Well, it's not that no one can find it. But there is one person who seems to be exempt.
....
Nagato sat under the tree. It felt strange that his emotions just came out when he remembered his past.
The past, if he could he wanted to forget about it. But all the memories of his only parent, his mother, were in that past.
If she could forget it, what would be the meaning of her life now?
She could still be alive, have a new place to live, a new family, new siblings, and her life would never be better than it is now.
In a way, the Cinderella story happened to her.
From a shabby rural child, to a rich handsome prince who never lacks anything.
Just like the story of Cinderella, being lifted from the ground to the bright sky.
Cinderella didn't sacrifice anything in the process, did she? The girl didn't lose anything.
But she herself? Her mother left for good. The departure of her only parent was replaced with all the glory she now had.
She never understood. Why in order to keep her alive her mother had to die. Couldn't they just take her and at least let her mother live even if it was only in the remote countryside?
Why. They. Have to. Kill. Her mother?!.
*Krrrt krrt
The tree behind Nagato trembled softly. Leaves fell but did not hit the ground. The leaves were floating around Nagato.
Seeing the phenomenon happening around him Nagato took a deep breath trying to calm down. But for this time it's a bit difficult.
Maybe it was because of the emotions and hatred that had accumulated over the past few years.
Nagato once again took a deep breath and tried to calm down.
After some time, the anomaly caused by Rinegan was finally unraveled. The tree behind Nagato swayed gently in the wind again and the floating leaves fell back in line with gravity.
Nagato choked and coughed a few times. Not that he wanted to cry. But perhaps because the emotions of a child's own body are often unstable, Nagato felt that his nose felt sour.
Whereas in his old world he was used to hiding his hatred for years in order to survive. But now, just once he recalled those memories. As if tears immediately threatened to fall from his eyes.
Kaak kaak!
Nagato didn't need to turn his head to know who the owner of the voice was. He just buried his head between his knees as he smiled. "Why is it always you who sees every pathetic side of me."
"Come here Itachi." Nagato looked up.
Itachi landed on Nagato's knees. Ignoring Nagato who continued to stare at him, the crow began to groom his feathers as if he thought Nagato's leg was just a tree branch on which he was perched.
Nagato looked at the black bird who was thinking of him as a tree branch.
If Nagato knew what the blackbird was thinking maybe this very second Nagato would pluck the bird's ugly feathers one by one.
"You know, the longer I watch you, the more I think that you're getting more and more like Itachi himself. Except for that unique skill and hobby of yours. You're an observer, watching everything in silence. Then acting in the dark. Making sure everything runs smoothly without expecting anything in return."
"You're even always the one who sees me at my worst. But you just always stayed quiet and accompanied me. Didn't object or ask why. Or is it because you're a bird so you don't know what the human mind is like?. You're lucky you weren't born a human you know."
"Humans are..., complicated." Nagato brushed Itachi's feathers. Making a mess of it again.
Itachi clearly wasn't paying attention to what Nagato was saying. All he could see from earlier was that his neat book was now falling apart because of Nagato's behavior. Itachi angrily pecked the hand that had messed up his fur.
Nagato happily toyed with the fury of the crow in front of him before suddenly catching the bird's beak. His other hand embraced Itachi in his arms. Silently covering the silver ring attached to Itachi's leg.
Itachi, the angry crow moments ago is now completely immobilized as his body is in Nagato's arms. And his head couldn't move either. The only thing that could move were his eyes which stared bewildered at Nagato.
Not far from where the two of them were, a black mist began to gather. In the midst of today's sunny day, the collection of fog looks striking.
Without opening his voice Nagato asked Itachi to leave. Itachi was silent for a moment, perhaps the bird didn't understand why Nagato was suddenly telling him to leave through his mind.
"Oi, Itachi. I apparently forgot to bring a pencil. Can you please get me one? I think there's plenty of stationery on Uncle mummy's desk, just grab one. Or you can ask Nezu-san for one. He usually never refuses you, right?" Nagato gazed at the crow's head in his arms lightly. But in his mind Nagato hissed.
"You sided with that rat just for some snacks didn't you. What a traitor." Nagato's words sounded terrible in Itachi's head.
As soon as Nagato released Itachi, the bird flew away as fast as it could without looking back.
Nagato leaned against the tree casually. Paying absolutely no attention to the person who was now coming out of the black mist. Completely assuming the person was transparent and ignoring him.
Nagato lightly went back to tracing the faded drawings that had been printed in his sketchbook.
"Yoshihiro-"
"You know Shigaraki, your arrival here makes me think if you are stupid or overconfident?" Nagato immediately cut off the person's words because he was not in the mood to hear all the nonsense that the antagonist would say.
Shigaraki hadn't even said her purpose for infiltrating this place but her words were already cut off by the little boy in front of her. The hand that was going to scratch her neck as usual unintentionally scratched her own neck out of emotion.
Shigaraki caught her breath. "I haven't even said anything yet."
"You already said one earlier." Nagato looked up from his seat.
"That doesn't count as a sentence."
"But it can count as a word, right?" Nagato stared at the hand-covered person boredly.
Seeing the annoying gaze from Nagato, Shigaraki had the urge to squeeze the boy's neck and watch it unravel slowly in her grasp. She wanted to see how the expression of pain and despair from the boy who always put on that annoying face.
"...Whatever." Shigaraki hissed. "I'm here to remind you, I will take you home. Whether it's with or without your own will."
"I refuse." Nagato said briefly. The villain's headquarters was unpleasant from the start. There was nothing interesting there. Moreover, it was very likely that Nagato could meet the other league of villains if he went there. Nagato once disliked a bunch of weird people with weird obsessions.
The only place home for him was the real world. Although he never liked the reality of the world itself.
"If you came all the way here just to persuade me to return to your dirty place, then I will crush your hopes Shigaraki. I do not want and will never return to you. You can cry and wail on your senses tonight." His habit of being sharp-tongued.
Nagato didn't care if Shigaraki would go berserk. This was UA territory. Which was arguably the headquarters of the Pro Hero. Even All Might himself also taught at this school. What is certain is that two villains are no match for a group of Pro Heroes.
"You son of a bitch. Don't call Sensei with that annoying mouth of yours Yoshihiro. I warned you." Shigaraki growled.
"I see, but I'm not afraid of your empty warning, Shigaraki. This is UA, you infiltrating here is like a mouse entering a tiger's den. You're digging your own grave, you know." Nagato raised his eyebrows arrogantly. Playing on Shigaraki's unstable emotions was very easy for him.
Shigaraki scratched her neck restlessly again. Getting stronger and stronger he scratched it until it was red. Maybe soon it will be able to bleed.
Shigaraki glanced at Nagato who was looking at her normally without any fear or worry in her eyes. Once again the urge to lunge forward and grab the boy by the neck repeated itself in her head.
But Shigaraki resisted the urge and then as if remembering something her hand stopped scratching her neck restlessly.
"I just remembered. Kurogiri, get me that file." Kurogiri handed over the requested object.
"I will tolerate your insolence this time, Yoshihiro. You might change your mind if I show you this." Shigaraki held up a red file.
'Yoshihiro Nagato, class S subject.'
That was the title. Even without rhinegan Nagato was able to see the title clearly.
'Is that ....?'. Nagato felt something inside of him as if jolted after reading that title.
A feeling of uneasiness flooded him suddenly. But even Nagato himself wasn't curious about the file.
Nagato looked at his body for a moment. From the beginning he had indeed realized that 'Nagato' never left this body. Because Nagato can also sometimes feel the emotions released by 'Nagato'.
But 'Nagato' never wanted to come out. The child just always hides in the depths. As if avoiding this world.
"You know what this is, Yoshihiro?. All of your origins. Haven't you ever wondered before why you could never remember your childhood?. Aren't you curious?" Shigaraki spoke in a dull tone while carelessly flipping through the file in her hand as if it were a daily newspaper.
Nagato's fingers imperceptibly twitched every time her eyes saw Shigaraki flipping each sheet of the file.
"Smart people say that humans have many different traits. But among all those traits, there must always be a trait that is usually superior to the others. And that differs depending on each person's character. But what I know for sure. One trait will be the winner out of all the others. Curiousness. Living things are always like that. They're always curious about everything even if they know it's risky. And that trait is the most dominant in humans."
"This, this thing in my hand. I know you want to see what's inside." Shigaraki waved the file in her hand. Then a second later the file was thrown and fell into Kurogiri's black mist.
Nagato's eyes never left the red-bound file. Even when Shigaraki threw it into the mist, Nagato still stared at the mist for a moment before turning to the villain.
"I hate to admit it, but I know you can be smart and think realistically Yoshihiro. You know where to get that file. I'm waiting Yoshihiro." Shigaraki smiled widely behind the hand covering her face.
"Even if that file cannot attract your curiosity. If I remember correctly, your guitar is still in my dirty place, remember? You're right, my place is indeed dirty. So I'll probably do some cleaning soon. Don't let me accidentally throw your stuff away because I consider it trash, Yoshihiro. Remember that."
A black mist then enveloped his entire body and Shigaraki and Kurogiri vanished from the place. It was as if there had never been anyone else there before.
"Don't you dare, Shigaraki!" But the two villains were gone.
The villain was gone. But Nagato was still staring at the place where the person was standing before. "...Shit."
It came out again. Nagato could feel the emotions of the 'Nagato' in this body coming out again. But as he expected, 'Nagato' only let out his emotions. But the person who caused the emotion never wanted to come out.
Nagato gripped the sketchbook paper tightly without feeling it.
Srak. He only turned his head when he heard the sound of tearing. Two sheets of drawing had been torn.
Nagato let go of the paper he had torn. Besides being torn, the paper was also crumpled because he had gripped it tightly before.
It turned out that it was a drawing he made when he was with Ryosuke first. When they busked in the park together.
Nagato expressionlessly stared at the drawing for quite a while before quietly whispering. "I won't let them Ryosuke, you don't have to worry."
....
Nezu was drinking an ocha in between doing paperwork before the creature choked on Nagato's words on the laptop screen beside him.
"You know, the longer I watch you, the more I think that you're getting more and more similar to Itachi himself. Except for that unique skill and hobby of yours. You're a watcher, watching everything in silence. Then acting in the dark. Making sure everything runs smoothly without expecting anything in return."
"Uhuk uhuk. Why do I feel like this sentence is insinuating me. Is Nagato-kun really praising Itachi?" Nezu smiled wryly.
"Well, although I think that way. Only Nagato-kun himself knows the meaning of his own words." Nezu got up from the chair and grabbed some chips from the side cabinet.
Unbeknownst to anyone else, it turned out that the UA principal's office had kept a large reserve of snacks. Something that would probably never be found in most teachers' offices.
Nezu casually selected one of the flavors. "Maybe Itachi will stop by here soon." From the way he spoke it was obvious that Nezu liked and pampered the raven.
