,,Why am I chained again?"
After a few seconds nobody answers and just as I was about to call again and this time louder, something in my mind snapped.
*Ahhhh, AHHH*
I screamed.
"Fuck!"
That was all I could Muster bevor my mind exploded with new memories. Could you imagine, 17 years worth of memories, even though 7 of them I was in a coma, imprinted into your brain in a matter of seconds. All the embarrassing moments in my childhood, because I remember everything from day one. But also the trauma of losingy parents in a crash, which drove me to such grief, that I jumped of a bridge, injuring myself so that I landed in a coma.
But that wasn't all the new memories did. My old ones also were renewed. One thing was strange though.
Some of my memories were missing, the ones of all the other stories like fanfiction or books that were not about the marvel universe. My memories about my death was also missing.
Still the trauma wasn't the painful thing, the pain came really from all the new connections my brain made and the energy it took.
If the nurses didn't hear my scream before, now they would come running, because I made all the sensors flip out.
"Now that is a call for help, if I've ever seen one."
"Ah, nurse ..."
"Sorry, I don't know your name yet?"
"Emily."
"Thank you Emily. But are you allowed to talk to patient like that?"
"It's an gray area, but you wouldn't snitch on me would you?"
"No, but I could say you owe me one."
"Sure, but I have my limits and if you even cross one of my lines the deal is null!"
"Good to know, but could you please release me?"
'Even though they did help by restricting me.'
"Of course. Can I count it as the favor?"
"Very funny, but no, that's just you doing your job. I do need help though with the paperwork and the money for the stay here."
"There is no need for that, the stay is covered by your insurance and your godfather was already notified. You only need to wait for them."
And that is what I did. Two hours later a man, I recognized as Peter Derzel, my neighbor and a childhood friend of my mother, came storming in my room, were I ate to regain the energy I spend for the new memories.
"Hi there Michael." He said carefully.
"The nurses told my you don't have your memories back, which is apparently a common phenomenon. I'm Peter, a good friend of your mother."
"Yeah, I know. My memories came back again Mr Derzel."
"Huh? How? Why?"
"Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for you but even I with my limited knowledge about memory loss even I know, that that should not be possible."
"That's were you are wrong." Emily said. She must have come in earlier without us noticing. Something I should work on for the future. Lest someone could sneak up on me.
"We know far to less to know for certain how the brain works. And while I know that a lot of people would love to study your brain, it would be for the best to just accept it as a miracle."
'True, with all the crazy people out there and the criminal organizations, it would be stupid to make them want me as a guinea pig.'
"Let's do that. Thank you."
"Oh, I wanted to ask. Was the growth of Michael normal till now. I must admit I didn't follow his well-being as I should have."
"He is fine for his age. 1.84 meters in hight and 64 kilos. His weight is a bit low, because of missing exercise. But nothing a bit of sport and eating shouldn't fix."
"Perfect, his hair, is it really naturaly this white?"
"I wouldn't call it naturally but yes, no additional colour did this."
My godfather was now visibly more relaxed, though a bit of guilt still lingered in his face.
"So it is no mutation? No X- Gene?" I finally asked.
" We don't know of it is a mutation. It is an possibility. But what would it have to do with the X-Gene? You are a male so you would naturally have an X- Chromosome, if that is what you are asking."
'Yess, no X-Gene means no mutants!'
