Faith's POV
A week has passed since Sindy asked me to think about running away with her. She was desperate to escape her abusive mate, Mathew .As my only friend ,who I considered family, I couldn't bear the thought of her facing the unknown alone .
Sindy has shared stories about Mathews abuse , and I often wondered if his behavior stemmed from childhood trauma . Maybe he grew up witnessing his parents physical fights and thought that was the way to show love . Still , that was no excuse for his actions. He was 23 for crying out loud ! He should know better that to resort to violence .
I met sindy at a restaurant, and she waved at me with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. I hated what we were planning , but i knew I had to support her .
As we sat down, she thanked me for agreeing to help. I couldn't help but think about the risks. "What if the plan goes wrong, and I die?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Sindy winked at me. "You won't die because we won't get caught." She had a plan, and as she shared it with me, I thought it might just work.
But as we prepared to put our plan into action, everything went wrong. We were packing and dancing around my one-room apartment when we heard a knock at the door. Mathew's voice sent chills down my spine. "Sindy, Sindy... baby, how could you be so stupid planning to escape?"
My mind was racing, a maelstrom of thoughts and emotions churning within me. How did Mathew know about our plan? The question echoed through my mind like a mantra, taunting me with its simplicity. Sindy, that careless, reckless...
She must have left a clue, a trail of breadcrumbs that Mathew had followed to uncover our scheme. Fucking Sindy. I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms as I struggled to contain my rage. Think, think, I told myself, my voice a cold, calculated whisper in my own mind.
I needed to think, to reason, to unravel the tangled threads of this mess and find a way to salvage our plan. But for now, all I could do was seethe, my anger and frustration simmering just below the surface, waiting to boil over.
But I had to think faster than the darkness that was closing in around me, faster than the rage that was threatening to consume me, faster than the consequences that would surely follow if Mathew exposed our plan.
Sindy panicked, but I knew I had to think fast. I spotted the window, and we jumped out, landing hard on the ground. As we ran, I saw Mathew's angry face, his eyes blazing with fury. "After them!" he shouted.
We ran until we reached the Nature's Forest, a half-hour journey from my apartment. I had no idea how far we'd run, but I knew we had to keep moving.
"Run, Sindy!" I yelled, my voice echoing through the darkness as we sprinted through the forest. Our pursuers were gaining on us, their footsteps crashing through the underbrush like a wild animal.
I couldn't believe how our night had turned out. It was all because of Sindy's stupid plan to sneak out of the kingdom.
I had known it was a bad idea from the start, but Sindy had been determined to go through with it. And now, here we were, running for our lives from a pack of snarling, snapping werewolves.
I sprinted through the forest , my heart racing with every snap of a twig. 'Run don't look back' I screamed to myself , the wolves and snarls are closing in .Those beasts would rip me apart , and Sindy would be the one to suffer the consequences of her own plan .
My feet pounded the earth in a frantic rhythm as I ran, my heart racing with fear. I had been so focused on putting as much distance between us and Mathew as possible that I hadn't noticed Sindy was no longer by my side. But then, her scream pierced the night air, and I skidded to a stop, my mind reeling with panic.
I spun around, frantically scanning the darkness for any sign of Sindy. But she was nowhere to be seen. The trees seemed to close in around me, their branches creaking ominously in the wind. I called out her name, my voice hoarse with fear. "Sindy! Sindy, where are you?"
The only response was the echo of my own voice off the trees. I took off in a sprint, dashing back the way we had come, my heart sinking with every step. What if Mathew had caught up to her? What if she was hurt?
As I burst through the underbrush, I see Mathew looming over Sindy, his fists clenched and his face twisted in a snarl. Sindy is cowering on the ground, her eyes wide with fear. Mathew's hand is raised, and for a moment, I think he's going to strike her. But then, I see that he's not hitting her... at least, not yet. He's standing over her, his chest heaving with rage, as if he's trying to decide what to do next.
It's a moment of tense, frozen terror. Sindy's eyes meet mine, and I can see the desperation and fear in them. Mathew's eyes flick towards me, and I can see the anger and hatred in them.
