The door was beside the secretary's table. Raze walked to the door, he didn't knock and simply pushed it open and walked in.
As soon as he stepped into the office, it looked like he had entered a different mini world. It was a simple-looking office, yet somehow it gave off an ethereal feel.
The office was well-arranged, shelves and supplies to one end, files and documents to the other, everything so neatly arranged it looked impossible. At the center of the room was a wide black-colored table, and unlike the tables of normal workers, there was not a single file to be found on this table.
The only thing on the table was a black teacup with steam coming out of it. At the other side of the table, a man seemingly in his mid-ages sat there, his elbows on the table, his fingers together, and his head resting on the back of his hand.
He had jet-black hair, which worked really well with his abyss-like eyes and completely black suit-like jacket. It was as if this man was a heavy fan of black.
"Nice to see you, Raze." The man said in a low tone, but clear enough for Raze to hear. He leaned back into his chair and stretched a hand, signaling that Raze should take a seat from one of the two seats in front of the table.
Raze showed no hesitation. He walked to the chair and pulled one out. He sat down carefully, making sure to look relaxed yet not disrespectful.
He wanted to portray an image that he was not scared of being here. The headmaster nodded when he saw Raze sit.
"We might have met before, but let me introduce myself again, Raze. I'm Headmaster Lucas. I'm the one set by the kingdom to watch the happenings of this academy.
I'm also the one that signed your scholarship to this academy. It was a long process where the board had to vet if you were worthy of such an honor, and they found you worthy.
You showed that you were, in fact, the right person for the scholarship, but that was only in the beginning. I have been watching you, Raze, and sadly, the air around you has become too polluted for us to keep you as a student here," Lucas said in a flat tone.
"Those are a lot of words just to say I will be losing my scholarship. Honestly, I understand where you are coming from, and you are making the right decision as a leader.
But I know I have been in the wrong for a while now, and I want to change that. The past few days, I have worked to get everything fixed up and try to find a solution to my wrong behaviors in the past.
I got distracted along the line, but not anymore, so I want to make you an offer," Raze said. He leaned into the table and looked the headmaster in the eye.
The headmaster was fascinated by the fact that even in the face of expulsion, Raze had fight in him.
"It seems what I've heard about you is not entirely true. I heard you were weak-willed and a sore loser," Lucas said.
"That might have been so in the past, but people change, people grow," Raze responded.
"I see. So tell me, what is it that you want to say? And speak well, it might be the last chance you get to stay in the academy," Lucas said, his voice making it clear that this was a serious warning.
"The elite competition—if I can promise you that I will find a way to make our academy win, what would you say?" Raze asked.
Lucas's eyes brightened when he heard that, but they went dark immediately after. "How can a student like you ensure that we win? Are you trying to say you, in particular, will win?" he asked.
"That is one of the many options, but it doesn't have to be me, right? As long as I find a way to make us carry the crown at the end, that's all.
I know you might not believe in what I am saying and see it as nonsense, but I can assure you that I can make it happen," Raze said, his voice carrying a certainty that made the headmaster want to believe him.
"Hmm, I see. Well, you don't have to worry about you winning. All I want is for Alex to win. If you can somehow make his path easier, that will allow you to stay in the academy," Lucas said.
'Asshole, immediately running to the hero for safety. He believes Alex will win. Sadly, I have other plans,' Raze thought, but on the outside, there was a smile on his face.
"That makes it easier for me. I'll be sure to do my best," Raze said.
"Hmmm, that's good. I didn't think we would reach a good conclusion to your case, but it seems you are smarter than people give you credit for," Lucas said.
Raze smiled in response, but while he was doing that, he was getting ready to do some evil shit, like planting a smaller recording rune under the table. He had 650SP now.
So while he was talking to Lucas, he was simultaneously browsing for a small remote-controlled rune recorder that would capture information from the room.
Finally, he found a rune recorder crystal. It could record 360 degrees around, even from a hidden spot, and send the information to another rune crystal made for that purpose.
Sadly, it cost 600SP, but Raze had nothing to lose right now. All he could do was try and do this. He immediately bought it, and the one that he would plant appeared in his hand.
He got up and stretched out his hand to shake Lucas, and as he did, he planted it under the table carefully.
He had to do it the moment they shook hands because that was when Lucas was most distracted.
Today, his slow plan to take over the school came into play.
