After thinking about whether Zane should just tell the truth or not, he finally made a decision. As Zane stared in front of him blankly, he looked towards Velrath again, seeing Velrath's staring at him strangely, he didn't waste another second and said.
[Well, you see. Earlier, I met Sylvaris, The Protector of Nature. I don't really know why she wanted to meet me, but, she said that, she had something to give me, something important that I would need someday. And that thing she wanted to give me... it was a divine egg. And the divine egg, she planted it in my forearm, before I left her dimension. But, it seems that only I can see the glowing mark in my forearm.]
Velrath stared at him with a neutral expression for a moment, then seconds after Zane finished speaking. His eyes slowly widened, his entire demeanor changed. However, surprisingly, he didn't look angry or aggressive after hearing about Sylvaris. He simply looked dumbfounded.
I mean of course he would, meeting a deity just like that just sounds so absurd. Velrath could barely say a word, after hearing Zane's words. Velrath's who was usually stoic, looked so shocked. He then said in stuttering voice.
[H-hold on, Zane... you mean, the reason why you suddenly disappeared earlier was because, Sylvaris summoned you in her dimension?! Not only that but she gave you a divine egg?!]
Hearing Velrath's shocked response, Zane then responded with a relaxed tone.
[That's right.]
Velrath didn't say anything for a while. He was still processing all the things Zane had told him. Velrath looked away from Zane's gaze, then put his hands on his chin, as if he was overthinking something.
Zane also looked away from Velrath, then looked blankly in front of him. 'Of course, that's not all.' Zane had decided to only tell the main reason for his meeting with Sylvaris. He decided to not say anything about the war, and also the certain someone who will possibly meet him one day.
Although they seemed to be in a friendly relationship, deep down, Zane still doesn't trust Velrath that much. After all, he was the former demon king, who once battled his grandfather, Wardell. Well, not only his father, but also humanity it self.
It was said that Velrath hated humans, and wanted to declare a war against them. Which basically resulted to his battle against Wardell. 'But, that's strange...' When Zane first met Velrath, he couldn't help but find Velrath's nature... too human-like.
Not only is his nature too human-like, but his appearance is also too human-like. Based on the books he had read before, demons looked physically terrifying, they were also 2x taller than a human. Aside from that that, they were describe as having a really large horns and fangs.
But, Velrath... his horns and fangs are short. He doesn't even looked like a demon at all, infact, he looked too handsome for a demon. If girls were to see him, they wouldn't even be able to focus on his demonic features at all.
That's why, Zane was suspecting whether the stories that was roaming around, about Velrath was true. Especially about the war between the demons and the humans. Could it have been contradicted? But why? After all, Velrath was descripted to be aggressive and terrifying.
Has Velrath been fooling him all along? Acting as if he was some kind demon to gain Zane's trust? Honestly, Zane didn't know. But, for now. It didn't seem to be the case, I mean. Base on his observation about Velrath, he didn't seem to be that type of guy.
He even offered him to be his teacher, and by how Velrath reacted when he saw the Kingdom of Ashveil from the inside, it just didn't seem like it. That's why all this time, Zane had been acting friendly with Velrath. However, he was also cautious at the same time. That's why for now, he will keep some of the important things from him for now, after all, who knows what that former demon king is scheming.
...
Moments afterwards, they finally arrived at Arcana Magic Academy.
"Thanks again, Ronin."
Ronin stared at Zane a moment, as if he was overthinking something. Ronin opened his mouth, as if about to bring something up, however he decided against it. He then smiled gently, and said.
"You're welcome, young master. And also, I am looking forward on you moving on the main castle"
A sense of awe could be seen in Zane's eyes, as he heard Ronin's words. Then, a soft smile could be seen on his tired face.
"...Thank you, Ronin."
Ronin then started to get moving, heading back to Ironveil castle. Seeing as the carriage started to disappear, he then released a heavy sigh. He then looked towards Velrath, who had a strange expression on his face.
Zane could immediately tell the reason for such an expression, although Velrath didn't say anything back earlier, he could tell Velrath was in deep thoughts. However, he decided not to mind it for now, and headed back to the dormatory.
Zane stood before a familiar door, a door that made so happy for some reason. He reached for the door knob and opened the door. It was pretty late at night so, Vale was nowhere in sight, probably sleeping already. It was also slightly dark inside the room.
Zane then headed towards his room, and went inside. He then hanged the coat he was wearing earlier, which he took off before coming inside the academy. He didn't want to look too flashy after all, and professors could tell that the coat he was wearing was enchanted. Well, either way, his entire outfit was enchanted so it didn't matter, he just didn't wanna look flashy in front of the other students.
After hanging his coat, he immediately lied down on the bed, not even bothering changing his clothes. 'Tired... man why am I tired already? I only fought like... three types monsters. Well, whatever, still tiring.'
Meanwhile, Velrath was on his usual spot, sitting on the chair in front of the table, inside of Zane's room. His arms and legs were crossed, and his eyes were closed.
