Chereads / Ashes of a Fallen Legacy / Chapter 7 - Body Possession

Chapter 7 - Body Possession

Zane could feel his heart beating faster as seconds went by. He was planning on going through the large wooden door of the library when everyone's focus shifted to the disaster that Velrath caused. But, it seems Zane will have to change plans.

However, Zane didn't know what to do. Although he had completely recovered all his mana, he didn't really have any magic spells that would make him stealthy. He was basically stuck in the library until he was found.

Aside from that, Zane didn't really feel like he had completely recovered all his mana yet; I mean, he could feel that somehow he already had his usual amount of mana. But its like his mana core is still not done storing mana's yet. Its like his mana core expanded. But, that's strange... How can that even be?

Zane also noticed that his mana core is not shaking anymore. He never even noticed it before because of how intense the situation was.

Zane placed his hand on his chest and closed his eyes. Trying to feel the mana flowing inside his body. He could somehow feel it; his mana core really was storing mana; could he be wrong? Maybe he really hasn't completely recovered his mana yet? Or maybe he was just imagining things?

'Damn it... Just what the hell is happening? So much is happening that my brain might actually explode.'

Zane sighed. He then greeted his teeth. Right now he was in a really dire situation, so he had to put that aside for now and somehow find a way to escape in here without getting caught.

Zane was staring on the ground, thinking deeply about something. He could already hear a lot of footsteps walking all around the library. Zane was on the very edge of the library, so it will most likely take longer for them to find him, but still, it isn't guaranteed he will remain unfound.

Velrath was flying really high, looking all around the library, scanning his surroundings.

"Wow, this is intense. What will you do now, kid?"

Zane's mind was in shambles; he really had no idea what to do. Its like he was simply waiting for his demise.

Velrath, still high above the ground, looking at the knights that were roaming around the library, he then said in a mocking tone.

"Hmm... you look like you are in need of help."

Zane looked towards Velrath; he looked at him blankly and said,.

"Isn't that obvious?"

Velrath smirked as he looked at Zane's troubled face.

"I can help you out, you know, however... it won't be free."

Zane's eyes widened. It seems Velrath really hit the spot. Zane paused for a while before responding; his face was serious and his tone was relaxed.

"What is it? What do you want?"

Velrath grinned; his face looked like he had a really mischievous plan. But Zane doesn't really have any other choice. He could only hope that Velrath wouldn't ask too much of him. But, looking at his face, that doesn't seem like it.

"Well, it's not really much. I will tell you everything later, once we get away from here. These knights are really annoying, you see."

Zane sighed; he then responded.

"Alright fine. But, how are you even going to help me escape? Don't tell me you are planning on bombarding your way out of this again!"

A smirk tugged at the corner of Velrath's lips; he then responded.

"No, no. Ofcourse not. It's going to be something entirely different, although I am not completely sure it's going to work. Well, I guess we can only hope it will."

Zane frowned, so in the end, it wasn't entirely guaranteed that he would be able to escalate, even with Velrath's help. However, he had to try.

"Alright, what's the plan?"

Velrath stared at Zane with enthusiasm. He then said it in a casual tone.

"I am planning on using a magic spell that will teleport us both to a certain place; however, it requires visualization, and I am not really familiar with this place. So, I am going to need your memories to do it."

Zane's brows furrowed in confusion; he then asked.

"Huh? But how?"

Velrath paused for a while, then said in his casual tone.

"I am going to need to borrow your body for a while."

Zane stared at him blankly. One glance at his face, and you could tell what he was thinking. 'Yeah, no...'

Velrath looked away from Zane's gaze, he then said while crossing his arms.

"Well, of course. I am not going to force you; I mean, I am not the one who is in trouble in anyway."

Velrath hit the spot once again; at this point, Zane really had no other choice. Zane could somehow feel that the knights were getting closer and closer, and some of them were also guarding the large wooden door.

Zane gritted his teeth, he then said forcefully.

"Fine, but how?"

Velrath smiled, then said.

"Good choice! I have only noticed this recently, but it seems that we are both connected to each other. That damn Wardell really thought ahead of me, huh. Anyways, I need you to sit down and for a bit and close your eyes."

Zane's eyes widened with shock.

'My grandfather? And what does he mean by we are connected to each other? Is it because I was the one who unsealed him?'

Zane sighed; there was no time for these thoughts. Zane then followed what Velrath was saying; he sat down and closed his eyes.

"Alright, then what next?"

"Just stay still like that, and don't move."

Zane listened to what Velrath said; he simply sat still, with his eyes closed, without saying any words. Velrath began to descend on the ground, getting closer to Zane; he slowly then started entering his body.

Velrath positioned his body just like Zane positioned his body.

To Velrath's understanding, he could basically enter Zane's body as long as he had Zane's permission; as long as Zane doesn't resist him, it would probably work. Aside from that, Zane's mind and body needs to be relaxed; Velrath wouldn't be able to enter his body since it would feel like Zane is resisting him.

"Now, Zane. Just calm your mind and body, as if you are sleeping."

Zane nodded and did as he was told. Zane could feel his soul colliding with someone; it felt... really weird. Velrath was now in possession of Zane's body; however, it seems that Velrath isn't really in full possession of his body since he could still move his body. Meaning he can resist all of Velrath's action if he tries to do anything.

"General! I can feel someone's mana on the edge of the room! I feel like someone is hiding there!"

However, a certain individual distracted Zane. Zane then felt his heart beating even faster and faster. His body began to crept into anxiety, and his mind was now in shambles.

'Shit!'

"Zane! Calm down!"

Velrath hasn't really completely taken over his body yet; he was half complete of resonating with his body, but it seems that his plan failed. His soul was now out of his body again.

"Crap, this is bad!"

"Zane! Listen to me! Calm down, or else you will really get caught!"

Zane then said in a stuttering voice.

"I'm trying, damn it!"

...

The knights have now started to come closer to the edge of the room where Zane was hiding. Zane could hear many footsteps heading to where he was, and it was growing louder as seconds went by.

"Everyone, don't let your guard down!"

The knights were now 5 steps away from where Zane was, carrying their heavy swords with them.

Now 4 steps away, then 3 steps away, 2 steps away, then 1 step away. Until they have finally reached where Zane was hiding.

"Hey, you said you felt someone's mana in this spot?"

"Yes, General Garrick, I did. But it's strange. It somehow disappeared."

The general stared at the spot for a second; he then went closer to it. It was quite dark, so he couldn't really see anything.

"Hmm... I can somehow smell a magic being cast around here."

He then looked towards the knight that was with him.

"He has escaped."
