Chapter 40 - FALL OF A KINGDOM

The gates shattered.

The Valkary stepped over the broken bodies of the last defenders, their silhouettes cutting through the smoke.

Beyond them, the city stretched wide. A once-proud kingdom—now a grave waiting to be filled.

Screams echoed through the streets. Citizens ran, soldiers scrambled, but none of it mattered.

Because the Valkary were already inside.

MODRED: THE INEVITABLE EXECUTIONER

A line of spearmen blocked the main road, shields raised, terror in their eyes.

Modred walked forward alone.

"Hold!" their captain barked. "We can still—"

SLASH.

He didn't get to finish.

Modred vanished—then reappeared behind them.

The front row collapsed.

Their **shields were still up—**but their heads were already rolling across the stone.

Blood splashed against the walls.

The rest dropped their weapons.

Modred didn't stop walking.

Behind him—they fell to their knees, trembling.

They had already lost.

---

XERANIEL: THE SKY BREAKS

A battalion of mages lined the rooftops.

They raised their staffs, spells ready.

Xeraniel smirked. "Cute."

Then—he raised a single hand.

BOOM.

The sky collapsed.

Gravity surged. The entire street caved inward—mages were yanked from their perches, screaming.

Their bones snapped midair.

Their bodies crashed into the pavement, crushed beyond recognition.

Xeraniel exhaled. "Too easy."

---

DANTE: LIGHTNING STRIKES DOWN HOPE

Knights rode through the streets, desperately rallying survivors.

"Defend the palace!" they shouted.

Then—the world flickered.

A shadow passed through them.

Lightning roared.

Five knights fell.

Dante stood at the end of the street, blade dripping, electricity coiling around his fingers.

He turned, his eyes glowing.

"Keep running," he said. "It won't matter."

Then—he vanished again.

---

FENRICK: A WALL OF FLESH AND BLOOD

A squad of heavily armored warriors formed a blockade at the marketplace, determined to stop the Valkary's advance.

They braced. Shields locked. Lances pointed.

Then—a single figure walked toward them.

Fenrick cracked his knuckles.

"Alright," he muttered. "Let's see how sturdy you bastards are."

He charged.

BOOM.

The first shield shattered on impact.

Fenrick's **fist caved in a knight's helmet—**his skull followed.

He **grabbed another by the throat—**and slammed him into the stone with enough force to break the ground.

The blockade collapsed in seconds.

Fenrick rolled his shoulders. "Thought so."

---

ARTHUR: THE LAST SANCTUARY FALLS

Arthur reached the central cathedral.

Inside, civilians huddled in terror, priests murmuring prayers.

A squad of royal guards stood in front of the doors, blades drawn.

"You won't—" one started.

Arthur moved.

Steel flashed.

The guards collapsed.

Blood stained the cathedral's entrance.

Arthur sheathed his sword. His eyes were cold.

The priests trembled.

Arthur turned, walking away.

"Leave them," he said flatly. "They're already dead inside."

THE CITY FALLS

By dawn, it was over.

The once-great kingdom was silent.

Smoke rose from its ruins.

Bodies lined the streets.

The Valkary stood in the palace courtyard, victorious.

Modred stepped forward. His crimson eyes burned.

"The first kingdom is ours."

He turned.

"Next."

TO BE CONTINUED.
