Firstly, this is only the first part of the book; there will be two in total, and the story will have a clear ending.
The idea for this novel has been with me for several years. One Piece has been my favorite anime since I was a teenager. After my grandfather passed away several years ago, I started to reflect on his generation (he was born in 1935) and learned a lot about the so-called "silent generation."
Like most generalizations, the term "silent" doesn't quite fit everyone born between 1928 and 1945, but one thing that struck me was how conservative this generation was. Not necessarily conservative in a political sense, but certainly very frugal, hardworking, and not eager for too much change. This generation believed in things like "George Washington never lied" and was generally very patriotic. They lived in a strange time after World War II and trusted the federal government much more than people do today.
It wasn't long before I connected these ideas with how the Marines are portrayed in One Piece.
The Marines in One Piece are the bad guys... or at least, they uphold the rules of the bad nobility, right?
Well, the more I thought about it, the more interesting it became. After all, how is it even possible to have a global organization in a world of archipelagos? I found this to be a truly intriguing idea.
In general, after years of telling myself short stories while mowing the lawn or relaxing before bed, I decided to write them down.
So here's the deal: I will finish this story. I will write for 2 hours every day unless there's a really serious reason preventing it. I think I can write one chapter every two days.
Even though I've carried this idea in my head for many years, this is the first thing I've ever written. It might not be perfect, but I will try to get as close as possible.
There will be no illogical "twists." That being said, the world of the Grand Line includes people with supernatural abilities. The main character is not omniscient, so there may be moments when something happens without an obvious reason.
As for the characters, I will take some liberties.
FOR EXAMPLE, the father of the main character is the admiral "Green Bull." At the time of writing, the only known things about him are his devil fruit and name. Therefore, I will develop his character by adding more details. In the future, these details will obviously be incorrect, but this is where this fanfic begins.
One can assume that this work generally aligns with events up until the Wano arc in terms of canon.
Practically, this means that the strength of some characters will be greater than their manga counterparts. I did this considering "power escalation." For example, I don't think it makes sense that 99% of the Marines in East Blue are ordinary people. Therefore, in this work, East Blue will still be the weakest sea, but not so weak that the main combat force consists of regular humans.
I will adjust the timelines, but NOT the sequence of events. For instance, the main character will be the same age as Koby, BUT Luffy will not leave his village until he is 18 and will not leave East Blue until he is 20. He will not defeat Crocodile until he is 21, Enies Lobby will occur at 24, and Marineford at 27, and he will be 30 during the events on Fish-Man Island.
Do not expect the Straw Hat Pirates to appear until much later parts of the work. Most of the characters shown here will either be minor characters from the anime/manga who will be given a larger role or original characters.
I will expand the organization of the Marines using a mix of the modern United States Navy, the Imperial Japanese Navy, and fantasy titles/duties.
TO BE CLEAR:
This story is not a retelling of the Straw Hat Pirates' tale in the world of One Piece. In this fanfic, the Straw Hat Pirates will participate because they perform crazy feats, but this will only happen in the second half of the first part, and even then, the main character will have different tasks and goals that may or may not align with theirs.
There will be no plot where the main character follows in the footsteps of the major pirate crews and solves problems before they arise, as he does not know the future. He may find himself in such situations because the Marines are a global organization, and he may capture major or minor pirate crews, but he will never be sent to a specific place just because he has read the manga.
Please pay attention to the tags. I may expand on them in the future, but they already reflect the main points of the fanfic.
