Chapter 1: Awakening
I'm Ray. But this isn't my world, or at least, it wasn't supposed to be.
One moment, I was living my life in my world, and the next, I opened my eyes to find myself in someone else's body—another Ray. The strange part? He looks just like me.
But this world is different from my own. Here, beasts have existed since ancient times—creatures so powerful that they've shaped history. The beasts in this world have ranks, and the highest among them hold god-like power.
The ranks are as follows:
Warrior Rank: These beasts are the easiest to tame and are not as powerful as the others.
General Rank: These beasts are stronger, each possessing a special ability tied to their bloodline.
Star Rank: Only five people in the world are blessed with a Star Rank beast.
God Rank: The most powerful beasts of all—legendary creatures with god-like strength. They dominate the world.
These ranks are divided further into three stages: Beginner, Intermediate, and Master. Only the most skilled Beast Masters are respected in this world—ruling not just with power but also with wealth and fame. They're celebrated like idols.
Today is Awakening Day.
On this day, every human who turns 18 undergoes the Awakening Ceremony, where they gain the ability to tame beasts. Afterward, the universities choose which students they wish to recruit based on their potential.
The ceremony begins.
The teacher starts calling the students by roll number. One by one, they step up to place their hands on a glowing crystal, which determines the level of talent they possess. Some students awaken normal talents, while others receive rare abilities that will shape their future.
Then, the number one beauty of the class, Seraphina Moonlight, steps forward.
Seraphina is everything people say she is—elegant, poised, and undoubtedly the most talented student in the school. Her silver hair shimmers in the light as she confidently places her hand on the crystal. The moment she does, the crystal bursts with a brilliant golden glow, signaling a talent so rare that only a few in the entire world possess it.
A collective gasp rises from the students. Her ability to tame even the most powerful beasts, the rarest of the rare, is beyond impressive.
The room is filled with whispers of admiration.
"I told you she'd do it," one of the students says, awe in their voice.
I can't help but feel a twinge of envy as I watch her. Of course she's the top student. She's perfect for Beast King University.
Finally, the teacher calls my name. Ray.
I step forward with a lump in my throat. I place my hand on the crystal, hoping for something—anything—but the light that emits from the crystal is a dull green, signaling average talent.
A few murmurs ripple through the room. Average talent…?
I sigh quietly, disappointed, but then—something strange happens.
A voice echoes in my mind, a deep and unearthly tone.
"Legendary Beast System: New host selected. Synchronizing… 10%… 20%… 40%… 70%… 90%… 99%… Synchronization complete. Now, the host can use the system."
I freeze. What is this?
The voice continues, calm and mechanical. "Host now has access to the Legendary Beast System. You can tame any beast by increasing its rage level."
My head spins. What? Rage level? What does that even mean?
I stand there, still processing, when I hear the voice again. "Rage level indicates how angry a beast is. By increasing the rage level to its maximum, the host can easily tame any beast."
I blink in confusion, trying to understand this new power. I can tame beasts by making them angry?
The teacher, noticing my confusion, motions for me to step aside. "Ray, you're done. Go home for the day. Tomorrow, university representatives will come to choose students."
As the ceremony ends, the students begin to file out. Their conversations are filled with excitement about their future at various universities. I'm still stuck on the strange system inside my head. How can I use it to my advantage?
As I walk out of the school, my thoughts drift to Seraphina Moonlight. She's already destined for greatness, and I—well, I'm still figuring out how to tame even the weakest of beasts. But something tells me this new system will change everything.
