Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - Rain

"It's raining."

A man cloaked in black slowly walk through the faintly glowing streets of Eldor. The bricks that paved the road reflecting his mysterious visage.

Chatter could be heard from the various groups of people who roamed the city, clattering about as they went on with their daily life's.

The man suddenly stopped, staring at a building. The sign above reading "The Lotus Tavern."

The Lotus Tavern was notorious, its food was said to be heavenly and its atmosphere lively. Go anywhere in Eldor and you'd hear about.

Entering the tavern a cold breeze was let it, the hustle and bustle of the people inside ceased to be as all focus was abruptly brought upon the cloaked figure's entree. The slight chiming of bells was the only sound that remained in the tavern.

Creaking was heard as he treaded toward the front counter, the gazes of countless men following his every step. He spoke in a deep raspy voice as he finally reached the keeper, "Where's Asrith."

The keeper responded with caution, "And what business would a man like yourself have with Sir Asrith at this time of day?"

The man bore into the keeper with his pitch-black eyes that seemed darker than the pits of Tartarus, "Do you truly wish to test me, Maximus?"

Maintaining his cautious demeanor the keeper replied, "Mr. Glen, I'm sure you know very well I harbor no ill intent."

"In fact, I doubt even if I was still in my golden years that I'd be able to best you Mr. Glen."

Still keeping his eyes on the keeper Glen made a chilling remark, "Fate is calling, and his time is up."

Seconds pasted; the tavern once again entered a state silence. The light sprinkle of rain outside slowly turned into a full-on shower.

Turning around Glen headed towards the exit of the tavern, the tension in air vanishing with his passing. Making one more remark before he left, Glen said, "Maximus, you can't protect him forever, the strings of destiny have already been foretold."

Maximus peered into the back of Glen as he took his leave; his face slowly turned into expression of worry as he thought about Asrith.

The scene suddenly changes to that of a foggy forest, a man could be seen running through the woods as he fumbled through the wilderness.

"More time, I need more time." exasperated and exhausted breaths left his mouth as he entered a clearing.

A small cabin could be seen in the center of the field, it's lights apparent through the dense frog.

Approaching the cabin the man knocked on its door, a hopeful glimmer shining in his eyes. He waited, taking quick glances at the stillness of the forest. Time past briefly before the handle eerily turned, the door cracking open to reveal a thin short elderly woman.

She squinted, rubbing her eyes to focus her vision on the disgruntled appearance of the person who impeded on her mid-night knitting, "Just who might you be young man?"

In a somewhat desperate tone the man replied, "I-I'm Asrith, could I stay the night if you don't mind?"
