Chapter 16 - 16.Tera Crystals

---

Eric knew that after each Terastallization, the Tera Orb would completely deplete its stored energy, leaving it unusable until it was recharged. There were only two ways to replenish it.

The first option was to visit a Pokémon Center equipped with Tera Energy charging stations.

Unfortunately, since these were still in limited distribution, only the major cities of Paldea had them.

The second method involved finding natural Tera Crystals scattered throughout Paldea.

When a Tera Orb came into contact with a Tera Crystal, it would automatically recharge.

While more practical, Eric had yet to spot any Tera Crystals near the farm.

Sighing, he set aside his plan to discover the Tera Types of his other Pokémon. While Luxray and Serperior likely had Electric and Grass Tera Types, the Tera Types of Aegislash, Mimikyu, and Dragonite remained a mystery for now.

Arven tugged on Eric's sleeve, curious. "So… does this mean you can plant crops and start harvesting food right away?"

Eric mulled it over for a moment. "In theory, yes. Once the land is cleared and the plants are suited to the season and soil conditions, it's possible. The problem is, I'm not entirely sure what to plant first."

Arven tilted his head, a sceptical look crossing his face. It didn't take a genius to see Eric was far from an expert in agriculture. His vague answer screamed inexperience.

"Brother Eric… you…" Arven stammered, unsure how to put his thoughts into words.

Eric let out a hearty laugh and clapped Arven on the shoulder, nearly knocking him off balance. "I know what you're thinking. Yes, I'm a complete novice. That's why we're going to consult the experts!"

Jones Farm, one of the largest agricultural operations in Mesagoza, was known for supplying fresh produce to the town and even major cities across Paldea.

With its vast reach, it was one of the region's most reputable farms and a significant contributor to the local economy.

One of their farm was located west of Eric's property, bordering the wilderness. Unlike Eric's barren fields, Jones Farm was an oasis of organized productivity, boasting state-of-the-art facilities and a highly skilled team.

Eric arrived with Arven and Mabosstiff in tow. As they approached the entrance, they passed a small security booth. Inside, an elderly man dozed on a reclining chair, a straw hat pulled low over his face to shield him from the afternoon sun.

Eric checked his watch. It was well past two o'clock, the agreed-upon meeting time. Tapping on the glass, he called out, "Excuse me, sir. I'm here for a scheduled visit."

The old man stirred, lifting his hat slightly to squint at Eric. After a moment, he yawned, stretched, and shuffled to his feet. "A young man and a kid… with a dog? Strange company," he muttered, his tone half-amused.

Eric ignored the comment and smiled politely. "The name's Eric. I believe I have an appointment to tour the farm today. Could you check your schedule?"

The man flipped through a clipboard of papers, muttering under his breath. Finally, he nodded and adjusted his reading glasses. "Ah, yes. Two o'clock. Looks like I overslept. Sorry about that, son."

"No harm done," Eric replied. "Could you call someone to show us around?"

The guard reached for a nearby phone but hesitated, glancing at Arven and Mabosstiff. "Are they with you?"

Eric nodded without missing a beat. "A relative's kid and his Pokémon. They're tagging along for the experience. I hope that's alright?"

The old man squinted at him, deliberating for a moment before shrugging and dialling a number. Shortly after, a young man arrived to greet them.

---

The guide, Peter, was in his early twenties with a clean-cut appearance and bright, eager eyes. He wore mud-streaked pants, evidence of time spent in the fields, and carried a wide-brimmed hat slung over his back.

Flashing a broad smile, Peter extended a hand. "Welcome! I'm Peter, head of produce at Jones Farm. It's a pleasure to meet you!"

Eric shook his hand, immediately noting Peter's firm grip and friendly demeanour. After a brief introduction, Peter explained that the farm owners, the Joneses, were away on business in Levincia. "They asked me to fill in for them. It's not every day we get visitors from a neighbouring farm!"

As they walked, Peter turned to Eric with a curious grin. "So, you're the one who bought that old plot of land nearby? My bosses had their eyes on it for a while but couldn't decide whether to invest. I guess you beat them to it, huh?"

Eric scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. "I didn't realize there was competition. I just… went for it."

Peter laughed, clapping Eric on the back. "Good call! Honestly, I'm relieved you took it off their hands. If they'd bought it, my workload would've doubled."

Gesturing expansively at the farm, Peter added, "If there's anything you want to know, don't hesitate to ask. I'll make sure you leave with all the advice you need."

Eric smiled. With a knowledgeable guide like Peter, he felt confident he could learn a thing or two about turning his barren land into a thriving farm.
