Chapter 2 - Shattered illusion

Solana was driving on the expressway in her bright red car, the breeze rushing through her hair. She felt content, enjoying the calm moment. Solana was a hardworking and ambitious woman, managing a company where Sarafina worked.

Meanwhile, Solana, who had been on the move, arrived at her destination. She stepped out of her car, carefully applied some makeup, and adjusted her outfit—a pair of striking red heels, a sleek black skirt, and a pink shirt that complemented her straight, neatly combed hair. Solana carried herself with an air of confidence.

As Sarafina lay on her hospital bed, her thoughts wandered back to a painful memory. It was a time when she'd been belittled by her conniving mother-in-law, who had made fun of her struggles and insisted she shouldn't pretend to be fragile. Sarafina had been told she needed to focus on doing her house chores, just as before. The memory was a stark reminder of the challenges she had faced.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of the doctor. He informed her that she would be discharged soon, but only because she had outstanding medical bills. If the payments were not made, the hospital would no longer continue her care. Sarafina's chest tightened with worry. She had already reached out to her husband, Caleb, asking him to settle the debts using the funds he owed her, but there had been no response.

Elsewhere, at Caleb's apartment, Solana knocked on his door. The moment he opened it, she leaped into his arms, and their embrace quickly grew passionate. She pulled off his shirt, and the atmosphere between them turned electric with desire.

Back at the hospital, Sarafina decided to call Caleb once again, but he still didn't answer. Feeling desperate, she sent him a text about her treatment fees before reluctantly leaving the hospital in a cab. The journey home was quiet, yet her heart was heavy. As she gazed out the window, she wished for a different life—a second chance to right her wrongs and to be truly happy.

When Sarafina arrived home, she noticed something strange—the door to her house was slightly ajar. Her chest tightened as her eyes fell on a pair of red heels sitting at the entrance. Confused and alarmed, she cautiously stepped inside, her mind racing with questions.
