It was mating season for the sheep. Skye mainly had the male sheep ram their opponents to death while the female sheep watched from behind.
Afterward, he experimented on their corpses.
During this time, a problem arose within the flock: the sheep were mutating.
"So the resources here make you mutate and grow in size," Skye mused as he observed their transformation.
He flew around, scanning the bodies of all the sheep. The situation could become serious if it continued—many of the sheep had developed abnormal growths. Some had larger eyeballs, while others had oversized horns. These changes were easy to spot from the outside.
Inside the sheep's bodies, their organs were growing at an alarming rate—hearts, livers, kidneys, and more. If this continued unchecked, there would come a time when the sheep would die from their own mutated growth.
What worried Skye most wasn't the mutations themselves, but the incomplete nature of the changes.
Since he didn't have a solution to the problem yet, he simply ordered the affected sheep to consume normal food to prevent further complications.
A few days into autumn, Skye commanded, "Let's go," and the sheep followed behind him, heading back to the place where he had first found them.
During this period, animals were more active as they prepared for hibernation. As a result, Skye and his flock encountered predators every few hours.
Sixth Day
A sinister laughter echoed as a group of around 300 hyenas surrounded Skye and his flock.
This group was slightly different from the others. The hyena matriarch possessed a peculiar ability—she could make herself and a few of her troops invisible. However, it wasn't much of a concern for Skye. He easily detected them and, without much trouble, defeated the group.
While searching the matriarch's body, Skye found a small red, marble-like stone. A smile crept across his face as he examined it.
The remainder of the journey was uneventful, and they eventually reached their destination.
The area was currently occupied by various flocks of sheep, each with a unique leader. Skye's group's arrival drew some attention, but they blended in seamlessly with the others.
After the sheep mingled and did their thing, Skye decided to leave. Initially, he had considered poaching more members, but since the other sheep were too dumb and didn't follow his orders, he changed his mind.
As winter arrived, the giant snake continued to occupy the small pond. The water in the pond was rich in energy, and the plants around it were unaffected by the snowy winter.
So Skye took the flock to graze right in its territory.
The snake was hibernating in the pond, so there were no conflicts between them.
During late winter, the female sheep gave birth, growing the size of the flock. Three mutated lambs were born. One lamb could create balls of fire, while the other two had enhanced physical strength.
Skye named them Sheep No. 1049, 1076, and 1150.
In early spring, Skye took the sheep back to their previous location. Skye didn't want to engage with the giant snake yet, as he had plans for it.
As the seasons changed, five years passed.
220 wolf corpses were scattered across the ground as Skye continued his experiments.
"Success," he muttered, examining the fully healed corpse in front of him.
He flew over to an injured sheep, briefly possessing its body and activating the newly acquired skill.
The abnormal regeneration ability, developed over five years, had finally been perfected. By manipulating the body through a series of complex procedures, Skye could heal almost any injury. In fact, he could regenerate missing limbs.
Exiting the sheep's body, Skye flew around, healing the rest of the flock.
'It's still not the ideal skill I wanted, but this will do,' Skye thought. As powerful as the skill was, it came with a significant drawback. The ability rapidly divided cells to heal injuries, which shortened the user's lifespan.
But in the present, what was the value of a long lifespan if you didn't survive the moment?
After healing the flock, Skye possessed the wolf corpse he had healed and made it stand on its legs.
First, he manipulated the cells in its body, then, a while later, 'Let's see.'
The wolf's leg muscles violently exploded, and its body accelerated beyond the speed of the eye.
"Boom!"
An explosion rocked the ground as the wolf's body slammed into the earth. Skye left its body and quietly observed the mangled corpse, now lying in a pit created by the impact.
He moved on to another wolf corpse, possessing it again. The result was the same—a repeat of the previous scene, but this time even more violently.
Four years later.
Sheep No. 41, one of the five 5-meter-tall mutated sheep, was grazing lazily in the grass.
While eating, his gaze was drawn to the wolf corpse he had rammed to death earlier. Its spine was exposed, and one of its front limbs was missing.
Since he could remember, a strange entity had always been guiding him and his family.
Now, as he observed, the entity controlled the wolf's body, making it stand up. The wounds rapidly healed, and even the missing limb began to regenerate. Sheep No. 41 couldn't help but stare in awe. No matter how many times he witnessed it happen, he couldn't help but be amazed.
After a while, Sheep No. 41 jumped in surprise when the wolf corpse suddenly appeared before him. Before he could blink, it vanished.
Startled, he turned around and was shocked to see the wolf corpse standing behind him.
'Good, now that I've successfully developed both the necessary skills, it's time to advance my plans,' Skye thought as he left the wolf's body.
Ignoring the confused Sheep No. 41, Skye shouted, "Everyone, gather around me!"
