Chris had his shirt soaked in blood; he could hardly be recognized because his face was covered with blood. He was surrounded by doctors and nurses trying to resuscitate him with a defibrillator but on attempts, Chris' heart kept failing and the EKG beeped with a flat line. The nurses shook their heads in disappointment while the doctor placed the hospital sheets over his head. One of the nurses announced his time of death and it was recorded. The medics started leaving the room one after the other, but while one of the nurses tried to disconnect the machines from Chris, the EKG kicked off again with rapid beeps. She panicked and called back for help. The doctor hurried back into the room and as he tried to touch Chris, Chris held his hand.

"He's my husband, I need to see him!" Temi yelled at the clerk.
'Calm down ma, what's your husband's name?"
"Uhm, Chris. Chris Philip.
"Okay," she said as she checked her database. "He is in ward 7, Upstairs."
"Thank you" Temi was about to rush upstairs but she stopped and turned back to the clerk "Is he awake?"
"He just got out of the emergency room, so… he should still be unconscious."
She exhaled in relief, "Okay".
"Ma, in case you have questions about your husband, Doctor Patrick is in charge. You can just ask for his office."
"Thank you." She made her way upstairs as she made the sign of the cross as she approached his room, she opened the door and behold Chris, his head was wrapped with white bandage. He lay unconscious on the hospital bed but as soon as Temi approached him, he frowned. His eyes opened wearily and his first sight was the ceiling, the smell of hospital disinfect plunged his nostrils, and his head hurt.
He looked at Temi who avoided his eyes but was sobbing. Then, he looked back at the ceiling. The door opened and the doctor came in,
"Your husband is a really strong man, he is recovering rapidly"
The doctor said checking the drip, "but unfortunately, he had a serious brain injury which resulted in loss of memory. He may not remember everything but don't get too scared. He will recover them with time."
Temi was surprised at the same time, glad. She looked at Chris who was looking at them and didn't utter a word. He didn't even move.
"Honey, honey… do you remember me?" she walked to him and sat on his bed, "I am Temi, your wife. Your one and only lovely wife." She said kissing his hands.
Chris frowned at her and shook his head. She forced her smile and brushed her hands against his face.
