Chereads / God Of War: Gacha System / Chapter 14 - #14 - The Living World (1)

Chapter 14 - #14 - The Living World (1)

A/N: I wanted to say that this arc was supposed to be short, with even shorter chapters, which meant that it would be released in a bunch. But then I started to write, and I decided to make the chapters longer so that we don't have 20 of Terraria, with 13 of the main world. This also means that the chapters will take longer to be made.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When pondered what worlds happened to fall in the requisites, I didn't limit myself in my thoughts.

I thought from the highest point I could, worlds like Marvel, where villains and technology are plenty. I went down a bit, to the mid-level worlds like Invincible, with futuristic technology and many villains of the image universe.

Then I went down some more, and I reached the low-level worlds like Attack on Titan, Avatar, The Boys, Demon Slayer, etc.

All of those universes are fine, but seeing as how I'll remain there for 4 months, most of the enemies will be way under-leveled for me in a month or two.

So, once again, I needed a world that had good technology, easy to fight enemies, and as powerful as a low-level world being could be.

Two days after the testing, I decided where would I spend my next four months.

One that Eleanor was very familiar with.

...

Chaos.

Where the eye went, chaos followed.

That wasn't a metaphor. The big disgusting eye floating above the villagers' houses moved toward the only goal of destroying everything in sight.

It was difficult to determine whether it was conscious or if it was actively causing everything around it to suffer.

But there was no relative problem, as a valiant woman fought against the monstrosity.

Of course, the woman struggled, and the small shark-shaped weapon seemed to have little effect on the monster.

"We should probably help that girl." I contemplated.

Eleanor to my side nodded and tugged my sleeve, drawing me to the eye.

'Gacha, show how much will the kill influence the progress bar' I mentally commanded.

[15%]

'Damn.'

The first boss of the game will give me 15%? Imagine how much will the next give me.

No time for that though.

Taking my rifle out of the inventory, I started shooting the monster in the sky, to much effect as the eye immediately opened in two and started dashing towards me.

With full confidence in my gun, I kept shooting him and by the time it got close enough, it fell crashing into the earth at my feet.

The starry night seemed to have no changes, but my senses alerted me of something.

Something gazing upon me. Something in the moon.

The woman fighting the eye of Cthulhu made its way to me and asked me.

"Are you okay?" The woman asked me, she lowered her gun when she saw the eye splattered and dead at my feet.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I answered naturally.

"...Is it dead?" She asked while poking the mass of flesh.

"...I guess it is."

"Cool. That was the worst experience I've ever had." She fell to the grass and sat on it, not caring about the horrible smell.

"Meh, 6/10" I answered back, sitting too.

"I feel like that has a backstory."

"It does, it does..."

Eleanor made her way to me and looked at the not-moving mass of flesh.

"Is she your child? She probably shouldn't be looking at this..." The terrarian told me, ready to take her near the village.

"Don't worry, she's just curious" I told her to relax.

"If you say so..." She didn't care too much and sat back down.

Not even 5 minutes passed, but I was getting bored and I needed extra information, so I started chatting with her.

"I suppose this doesn't happen every day?" I started with small sarcasm.

"Nah, just the Mondays." She answered back.

"Quite the weird tradition." I doubled down on the joke.

"Yeah, we got caught off guard this time and the thing did more damage than usual." She casually dropped some lore.

"¨This time¨?" I made the quotation marks with my fingers. "So it will come back?" I asked while looking at the eye. Ready to blast it to smithereens.

"It shouldn't. It's just that we don't have enough time to kill it and escape when the sun rises." She corrects me while waving her hand.

"Oh, ok" If she doesn't worry about then neither will I.

We remained sat in the grass for a while. Eleanor stayed to my side for a bit, before she got bored and decided to explore the village and run around, just doing kid things.

I stared at the moon and it stared back, creepily.

"Now that I think about it, I should probably get back and talk with the villagers..." She suddenly got up like she just remembered.

"Right, I should probably follow you. And, actually, are there any inns in this village? I want to sleep" I got up and started walking to her side.

"Sure, I think that Frank can help you with that"

"Who's Frank?"

"Oh, just a merchant..."

...

Terraria.

An indie game made by a small company that revolves around killing a bunch of bosses and getting the achievements completed.

Now, this world's final boss is strong. Even if weakened, he should still be able to destroy the planet or whatever is supposed to happen if he's released from the moon. Or that's what the lore says.

He's also the common enemy of this world's inhabitants, so I win, and they win too.

That said I thought I should be able to barge in, kill things, relax for the rest of the day, and go out.

Not this.

Sitting at the table in what's now my room, I stare at the woman and the man in front of me.

The same woman who fought the Eye of Cthulhu sits on a chair in front of me. She has the decency to look slightly ashamed, but she won't back down from her actions.

The man doesn't let any thoughts escape his posture, the perfectly still smile on his face unchanging.

"So... To what do I owe the pleasure, Mr. and Ms..." I start diplomatically.

I'm the visitor here, so I should act normally.

"Andrew" The guide answered. "She's Eve"

"Good night, Andrew and Eve, to what do I owe this pleasure?" I repeated with my knuckles in my jaw.

"Hey Andrew, I don't think this is a good idea" Eve whispered to her companion with tugs on his arm.

He, not caring about her words, brought up his pen and paper, and started with the questions.

"Name?"

"Arian." For a moment, the idea of saying Kratos came up in my mind, but I shushed it the moment it appeared. I have plans for that name...

"From where do you come from?"

"Another world." I wonder if he will believe this... Terraria is a world with multiple worlds as far as I'm concerned. Like, from where the old one's army comes.

He nodded and wrote something down in his paper. Eve looked at him weirdly, but she didn't say anything else.

"Reason for visit?"

"Vacation." I answered without hesitation.

I'm not lying, I want to relax for a part of the trip, even if it's just an ¨If possible¨ objective.

He put down a few more things in his pad and stood up.

"Alright, thank you for your time Mr. Arian, let me wish you a happy vacation and a merry time here." The guide said, leaving the room and his partner.

"..." She didn't look at me, but at Eleanor sitting in the bed, expressionless.

"So... what was that all about?" I asked her directly.

"Ugh... It's just procedure, the guide is a paranoid freak, and he gets even more paranoid with everything concerning the monsters. So he didn't take it too... appropriate to not know anything about the guy who shot down the eye of the Cthulhu." Her voice grew stronger as she got to the end.

"..." I'm starting to rethink all my ideas about helping these people.

"Sometimes he says stuff about the chosen one and ¨All in due time¨. But I never got understood completely. He also got really serious when he heard the news about the death of the eye"

"..." Not saying anything is a good way of making the other person talk, and her nervous face is funny.

"Y'know, everyone also wondered what's up with the new guy when I said the eye got gunned down..." Her voice got smaller towards the end.

"..."

"..."

"..." She really thinks she's going to win the stare contest?

"...Um? Sorry?" She lost.

"For what?" My innocent voice came out innocently.

"I don't know! You're just looking at me weirdly like I'm guilty of a crime." She whined while flaunting her arms to the sides.

That's a pretty accurate description. Since I've assimilated Red Hood and Spider-Man.

"Alright, alright, I'm not petty enough to crash out for being asked a few questions." I said, calming her. "I just want to ask a few in return"

Maybe in the future, I will be petty enough.

"Oh! Ok, that seems fair" Eve relaxed in her chair.

"Well, for starters..."

...

As usual, the sun didn't greet me in the morning to wake me up.

Eleanor slept in another room of the inn, it worried me at first, but she doesn't like to wake up early, so sleeping in the same room would bother her.

I went out of the building to run.

My mornings have recently started with a run, I've never done morning runs before, but I always heard how it's something healthy to do, and I can't go back to sleep.

I run across the small village waving my hands at the few people in it.

One of my objectives with this run is to recognize... well, everything.

Terraria is familiar to me, that's why I chose this world to farm, but just arriving here I realized that there are differences, even if most things are the same.

The appearance of Eve, the main character, is the basic one from the game, she has brown skin, a ponytail, is slightly tall, and has no other significant features.

But some other things have changed, the guide shouldn't be so confrontative, the Moon Lord shouldn't be watching me, and the main character of this world should be... I don't know... Less expressive? I imagined her as an adult, a child, gender-bent, small, tall, African, American, and many other things, but not so expressive.

These aren't bad changes, just that I should watch out for anything that could come out differently from canon.

Whatever canon is in this game?

Seeing something in the forest to the side of the village, I slowly stopped running and turned to see what caught my attention.

A small vine extended itself from the ground, signaling for me to go into the forest, twitching grossly towards it.

"Oh, My Goooood..." I extended the word.

Isn't this a bit too straightforward? Am I going to get kidnapped?

"This better be something interesting..." It's just a forest, there are plenty of those in Terraria, maybe I would be scared if it was a jungle.

Changing directions, I ventured into the forest, the dense flora had parted itself and left me to follow a path towards a small lake.

Where I found a woman, sitting peacefully on a rock.

The vines around her body made for clothes that covered her private parts. Perfectly pairing with her bright green hair.

"Hello?" I asked just to be sure that she was the one who brought me here.

She is, but she doesn't know that I know that.

"Hello, outsider. My name is Calista, this world's dryad." She answered back while standing up and walking to me.

"I'm Arian, nice to meet you." She knows I'm not from here and she remarked it as the first thing she said.

"Before I start talking, I'm sure you might have many questions about the world you're in." She extended her palm to me, giving me the word.

"Nah, Eve told me most of the common sense here." I answered plainly, killing any atmosphere that she tried to make.

"...No questions?" She asks, a little disbelief in her voice.

"No, not really." I have, but I want to cut the ambient she's trying to make, this sage image she's trying to get.

"Alright..." She nodded and stared at me.

Not wanting to extend this meeting too much, I asked her. "So, why was I brought here? I don't think I've done something wrong or anything like that."

"Not at all, in fact, one of the reasons why I wanted you here was to thank you." She dismissed my worries as we walked towards a house.

A wooden house with a tree on top, something similar to Freya's house in God Of War 4.

Once again, I note this down as a difference from the original game.

Realistically(As much as the word can be used), it would be weird if a dryad, the manifestation of the world or something, just waited until the MC made her a house.

We entered the house and we sat down at a table, where there were two cups of tea waiting.

"Now, I wanted to talk to you for two reasons primarily" She raised her index finger.

"First, I want to thank you." She started by standing up and placing her hands together in front of her.

Not giving me the chance to say anything, she continued and explained.

"The eye of Cthulhu was part of something much grander, capable of destroying the very fiber of Terraria, the eye itself was terrorizing the various villages in the night, killing the normal folk before simply going away as if it was its right to do so." The dryad had some cold rage in her words, but she quickly recomposed herself and passed to the second point.

"The second reason is a question." What now?

"You see, when you came to this world, yesterday, Terraria welcomed you with its arms open, now, you killed a part of its biggest enemies"

"Yes..." Terraria is alive, it doesn't have a Gaia to represent the will of nature, but I remember seeing a lore page that explained this point.

"So it wants to know about your intentions here." Oh?

"Don't misunderstand." She said, maybe afraid I was going to say get defensive. "It's not exclaiming something like ¨How dare you enter my world?!¨ it's more of a ¨So, now what?¨"

"Hmm..." Should I tell her that I came to kill the guy they want to kill too?

Yeah, I probably should, that would give me both her support and Terraria's support. It can also fast-forward many of my actions.

For example, I don't know where the dungeon is, where are the corruption and the crimson, or how can I make certain items.

Also, I'm curious about the accessories of this world, the wings are rather useless, but...

Bio-form analyzer, metal detector, DPS meter, tally counter, and not to mention the several damage accessories, or the mana of this world, or the zenith.

And the technology... Oh! The technology... Since the MC always uses fancy weapons, everyone forgets about the technology, but the actuators, the teleporters, the clentaminator, the portal gun, the nanites, the logic gates... They are all worth the trip.

Terraria is too good for me, only better with a space station that I can just pick and take to my world.

...How is the outer space in God of War anyway?

Before going on a tangent, I should answer the Dryad. Since my mind got much faster, not much time had passed since she asked the question, but too much thinking and the situation became awkward.

"...I want to become stronger." I started.

"..." She knows that this is just the prelude to my words and doesn't react.

"So that I can fend off the dangers of my world, to do so, I want to fight strong things, stronger than me, and the strongest that this world can offer." She smiles at my words.

"If you can help me with that, then I would be glad to keep killing the enemies of this world" Whoa, I'm so good with words.

"Very well! Then, let me tell you now, that Terraria thanks and blesses you for your actions." The dryad stood up and shook my hand

"Sure, now..."

I stood up and opened the main door to her house.

"How do we start?"

...

The sun was shining down on me as if congratulating me for my decisions, and really, it probably was.

"Wake up girl, it's time for breakfast." I gently moved Eleanor from his sleeping position.

The girl couldn't groan at all, but she was greatly dissatisfied with my actions.

"Don't look at me like that. Why sleep when there's all of this sun, life, and energy around us?" I encouraged her.

The ¨I don't give a fuck¨ energy was palpable for her, but with a little bit of pushing she woke up and we started our morning routine.

Aside from running, she and I follow the instructions from the Hercules Method. Since the exercises aren't too taxing and it's only for a small amount of time, we do it before breakfast, not that any of us need to eat at this point.

For the past days before traveling, we got used to this routine, I woke her up, we exercised, and we ate breakfast.

After that, we would wash ourselves in a river, even if Eleanor doesn't smell, which supports my theory of her being some sort of cosmic eldritch that takes a human form.

I take the synthesizer from my inventory and take food out of it.

The food is good-looking and tasty, it also makes me temporally stronger with the buffs that I get from it.

Some consumables don't give me any buff though, mostly the ambiguous ones, the ones that are supposed to buff the damage or effectiveness of a mechanic in the game, like technique points; or the ones that buff my ¨Imaginary¨ Damage.

The ones that heal, buff, debuff, or buff some sort of damage that isn't natural to the verse are good to go, like the Physical enhancement paste.

Moving on, I check on my assimilations.

[Assimilation Process:]

-Roland Deschain - 83%

-Dante Zogratis - 21%

-Oliver Grayson - 08%

[Progress Bar: 54%]

That's right, I began to assimilate Oliver, Peter's assimilation finished before I traveled to this world and Dante's surpassed 20%, which means that I already had some decent dominion over his magic.

Not his gravity magic, but his Body control magic. Not only that, but I also got full access to the mana of Black Clover. Which is interesting, but too different and niche, only working for the basic notions that Godhood from God Of War can do better. Maybe once the progress goes up, I will be able to take inspiration from them, or mana zone.

Anyway, once I'm finished with Roland, Delsin goes next. I'm curious about the extent of his power.

Or even better, I could upgrade it. I haven't tested if the Power Upgrade cards work with powers that I got from characters, but if they do, then I will use them.

"Hehe." A small laugh escapes my mouth, and Eleanor gives me some intense side eye before deciding she doesn't care enough and continues devouring her meal.

It was already around midday and after washing myself, in a shower for the first time in too long, I went out of the inn with Eleanor at my side.

We continued walking until I got to one of the places that I wanted to see.

A decently sized building stood beside us, it had many doors, many windows, and smoke of various colors could be seen coming out of it.

At the entrance of the building, a large sign adorned with large and shining lights was begging to be noticed.

It said ¨Goblin's Workshop¨

"Uh-huh..." Absentmindedly, I didn't react too much to the sign.

I opened the double doors to the building, and I stepped in.

...

Eleanor had seen many weird things during her life. This didn't change in her new one.

After all, you aren't the daughter of something called "The Devourer Of Gods" without seeing weird stuff.

Even then, the image in front of her amazed her, in the worst sense of the word.

Her new master, who she's getting convinced is some kind of weirdo, is currently talking to the goblin tinkerer if the sign in the entrance is anything to go by.

Well, "Talking" isn't completely accurate.

"Those components don't work like that!"

"Have you ever tried them!?"

"What kind of idiot needs to eat shit to know it tastes bad!?"

"You, apparently!"

From what she could understand, they were "Debating" about certain gadgets that her Master wanted.

Something about some boots? He is adamant in his knowledge and insists that it can be created with certain steps.

Still, the situation is weird nonetheless, she would never have guessed that one day she would get a proper master, who would have an amicable talk with a creepy-looking goblin tinkerer.

Different from the one she knows too.

Should she get used to this? It's a nice life, but it still makes her feel weird...

Meh, it isn't boring, at the very least.

...

"Explain yourself! How is that even possible!?"

"I'm just built different."

"AARGHHH!"

The goblin tinkerer stood in awe at my genius, as I had completed something deemed impossible by ancient authorities from the beginning of time (Him, five minutes ago)

I think that I caught Eleanor's staring at me weirdly, but I'm seeing it wrong, right?

So, how did we get to this point?

It all started when I entered the building. In it, I saw many humans repeatedly interacting with various weapons, most of them were spears or some sort of armor.

I ignored them all and went to find the goblin tinkerer, whose name is Fjell, because I wanted to see what he sold and or could do.

I found him, introduced myself, and started talking about the possibilities and wonders of accessories, he didn't buy my words, I confronted him, merged some rocket boots and a pair of Hermes boots that I found in a shelf, and he finally bought my words.

"How is this even possible!? It just doesn't make sense!" He exclaimed, still salty about his wrongness.

"It would if you were smart enough."

"GOD FUCKING DAMNIT"

Covering Eleanor's ears, I shot him a mean-looking glance, to which he backed off a little.

Unlike the mild-mannered goblin tinkerer of the original Terraria, Fjell is a sassy goblin. He still has his manners, but he can get a little sarcastic when he talks.

It's not offensive or anything, he's not dumb enough to offend a potential customer.

He is gobsmacked at the notion of merging accessories, but I'd say that's normal.

That was more of a gameplay mechanic than anything, the same way as the treasure bags or respawning the bosses are.

By the way, the fact that the tinkerer is here means that the goblin invasion has been defeated, but since the terrarian protagonist was having a hard time with the eye, then the evil boss of the world should still be alive.

So we're throwing that mechanic out of the window? Is the witch doctor already here? What about the steampunker and the cyborg? I didn't find them in my run...

After an illuminating chat with Fjell, Eleanor and I went to the next location of interest.

...

*sniff* *sniff*

Once again, I'm in an uncomfortable situation.

The zoologist, who I never really considered when I came to this world, is currently in an...

interaction with Eleanor.

Well, "Interaction" sells it short.

The zoologist, Lori, is on the ground, belly up, and paws to the side in front of the child. Note, that this was after smelling her for a bit.

The child is posing like the Christ redeemer over the submissive animal, ani-woman? Beast girl.

"...The fuck?" Not caring about the child's ears, I used the words that described the situation the best.

"Don't swear! She might get angry..." Lori reprimanded me, her words came as nervously as she was scared.

"I highly doubt that." My voice was laced with disbelief, both in her statement and at the sheer stupidity of the situation.

She turned to see the little cosmic worm smiling, although that word its too nice for her expression, and released a sigh of relief.

The little shi-ugar plum had a smug in her face as if she was basking in the adoration of her subject.

While I can't blame her, as I also would be basking in my greatness if I was admired by a hot fox girl like that, I can bring her out of her stupor.

"Okay, never mind that. Eleanor, tell your subject to do her job properly." Already mentally tired, I grabbed the child by the neck.

Begrudgingly, she accepted, and the zoologist returned to her post behind her desk.

"Okay... Good morning, how can I help you?" As if nothing had happened, the zoologist asked us amicably, sitting like a common office lady.

The only proof of what happened is the beads of sweat running down her face and the ever-present smug on Eleanor's face.

"Nah, no way, nuh-uh. What the fuck was that?" My tone shifted from a disbelief-filled one to a doubtful one.

"What was what?" She asked, her voice coming out almost innocently.

Almost.

"Why did you...submit to her!?" I cut her bullshit and used the best set of words I could use.

"What do you..." She was about to feign ignorance but I slowly started releasing Eleanor from my grip. "Okay! Okay! You don't need to do that!"

She sighed and grabbed a tissue from her desk, that she used to clean her face.

"It's just...like, just look at her!" She stood from her chair behind her desk "She has the aura of a beast!" Lori pointed at the child with her finger.

Said child was putting on her best innocent expression, so innocent you would think Lori was completely insane.

"Uh-huh..." I didn't express it, but I kinda got her point.

She's probably sensing the superiority in the food chain or something like that. Eleanor's the child of a cosmic devourer, so she should be pretty high up there.

If she's his child, of course, but then that would mean the worm mated(?) with some sort of being...

And when Eleanor laughs she sounds like a cat, which I think should be a joke by the developers, but if it was something that's actually part of the lore...

Did the devourer have a cat-girl wife!?

Fuck you dude, I can forgive you for killing me a thousand times, but THIS????

I'm coming for you, remember my words.

"Ok, then. Moving on, this is a store right?" I don't want to think about the Devourer's romantic situation right now or at any time.

"Ah, eh, yeah, I mostly sell animal-related things." Lori sits and actually starts talking business.

Still slightly nervous because of the little devil shackled by my hand.

"Do you sell mounts, saddles, globes, a pylon, and/or a bestiary?" I listed the only things that could be useful for me.

"Uh, the mounts are in the stable that I have back, the saddles are already displayed, the globes too, and the bestiary is here." As she finished her words, she bends down her desk and brings up a thick book.

I take it from her hands and examine it.

It starts with an index, a disclaimer, authors, etc, etc... Then it shows the content.

There's almost everything in here, critters, animals, biomes, events, locations...

Locating the page in the index, I fast-forward to the monster sections. Where I find the usual monsters such as the goblins, the zombies, the skeletons...

I note some for later and check the events. There's the different moons, the goblin invasion, the pirate invasion, the old one's army...

Going a bit further, I find the locations, which are most importantly, the corruption, the crimson, and the jungle temple. No hallow since the wall of flesh is still alive.

Now that I mentioned it, didn't I have to summon the wall with-

"And I don't have a pylon, what am I? The dryad?" She said with sass in her voice, but I wasn't caring for her anymore.

I was busy memorizing the pages of the bestiary.

All of them, not a single one was spared from my gaze. I'm sure I can recall them all later, my memory is good, and if it wasn't, then it should be now.

"Done." I close the book and hand it back to the zoologist.

"What? You done already?" She asked.

"Yeah, I already got it all"

This was a useful visit, all things considered. So I bought the stuff, looked over the mounts, and got disappointed at the fact that the globes were just normal globes.

Well, it would be weird if throwing a globe to the ground had effects on the entire moon. With that range, you could just snipe the Moon-Lord or something.

...

Okay, those were the only two places where that I needed to check.

The merchant is just, well, just a common merchant who dabbled not only in selling starter items but many other things, such as the inn I stayed at.

I didn't bother searching for others that I was not too interested in, such as the nurse, dye trader, angler, and some others. Even if I know where they should be since there's a hospital and their respective workstations.

There wasn't a witch doctor or a clothier in sight, though. The witch doctor could've been useful but I don't mind losing him. The fact that the clothier isn't here means that Skeletron hasn't been defeated yet. Good.

Well, bad for him, but soon enough I will go to free him.

Now, I would normally go to the bar and see the tavernkeeper, who should be selling otherworldly weapons.

But it isn't open yet, so I'll just have to go back in the night when Eleanor's not with me.

"Hey, do we have something to do?" I asked the child, who was eating ice cream in a little cup.

She looked at me for a moment before shrugging and continuing to enjoy her food.

As a side note, I bought it. Yes, with money.

How? Well, very simple, back in Sparta I took a loan from the treasury around the buildings of the Parthenon...

I stole the money.

Yeah, I didn't feel so bad about doing it. Maybe because they are little assholes who sent me to war.

Anyway, seeing as how there's nothing else for me to do, I'll just go to the most interesting place I've visited.

...

"Oh! How... unexpected for you to be here." Said Calista, the dryad when she saw me approaching her tree house.

Her eyes glanced at Eleanor for a moment before looking me in the eye.

"Yeah, I got bored." I said, not bothering to hide my intentions.

"I...see?" Her eyes slightly widened as she answered.

"So, I was wondering if I could kill something to kill the time." Wow that came up weird.

She's looking at me weirdly now.

Eleanor slaps me softly in the leg and I quickly correct my words.

"I mean like, the eater of worlds or the brain of Cthulhu, maybe even the king slime. Not anything in general..." I said.

"Uhm." She recomposed herself and answered me. "Maybe it's too early? You've just arrived in this world and we talked just some hours ago. Actually, you didn't even know about the threats of this world until then."

Calista is right, in both things, but referring to the first; I came here in the early morning and now is a little past 1 pm.

"Yeah, maybe. But I'm the type of guy who prefers to do the hard things first and then the easy things at the end, so I want to get this out of the way." I said, addressing only the first part of her words.

"..."

"Y'know, like eating the part you don't like on your plate first, then the tasty part." I used a better analogy, even if I knew that was not the part she wanted me to talk about.

"I wasn't..." She began but gave up and sighed. "Shouldn't you rest?" She tried to convince me.

"Nah, it's fine, and I already got a bit familiar with the things I need to kill." I said, changing the subject fearing that she might ask me if I slept.

"Huh? How?" That woke her up since she stared at me with her green eyebrow raised.

"I went to the bestiary." I said while giving her an ¨Isn't it obvious?¨ eyebrow raise of mine.

"And it has them?" She asked.

"Obviously. Never underestimate an Investigator's desire to place even one more word in their research books" I said with fake seriousness.

Have you ever seen a science-fiction series wiki? That thing is full of minute details and sources that come from a book made 20 years ago in a language that didn't exist.

Imagine making a thesis of beasts, I mean, I've never made a thesis, but my mom has, and she described it as the(And I quote) most boring and annoying questionnaire ever made.

Thank god I don't understand that.

"Or their stupidity to travel to a place literally called ¨The evil of the world¨" She added while placing her hand on her forehead.

"Or that, yeah." I gave her that point.

"Anyways" Changing the theme, I addressed the reason why I'm here. "What's the first step towards the moon guy?" I sat on a rock and Eleanor sat by my side.

She sat down in front of me, in a chair made of plants and branches that she just conjured up I guess. That seems useful.

"...I don't think we should talk about this in front of a child." She said while worriedly looking at Eleanor.

"Don't worry, she's seen worse. And she's the child of something stronger than the Moon-Lord." I said while patting her head. Eleanor just gave a big smile to Calista, so big and innocent you would think she wasn't making fun of the Dryad.

"...I'm not going to open that can of worms, or address how you referred yourself in third person there."

I didn't? Ah.

"Eleanor isn't my child." I said correcting her.

"She's not? Then how come you're taking care of her?" She asked.

I know she's trying to change the conversation to another theme, but we will go back to killing the bosses anyway, so I indulge her curiosity.

"I..." Before I could answer, Eleanor sends me an intention through our mental connection, I look at her for a moment and she gives me a small smile. One that promises a prank.

"I kidnapped her" I looked at her with a charming smile, while Eleanor flashed one of her own.

"...I give up" She deflated in her chair, the plants moving to accommodate her and making sure she didn't fall off.

"Yeah, I have that effect on people." I said cheekly.

"Ughhhh."

...

Giving her a break from my charming personality. Both Eleanor and I traveled to the closest boss we could defeat.

The Eater Of Worlds.

And the brain of Cthulhu, of course.

Different from the game, both the crimson and the corruption are present in this world, I expected it since the bestiary had them, but still, I wonder how this worked.

The corruption is a manifestation of the bad thoughts of the people, while the crimson was a hive mind that had to regulate Terraria or something related to hive minds. I only have the vague pieces of lore and the dryad's ambiguous words to guide me.

To paraphrase Calista. "The Corruption is the bad thoughts of the Terrarians, the crimson looks out for the balance, and the Hallow is the overcompensation of purity against all the evil."

Whatever, let's focus on the issue at hand.

Eleanor covers her nose and winces as we get closer to the evil biome.

Over our heads, the sky was covered by dark purple clouds, similar to the color that the menacing mountains, depressive plants, and unfamiliar grass.

The dirt we stepped on felt uncomfortable, shifting weirdly as our feet tried to get used to it.

"The evil of the world..." It truly deserved that description, the environment here felt alive, and worse, it hated you.

Taking me out of my appreciation. A group of Soul Eaters came to attack us, I just took my gun out of the inventory and shot them until they died.

I remember that there was a chain gun dropped by a boss in late hardmode, so it's not a fair fight at all.

Still, I should probably get the time to use my magic or punch things until they die.

Eleanor summons her worm and makes it guard around us while I search for any chasm that lets us get to the true dangers of the biome.

Not that anything is that dangerous here, my worries lay in the devourer and his flames.

Eleanor's cosmic worm protects us as we fall by a hole that leads us to the inside, where I blast everything open with my mirror magic.

"Ugh, the light..." It contrasts with the darkness around us and bothers us.

The ray of light hits something and breaks it, to which I feel a shudder going up my back.

"Ohhhh..."

I keep on firing everywhere I see, and soon enough a scream echoes in the dark.

"Now, the last one."

The cosmic child gets on her worm and prepares to flee the underground.

Another ray pierces the air and breaks the last shadow orb, to which my spider sense lights up.

"Up we go." I jumped and climbed the walls, while Eleanor just flew away in her worm.

I sensed the big worm getting closer and closer, not caring about the destruction in his way.

Once we got to the surface, so did he.

The big ass worm is here.

...

I shot it.

The head was quickly disintegrated and the remaining body parts followed.

In less than 10 seconds the only things remaining were the still struggling tail, and dark strong scales.

"..."

"Well, that was disappointing." I said as emotionless as this fight made me feel.

Ugh, I don't know what I was expecting...

"Haah~" I sighed. "Let's just go to the next one."

I grabbed Eleanor in a bear hug and ran in the direction of the crimson.

Full power running this time. Faster than the walking pace that took an hour to reach here.

Soon enough, we passed the normal forest and reached the part where the crimson started.

Way more menacing than the corruption, but I don't want to hype it up with a good description just for the boss to die in one or two hits.

It's just a horrible place, with mouth-looking mounds coming out of the ground every few miles.

Walking in one of them, the path was worm-like until we reached the bottom, where a circular open space with paths coming out of the lower parts waited.

Some enemies tried to attack us, but they weren't worth mentioning.

Wordlessly, I fired magic rays to the paths, knowing that at the end laid the crimson hearts.

Once again, I feel a shudder run down my spine and screams are heard all around. I move to another path and shoot it again, to which my spider sense finally reacts.

I summon various mirrors to use as platforms and watch as the crimson creepers manifest out of holes in the ground, coming together to form and protect the brain of Cthulhu.

Looks horrible, but if you look past the floating eyeballs around him, it's just a brain.

A moving and wriggling brain, but a brain nonetheless. At least until I harm it enough.

"This isn't a fight, so just stay still and die" I waited until the creepers got into the space between the many mirrors around to shoot them until they all died.

They fell to the ground and through the holes in it, leaving burning tissue behind.

As they did, the brain grew more aggressive and it literally opened itself, showing a heart and an eye inside of it.

No problem, though, as I only need to shoot-uh.

There are four of them.

And they are teleporting.

"Back me up spider-sense." I closed my eyes and lowered my posture.

Still, the danger wasn't enough for a definite read, so I threw my gun into the inventory.

I waited...

And waited...

And waited...

And wai- The right!

With a strong leap, I dash through the air, spinning and delivering an axe kick straight to the heart of the brain.

Sending it flying down some meters, leaving me suspended until I summoned a mirror to stand on.

The brain fell to the floor, unmoving.

...

"So that happened."

"What do you mean ¨That happened¨?! They're dead?!" Said the doubtful dryad, placing her cup of tea down.

The sun shined through the window, hitting me in the face.

"Yeah, it was boring and a bother."

"How?!"

"Well, they were weaaaaaak." I said with exaggerated hand gestures.

"No, I mean how this fast?! It's like 6 pm!" She stood up and placed her hands on the table, slightly shaking it.

"Well, it took me almost six hours, a quarter of a day, it's not a small amount of time." I said dismissively.

"Huuh...Haah...Huuh....Haah..." Her breathing promised rage if I continued with my jokes.

"Uh... I just went to the biome, located the holes, broke the orbs that were there, and shot them until they died. If you want me to be more specific; I killed the brain by kicking its heart." I said with eyes slightly moving around anywhere but her gaze.

"That doesn't make any sense!"

"It kinda does."

"No, because you're telling me you went to one of the most dangerous places in the world, entered the enemy base, summoned the eldritch entity overseeing the entire biome, and easily killed them. Two times in like 5 hours"

"Yeah, I did." Nonchalant aura.

Wow, that was horrible. I will never make another joke like that.

"...You're making me think this is a normal occurrence." Calista said in a strange voice.

"It would be good if you got used to this, then. At least for the time being." I said.

"..."

Uh, was that offensive? Maybe I got too familiar?

Before I could try to correct myself, a smile appeared on her face, while not as big as the one I saw previously, I could tell it was different, more meaningful, and potent.

"Alright then, let's just get this over with." She said with barely hidden excitement.

"Exactly, what's the next thing to kill?" Trying to not kill her good mood, I agreed with her.

My objective will be done faster, so it's good for me too.

The three of us(Eleanor too) rose from our seats and went out of her house in a seemingly random direction.

"At the entrance of the old city, lies an old man, cursed by Cthulhu's skeleton." She explained the lore to me.

"Once night falls, the skeleton rises, terrorizing everything around the territory." She looked at me briefly while still walking.

"That's your new prey." She said solemnly, leaving me no room to make jokes.

"Very good, then."

And with that, we made the journey to the dungeon.

...Which was way slower than I would've liked, but eh, I'm not in a hurry.

A/N: Hello.

So, I thought hard about the world he could go to, and when the cosmic plushie came up in the gacha, I said ¨Why not?¨ and went ahead with this. Well, not in that exact motion, it was more of an ¨No way this fulfills everything, right?¨ and I got to investigate and, yes, it did fulfill every requisite, but they might change by the next time there's world travel. If there's a second, it's going to be later in the series, much later.

Since I didn't know what else to put here(I used too much brain power for the dialogues), let me talk about the characters.

The God Of War Trilogy doesn't have too many characters for us to interact with.

Most of them die or disappear mysteriously. There's a video in yt that explains what deities appeared or were represented in god of war but disappeared. The list goes from gods like Artemis, Apollo, Morpheus... To more niche characters, like Nike, whose only representation was a statue at the beginning of Chains of Olympus.

Well, my point is that I'm going(Or at least try) to include them all in this fanfic, obviously not now, but in many chapters ahead. Not only gods, but some other minor characters that appeared or were mentioned, or even the ones that should exist but we never encountered.

Theseus, Perseus, Eos, Orkos... Maybe I could include actual Greek characters like Cadmus or Bellerophon, who should exist since there was a Pegasus in GoW 2...

Is this a spoiler? I don't think so... I've already slipped a mention of Nyx at the end of chapter 13. Actually, I've mentioned Athena, Ares, and Hermes, and I've made an allude to Poseidon. God, I'm good at foreshadowing things.

Make your theories, people.

All said and done, I hope you enjoyed it, left a review, and bye bye.
