Old Conner's eyes lost focus as he stared at Neo's figure writhing in pain. His lips quivered as he was finally able to make a sound, "Captain, Neo is showing signs of losing control!." Old Conner cried out. A few seconds after Old Conner cried, the withered, archaic door burst open as Casey rushed in towards the room.
He held a leather tome which had ancient writing on the sides, it had symbols of The Eternal Blazing Sun and a Dragon fighting the Blazing Sun, the middle of the tome was adorned with an amethyst crystal. This was the Sealed Artifact 3-04, it had the ability to absorb corruption, inclination of losing control and mental problems, a boon to almost every Beyonders. But it had a deadly side effect of distributing these problems towards the people present in an area of 20 meters.
It was created by the fusion of a Psychiatrist and Solar High Priest's Beyonder Characteristic, a deduction made by Neo. Captain Casey instantly opened the tome sideways trying to draw out Neo latent corruption. She expected a huge resistance but instead the mystical book acted like an ordinary book. Casey almost thought she brought the wrong book when suddenly Neo's eyes fluttered open.
Aeough Aeough
Neo coughed out as he regained control over his body, he slowly stood up with Captain's help, "I'm fine Captain Casey." Casey gave a grimm expression, "You better be, I stole this Sealed Artifact without taking permission. I am soo getting scolded by the Archbishop"
Neo gave a slight chuckle, "You really care that much about me huh, Captain?." Casey's eyes twitched as she sighed, "Shut it, but what really happened to you Neo?"
Neo gave a self deprecating smile as he said, "Nothing really, I just learnt a few things I really didn't wanna learn. It was just the Hidden Sages ramblings. Quite chatty for a Deity." Casey nodded to his words, from the Churches encounters with the Moses Ascetic Order they had learned that the Mystery Pryer pathway was chased by knowledge.
The Deity of that pathway too gave forbidden knowledge to advancers of that pathway, this was both a boon and bane. Neo paused as he continued, "I want to retire to my quarters now Captain Casey."
Casey seemed to be conflicted for a few moments before she gave her tacit agreement. With that Neo returned back to his quarters within the confines of Saint Hierländ Cathedral.
"...."
Neo quietly laid down on his bed, his room wasn't that big, it was the size of a small room in a cottage. The bed was laid on the East and there was a small oak side table on the left-hand side of the bed. Directly in front of the bed was a small work table, which was littered with papers and diagrams. All in all, it was pretty comfortable and spacious with a cozy feel.
Neo was provided this room by the Church specially, it was partly to monitor him and keep others safe from him if there was any unexpected development in his existence, according to Captain Casey. It was just captivity with more steps and words.
Neo rested his head on the warm pillow, contrary to others he really liked warm pillows, it felt refreshing. His eyes slowly became wet as he recalled more of the information he regained from the Knowledge Moor. The Sefirot which was supposed to be sealed in the Western Continent had now started including the outside world.
This also resulted in him remembering the information that was wiped from him due to his transmigration, no it was not a transmigration or was it actually a transmigration?. This was the question that had been plaguing him from the time he woke up.
Some of the more dangerous memories had been wiped and he could only regain them when he was in the Knowledge Moor or once he became an Angel. But the memory he gained from his arrival there changed his point of view, this was not a different world, this was Earth!.
The awakening of the Original Creator resulted in the combination and destruction of the continents completely changing the geography. But in the end, this was Earth itself!; but therein lies the fact that the world of Lord of The Mysteries was a book in his world, it was fiction. So was this his Earth or the Lord of The Mysteries Earth.
This was a huge conundrum, if this really was his Earth all his motivations of becoming a Beyonder was gone, there was no need to ascend the sequences, his goal of returning back no longer existed. Neo soon reined in his thoughts and brushed his tears away, as he faded to the sea of subconsciousness.
"....."
The Sun shone brightly upon the City of Miracles as the light cascaded down the street. The children happily and joyfully danced around the street, a stark contrast to the gloomy and dim environment the City had.
In the highest part of Saint Hierländ Cathedral, the Machinery Hivemind was undergoing a debriefing on their new assignment. Neo sat at the furthest part of the room as his eyes were particularly red, his skin had turned pale as his eyes had a hint of lifelessness.
"The Aurora Order has established a new gathering in Backlund, our mission is to covertly discover they're aim and to surveil their actions to see if they're trying to turn the citizens into believers.
We'll move out during nightfall, Neo will be the one to infiltrate the gathering; me, Cassie, Sam, Orion and Ash will form a perimeter hundred meters away. Remember, this is a long form mission and we'll be surveilling them over days. We've been cleared to use Sealed Artifact 3-07."
Casey soon looked towards the pale boy, "Neo do you understand?." Casey didn't get a response from Neo as she called out to him once again in a heightened tone, "Neo did you hear what I said?."
Instantly Neo snapped out of his stupor, "Sorry, could you repeat that once again?." Casey sighed, "You're running point on the mission to infiltrate the Aurora Order's party, got it?"
Neo gave a slight nod, "Is that all Captain?." Casey massaged her forehead as her lips twitched, "Yeah that would be all." Hearing that Neo took his leave and disappeared from the sunny room.
"God what is with him?, one near death experience and he's already down." Casey muttered quietly.

A/N - This chapter was a bit hard to make, I don't think I captured the emotions well. But eh I tried my best, I wanted to show what would happen if a MC discovered his dream of returning home was gone. None of the fics I've read cover this, they show them using their future knowledge and everything but not how they would deal with they're knowledge of not being able to return. They just gloss over that fact. Did I capture the emotions well, if not how can I do better
