimed at him.
"What exactly are your intentions concerning our daughter?" my father asked, sharply authoritative.
Damien's response was effortless; in a deep tone, full of conviction: "Alina is strong, and she will make an amazing Luna. I want her by my side-not just for my pack, but for me."
I listened to him, talking with confident assurance about his pack, what he did for it, and where he saw them all going in the future. It almost sounded like he wasn't lying. My mother smiled sweetly, my father nodded approvingly, and Tessy, well, was practically starstruck.
It was kind of a weird realization, but they liked him. They liked him more than they ever liked Viktor.
And with that, our relationship was approved by my parents.
After the meeting, Damien and I left together. Seated in his car, I finally let myself breathe.
"See? That wasn't so bad," he said, a smirk playing on his lips as he focused on the road ahead.
I sighed, resting my head against the window. "Yeah. It went well."
"But how long will this go on?" I popped up the question but Damien seemed to be too calm. "What's with that smile? You think I'm being overly paranoid, right?"
"I don't know you too well, Alina. But I know that you're being overly paranoid right now."
I rolled my eyes at him even though he wasn't looking into my direction. I didn't know him too well either, but I had a feeling we would go along just fine.
"I want you to see my pack, meet my people. And then it's official, we can go ahead with our plan." Damien said,he glanced at me for a moment, and I saw it, that pain and hatred in his eyes.
I wanted to know what Viktor had done to make him feel so much anger that he was ready to make an alliance with me to ruin Viktor
But before I could ask him, my phone rang. I glanced at the screen. It was an unknown number.
Frowning, I answered. "Hello?"
The voice on the other end was frantic, almost breathless. "Miss Alina. I, I don't know how to say this."
My heart went racing. "What is it?" I insisted, my hand tight on the phone.
There was a pause, then the words fell like a sledgehammer.
"I'm so sorry. but your family, your father, mother, and sister. they're gone. There was an attack."
The phone slipped from my hand.
"No." I whispered, my vision blurring.
"Alina?" Damien's voice sounded distant, concerned, but I couldn't respond.
My world had just shattered. My family-my whole family-was gone.
