Carlisle's crystalline left hand traced over the Eldar runestone. The ancient text burned scarlet translations into his retina:
"When starlight weeps into the bones of the betrayer / The aurora shall cleanse the fool's gaze / Should you dare to face the true visage of love / Let memory carve the heavens with its blade."
Iron Skull's chainsword suddenly shattered the stone, scattering fragments that revealed an apparition of Aetherlyn. With a gentle point of her finger, Iron Skull's helmet split apart, exposing half a human face and the other half a grotesque crystalline skeletal visage.
"An Apothecary of the Seventh Steel Legion—Hakon?" Aetherlyn's voice echoed as her apparition named Iron Skull. The Chaos warrior clutched his head, letting out a guttural howl, black blood-tears seeping through the gaps of his corrupted power armor. Taking advantage of the chaos, Carlisle broke free from his restraints and noticed that the labyrinth's walls, adorned with Eldar carvings, were reshaping themselves into a vivid depiction of Hakon's ancient campaign to suppress Black Rock's rebellion millennia ago.
"You were once the guardian of the seal…" Carlisle clenched a shard of crystal in his hand. "Now you've become the source of corruption!"
Iron Skull's roar brought the ceiling's crystal clusters crashing down. As he swung his chainsword, Carlisle's crystalline left hand instinctively blocked the blow, and the sparks from the impact froze mid-air, forming an aurora curtain.
