Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3: THE AFTERMATH

Xender was shaking and panting as he lay on the ground. Over her, with worried expressions on their faces, stood Rufus and Peter.

"Are you okay?" Rufus asked in a harsh, low voice. Still struggling to gather her breath, Xender nodded. Stuttering, "Y-yes, I think so," she said.

Peter crouched next to her, looking over her body for wounds. His words were, "We need to get you out of here," "You're not safe."

Xender nodded, appreciative of Peter's assistance. She couldn't help but notice how his eyes wrinkled at the corners when he grinned while he assisted her in standing up. Rufus, however, had a severe and solemn expression.

"We need to get her back to the pack's headquarters," he stated. "Now." Xender was positioned between Peter and Rufus as they strolled. She was so near to them that she couldn't help but feel excited. It appeared that Peter in particular was trying to keep near her.

As they walked, he held her tightly by keeping his arm around her shoulders. The thought that Peter might be interested in her had Xender's heart skip a beat. She wondered whether Rufus thought the same thing.

Xender had a wave of relief as they got closer to the pack's headquarters. For now, at least, she was safe.

However, Xender was met with a surprise when they entered the building. People were everywhere in the pack's headquarters, and they all appeared to be staring at her.

With authoritative flashes in his eyes, Rufus took a step forward. Saying, "This is Xender," "She's under our protection now."

The audience appeared to agree with Rufus's remarks as they nodded. However, Xender couldn't get rid of the uneasy feeling.

She was scanning the room when she spotted a figure standing in the rear. The woman had piercing emerald eyes and beautiful, flowing hair.

The woman's eyes met Xender's, and she felt a chill go through her. Xender couldn't quite place her, but there was something familiar about her.

Xender was apprehensive as the woman started to approach her. What did this woman want, and who was she?

However, the woman spoke before she could ask any questions. "Welcome, Xender," she murmured, animosity evident in her tone.

"I've been waiting for you." The woman's words lingered in the air, and Xender's eyes widened in surprise. Then everything went black as abruptly as it had started.

Xender sensed that she was slipping through time and space. Breathless, she landed with a bang. She became aware that she was in a totally different location as she looked around.

She stood amid rusty old pipes and stone walls in a damp, gloomy cellar. But Xender's blood ran cold because of what was on the walls.

She, her family, and the pack were all included in the photos. And in the middle of it all, a message was written in red ink on the wall: "You're mine now, Xender. Forever.

Xender felt a sinking heart. She didn't know who was responsible, and she was stuck. But as she looked closer at the message, Xender saw something peculiar.

The handwriting looked familiar. It was her own. Xender's eyes widened in disbelief as she glanced at the letter. How could she have written this? She had no recall of it. She felt a rush of panic wash over her. What was happening to her?

 Was she losing her mind?

As she peered around the cellar, Xender saw something else weird. There was a little table in the corner of the room, with a single chair seated in front of it.

A little piece of paper with the following message written on it appeared on the table: "Come up to me. -P. When Xender realized who must have authored the message, her heart skipped a beat. Peter.

She had a rush of both terror and excitement. What was it that Peter desired from her? Why was he keeping things from her?

The sense that she was being watched persisted as Xender walked upstairs.

She continued to glance over her shoulder in the hopes of spotting someone hiding in the darkness. However, nobody was ever present. Xender noticed Peter waiting for her in the corridor when she had made it to the top of the stairs.

"Peter, what's going on?" Xender asked, attempting to maintain a steady tone. Peter grinned, enjoyment shining in his eyes. "I think it's time we had a little chat, don't you?" "I said." With some apprehension, Xender nodded. What would Peter say to her?

As they proceeded down the corridor, Xender observed that photos of her were arranged along the walls. photographs of her with her family and as a child.

Xender felt a sinking heart. What was happening? How come there were so many photos of her? At the end of the hallway, Peter came to a stop in front of a door.

His voice was deep and enigmatic as he stated, "This is where we keep the truth," When Peter pulled the door open, Xender's heart skipped a beat. And her blood ran cold when she saw what was within.

There were clones of her all throughout the room.

They were copies of her with various hairstyles and ages. Staring at the clones of herself, Xender's eyes widened in dread. What was happening?

Why did so many copies of her exist? Peter spoke in a deep, enigmatic voice. "You're a genetic experiment, Xender," he stated.

"A hybrid of human and supernatural DNA." As Xender attempted to comprehend this knowledge, her mind was spinning. An experiment with genes?

Even so, what did that mean? Peter then revealed even another shocking revelation.

"You're not just any experiment, Xender," he stated. "You're the key to unlocking the secrets of the supernatural world." Xender's heart thumping in her chest, she fixed her gaze on Peter's. What was he trying to say? What secrets were he discussing?

However, the room's door flew open and a figure stepped in before she could ask any inquiries. Rufus appeared, his enraged eyes flashing. He snarled,

"Peter, what have you done?" Peter grinned, amusement glimmering in his eyes. "I've just been telling Xender the truth, Rufus," he replied.

When Rufus's gaze met Xender's, she briefly believed she saw something there that appeared to be nearly like love. However, he glanced back to Peter as his face stiffened. In his words, "You're coming with me, Peter," With a slight smile lingering on his lips, Peter shrugged.

When he answered, "I don't think so, Rufus," He then extended his hand to touch Xender's face. Everything turned dark. Xender was laying in bed with her head throbbing when she woke up. She got up and looked around, attempting to recall her location.

Then she caught sight of him. Peter was observing her every action from a chair next to her bed. "Welcome back, Xender," he whispered in a husky, low voice.

When Xender discovered the reality, her heart missed a beat. She was stuck. The only person who knew the truth was Peter.

However, as she gazed into his eyes, Xender noticed something that chilled her. a glimmer of ownership.

Then, with a tone full of hate, Peter spoke. Saying, "You're mine now, Xender," "Forever.
