Chapter 140 - 139. Observing fauna, 2

(Rose)

We left at dawn. I told them of our odd ambition to plant a seed somewhere that would make us regrow if something happened to us. They seemed to understand. It's history from the new world marching on and they were accustomed to it long before us. Like most things that were unthinkable before, it can somehow make its way into plausibility today.

They told us of a swamp not far from here, that could be suitable for such strange designs of gardening. Blume things a place like that with lots of water is best.

So we'll go take a look. Maybe we'll set the terrain ready. And we'll leave. Blume isn't ready yet for such an ambitious creation. These are the first steps toward it.

When we'll come back, maybe we'll be able to plant the seed of our next life to grow.

She will prepare it somewhere in our body and mind until then.

B - This swamp does look good.

R - Why is that? I know water is important to plants, but my body is rather human after all.

B - Plants and animals are made of similar components. And they include a lot of water. It's easier to create life when you have lots of it available close.

R - We do need to drink as much as we eat now that you mention it.

B - A swamp also has more nutrients and aminoacids. Truly this place is good.

R - Okay... Alright then. We'll remember this place. Maybe one day years from now, we will resume our journey from here.

B - And meanwhile, let's cherish the life we have, shall we?

R - Certainly. Let us go little flower on my arm and chest.

B - Rose...

R - Yes?

B - I love you.

One of the flowers rises to brush lightly my cheek. I feel good with her too.

It's raining. I walk in the middle of the old road with a large umbrella to shelter us. The music of the rain is rather enjoyable since it doesn't rain too much and the temperature isn't cold.

B - Rain makes me thirsty.

R - Me too actually. I'm not eating mud again today though. It tastes terrible.

B - Oh come on. It'll make your skin grow strong like a shell.

R - I said no, mean spirited flower.

B - Can you at least lie down a little while, so I could drink some more water? It's interestingly salty.

R - I'd rather not get too damp... Salty you say? That's odd for rainwater.

I lick my wet hand and do taste the salt from the rain. What's going on?

R - That's odd.

B - It tastes better.

R - I wonder how salt got in the clouds.

B - It's seawater perhaps?

R - I don't see how that would be possible...

And then we see a little fish falling from the sky onto the grass a little further. The fish jumps around until it suffocates.

B - See, I was right, it is sea water. There are even fishes along.

R - What the... That hardly makes any sense, but alright. It's raining seawater, and fishes fall from the sky. Nothing that unusual here.

I look up and see silver bolts flying around in the heavy clouds. Flying fishes, literally flying fishes?

R - Am I seeing this right?

B - I believe so. There are fishes swimming in that cloud. I guess a little piece of the ocean is there, travelling above land.

R - What... But... How come? Powers like yours can do that?

B - Well not mine personally, but that swarm of fishes perhaps does. It is an interesting evolution for them surely.

A scattered swarm of fishes travelling around by flying along their heavy cloud of sea water. That was unexpected, but at least it's interesting to look at. I also keep the few that fell to eat them later of course.

R - They don't have wings. How do they fly like that? It looks like they're swimming into the sky.

B - I can't be certain as I can't reach up there, but my guess would be that they keep up there the same physics as within water. The air itself up there is possibly as thick and heavy as water, or feels like it to them.

R - Well... No. I don't understand how a piece of ocean can fly around...

B - I think either they or other lifeforms in the water make it happen. Lowering gravity is rather tricky, but they're doing quite well it would seem.

R - It looks and sounds unreal... But it is quite funny to see. Nature sure has its fun in this new world... Well, it always had. But now that it can even overcome the laws of physics; wow. That's a real show of wonders. I hope I can see the giant snake again someday. And the giant wolf.

B - Many giants?

R - They were very curious, and rather nice. The moving shadows, I wouldn't say so of them however.

The swarm of fishes flies away slowly along with the clouds. The rain goes on but becomes normal again. I wonder where they're going. The Irish sea is quite far away. Who knows.

We keep walking under the rain. I'm in a good mood after that funny and unexpected encounter.
