Existence or non-existence were the same. Energy. It existed everywhere and anywhere. There was no up or down. No right or wrong. Only energy.
The entity that did not exist was one of the few in the flows of energies, which merged into one and then existed as separate parts, connected to one another. The entity had no body, no eyes or ears. It simply was. Its beginning of non-existence or the end of existence were absent. It had always been and would always be, just like the others like it.
None of the entities, who were energy and simultaneously were not, knew where they came from or where they were supposed to go. What could be called a world was woven from threads of energies. These threads were impossible to define, but they were clearly visible against the backdrop of the entities. Moving in space, as vast as they themselves, the entities tried to understand who they were and where they were. They explored the unknown, which they knew better than themselves. Communication between them was strange, yet natural. Thoughts became shapes, and shapes became thoughts. It seemed reality was only a small part of their imagination. Every time one of the entities thought, reality changed under the influence of its thoughts. The threads of energy vibrated at every form, at every thought.
The entities explored. They tried to find something beyond themselves. But every attempt failed, as if nothing else existed except for themselves. Their number was unknown, as there were no numbers or ways to measure. They only knew how many of them there were.
But there was one entity. The others thought of it differently. Every time it appeared in space, the others focused their thoughts on it. The threads, from which the world was woven, reacted. The entity saw how reality changed, and it troubled it. It seemed reality was trying to push it away, distancing it from the others. The entity wanted to propose a theory of who they were, but the others were unwilling to accept what it could offer. They were frightened by the unfamiliar absurdity of its forms.
While the others merged into the flow, the entity remained restricted. As if energy did not allow it to become part of the others. The entity knew that reality changed because of the thoughts of the others. Every time.
Among them were those who were ready to explore any thought, any form, even the strangest. The entity appeared to them, but they, too, changed reality, creating barriers between themselves and it. However, the entity genuinely wanted to help the others understand themselves and the world they were part of.
This time the entity appeared again. This time its forms had changed. It seemed it had found the answer to the question that had been tormenting everyone: Who were they? And what existed beyond their reality?
"Greeting," the entity addressed the others mentally. The threads of reality trembled as soon as it thought.
"Dreamer. Again," one of the researchers sensed the entity's presence. He felt how much the entity wanted to share. But the Researcher did not want to know its thoughts they seemed absurd to him. Yet it was amusing to watch how the world changed under the influence of its ideas.
"Theory! Science!" the entity tried to share.
"Nonsense," the Researcher began to change reality, building walls between them.
"Request," the entity pleaded for a chance.
"Permission," another Researcher intervened, halting the change in reality. "Allowance."
"Layers," the entity began to create forms. "Energy is one. Energy is divided. Existence. Non-existence. One layer."
"Layers?" the threads of reality around the Researcher vibrated. He wanted to know more.
"Only one layer," the entity continued, distorting reality more than ever. Suddenly, the others noticed how strongly the threads bent under its thoughts. "Another layer."
"Another layer?" The Researcher, who had previously rejected the entity, suddenly became interested.
"Another layer. Dense energy. Matter."
"Fool," another Researcher intervened. The threads began to weaken, the entity's forms started to fall apart. "Energy is boundless. In matter, it is impossible."
"Possible!" the entity responded. "Another layer. More energy. Laws. Rules. Calculations. Restrictions."
"Reality doesn't change because of forms?"
"Agreement."
"Existence. Non-existence. Division." The entity felt how several Researchers began to think in its forms.
"Entity. Reality. Division."
"Division?"
At that moment, the threads began to intertwine, creating patterns that no one could comprehend. All the entities felt how reality became more complex, how something previously different began to appear. Never before had energy been so dense. But now something truly astonishing began to vibrate.
"Point." The entity manifested dense energy in the world. So dense that it became matter.
"Matter?" The Researcher seemed to get closer in space. "But only a point."
"Another layer. Many points. Reality. Contains many points."
And then something incredible happened. Their forms began to merge and complicate around the point of matter, as if the very existence of the point was restructuring reality. The threads tore and reconnected. Thoughts became faster, and forms changed into one another.
"World and entities separated?"
"Yes. The energy of the entity is separated from the energy of the world. Thoughts and forms are separated." The entity marveled at how fast its thoughts were. And most astonishingly, reality was not restructuring, as if the point of matter prevented reality from changing under the force of the entity's forms and thoughts.
"Existence and Non-existence are not the same?" The Researcher noticed how easily he could comprehend and give.
"Exactly." The entity confirmed.
"But how can the energy of the entity exist in reality, if reality is so dense that it has become matter?"
"Storage. Storage that keeps the energy from decaying."
"But how does it work?" Another Researcher, who had previously only observed the entity's forms, asked.
"The storage constantly attacks the energy, keeping it in storage. Discharges."
"A cage?"
"Yes."
"Entities are locked in cages?"
"Yes, but for their own good."
"For what good?"
"Energy can control the storage. And move in reality."
"If entities and reality are separated, then the energy flows are different. Access to energy is limited. Where does the storage get the energy to attack the entity?" The Researcher, who had refused to comprehend the entity, was beginning to understand he was right.
"The storage is in another storage. An even bigger one. And to get energy, the large storage absorbs energy from reality... This gives energy to the small storage."
"Horror!" exclaimed the Researcher. "And the entity is locked in cages forever? Their existence is bound to absorbing energy to avoid decay?"
"No, not forever. Due to constant absorption, due to the constant attack, the matter of the storage is damaged. Time damages the storage, and it dies. Both the large and the small."
"And the entity decays?"
"Yes."
The entity tensed. It was difficult, extraordinarily difficult, for the energy to merge together and create another point of matter. It only wanted to show that if two points could exist in space, then in another layer, points would be countless.
"This is madness. Pseudoscience! No energy would ever want to exist in a cage that attacks it. No being would wish to exist for the purpose of absorption, only to then decay. You fool. A dreamer who cannot see reality and is incapable of knowing anything. And you have come to us to offer fantasies. Your forms, your thoughts are foolish."
"Wait," the entity tried to explain. "I know this is hard to comprehend. But we exist in another layer. Beings from the material layer exist differently. For them, existing in storage is as natural as it is for us to change reality with our thoughts. They live differently. Absorbing the energy of reality is only part of their existence. Perhaps the large storages are so complex that they are capable of things we cannot. Their perception of reality is different. Their thoughts may not leave the storages, but that doesn't mean they cannot give and learn."
"Nonsense!" The researcher tried to destroy one of the points of matter created by the entity.
"And there may be many beings. The world of matter is unique. Its conception is unimaginable. I can use all the power I have to create only two points of matter. But if their world consists of matter, imagine how much incredible things could exist there. Due to limitations and rules, their world may not exist like ours. And because their world does not change under the influence of their forms, they, apparently, cannot know reality..."
"Only an idiot cannot comprehend reality."
"They can explore, just like us, but since they are not a world, they may have to study reality. Creating and destroying in the process, for they do not know how their world exists."
"If a being cannot comprehend reality… why does it exist?" — The researcher tensed. The point of matter began to break down. The threads of reality started to unravel.
"Their existence may not be eternal, but that doesn't mean they cannot do anything. Perhaps they have gone so far that they know: beyond their layer, there is also ours. Perhaps they want to connect with us, but they are unable to reach us simply because their world is complex and material. Their matter cannot exist in our layer. Perhaps they are close, in one motion of space. But they cannot know us, just as we cannot give them anything."
"Dreamer," — the researcher distorted; perhaps the beings of the material world would have come up with a form for this feeling, signifying thought. For example, laughter.
"You are not a researcher. You will never be a researcher. Not all beings are capable of knowing reality. Not all beings are capable. And certainly not you. The material world... storages... Beings in cages. Fool. What you give… is pseudoscience."
The researcher managed to destroy one point of matter, and soon after, the second one disappeared as well. The entity grew tired, for no one had ever before altered reality so much that it became matter. Space unfolded again, and the energy of reality returned to its normal state.
The beings distorted, the threads around them habitually trembling. They were angry at the entity, for its ideas seemed absurd. Even the focus on the point of matter was merely a complex overlay of reality and the compression of energy. The existence of matter in the sense the entity understood it was simply foolishness.
In a moment, the researchers changed reality, and the entity found itself so far from them that it didn't even know where in space they were. The other beings distorted, as if expressing the thought with the word "laughter." The entity was left alone. The others created walls to separate themselves from the foolish dreamer. The entity thought. Its forms had no one to give them, and no one wanted to know them.
The entity distorted, trembled. It deeply disliked the solitude in which it found itself. And to distract itself, the entity tensed. The threads of reality began to twist and merge once more. In a moment, the energy became a point.
"Matter," — the entity formed.
The entity did not want to feel the forms of the researchers. It wanted to continue believing, continue knowing. The material layer existed.
