(Rose)
R - What happened four years ago?
B - The world did change as they said. About that time, there was like a great flash of lightning in everything. I couldn't see what was occurring on the ground, but I felt that event too where I was. And starting then, the energy I was slowly, very slowly gathering to grow and make you appear began to flow like never before.
R - An energy flow? I don't understand.
B - Well it's a little like light for plants. It's a source of energy. The energy that beings like me use is another kind of source. Before that day, let's say I could slowly gather about a drop of it over years. Following that day, energy was flowing around like a rain all over me. After three years, I came to blossom and made my dream come true. I needed a lot of energy you see.
R - It's the same energy that turns humans and animals into monsters?
B - If that is their wish, mostly unwillingly, yes. Though the one I gathered was more raw than the kind that the people created beside you suffered from. It's like... Rotting fruits and alcohol perhaps? The people who appeared with you suffered from the alcohol I made and the lingering waves of it across the land.
R - While the world around was drowning in rotting fruits...
B - It may partially explain why everyone died so suddenly. Though I wasn't aware of it. It probably was like a tidal wave of chaotic energy running across the lands. Flowers like me felt it as a welcomed rain pouring over us, but mankind like a storm of deadly poison...
R - Thus everyone almost suddenly died or vanished as Zeslinry said. And nature changed. I guess the strange lifeforms we encounter are beings somewhat like you who could suddenly adapt and grow in the new world.
B - Most probably yes.
R - But where did that amount of energy come from? Was it a bomb that caused it?
B - I don't believe it was a human made weapon. It felt more like a sudden storm or a tidal wave. I can't say what made it happen. It ran from south to north at great speed however. So it may have a starting point somewhere since it travelled.
R - Some places may also have been spared?
B - I'm not sure about that. Following the flashing wave, it kept a flow, a rain, for a while, until everything was even. It was not quite like a single flash of light because energy in that form lingered afterward. The level of this energy rose greatly until it stabilised at a balanced level everywhere. For me, it felt as if the planet was dry to the core before, and I was struggling finding and gathering droplets of water. Then one day, it was as if the world was flooded with water, suddenly filling itself completely, and rain pouring until an ocean covered all earth. It settled at a very high level, and it didn't really recede since.
R - Water covering the world suddenly... It reminds me of the legendary tales of Mesopotamian floods. Excepts that the level never went down you say?
B - Indeed. It only calmed down, it settled on its movements. This ocean of energy I can live from is still covering the world, it's calmed down now, that's about it. I do not know where that ocean came from so suddenly.
R - If I were a believer, I would say god. The event has biblical proportions after all.
B - Your concept and belief of god resembles your one of love from where I stand. It looks subjective and complicated.
R - That's a good way to sum it up. And like love, passion for god killed more than hate for god. That may be why I'd rather not be passionate in my beliefs. Anyway, believers will see the will of god in absolutely anything and everything, so it doesn't help us understanding what happened. It may help us accept it, which is a different story.
B - It's like when you came looking for me. Because I created you in a way. You wanted to understand what I was.
R - Yes. I could have thanked god for this second life I was given for some reason. I do in my own way. But I also wanted to understand what made it happen, and I found you.
B - Which was my long hearted dream.
I laugh a little. The girl Myls is with us and tries to follow our talk.
R - Do you think a sentient being could be behind that catastrophic flood? A being like you?
B - It seems unlikely to me. I don't see at all where that energy could have been on Earth before, or been managed by a single organism. It's like water, oceans, I don't see any fish able to drink it all. From what I experienced, I would say it was like a volcanic eruption somewhere far away in space, in a distant stellar cluster, and the wave ran across space aimlessly until it splashed on Earth. I believe what happened is a cosmological oddity like a meteor suddenly falling onto Earth. No one could have predicted or orchestrated such an event. That's what I think.
R - Life a meteor, of exotic energy so... And it would have landed or crashed suddenly somewhere south.
B - That is what I believe happened. Earth was dry from this kind of energy before that event. So it probably came from outer space like some of Earth metals and elements. And now it's simply there, and life goes on.
