Of course, Valtar had gladly taken the core of the archer and swallowed it without an ounce of gratitude.
On the other hand, he did not take Elmyra's core. He left it as is. He simply couldn't eat the core of the woman he had feelings even if the feelings were fleeting.
He washed himself in a nearby water source and removed all the blood and dirt on his whole body, changed his clothes, and wore another set of clothes taken from one of the dead archers' bodies.
After that, he started to think about his next step in the plans.
He could now go into western lands to hunt shadow beasts or enter the dark elf's area.
Just like the Fae folks, there was something eerie about the shadow area as well. Neither Dyona nor Elmyra had mentioned much about that place, making it seem like it was not very important, though Valtar himself felt otherwise.
It was unlikely that an area teeming with shadow beasts simply existed as a source of beast cores and food for the inhabitants of the jungle. There was likely something terrifying in the deepest part of that area. So, in a way, it maybe wasn't a good idea to go there. The choice left now was the elves.
So, he could only move forward in that direction.
Suddenly he remembered something as he said, "System unmute."
[ding…The system has been unmuted]
[Because of your sacrifice, your Karma has been rebalanced]
[You do not have any negative Karma anymore]
[You have earned 2000 Karmic Energy from sacrificing the one name 'Elmyra']
At first he was confused, then he became enraged as he growled at the system, "What do you mean by sacrifice?"
[As the one named 'Elmyra' was someone dear to the host, by killing her, the host has offset the negative Karma that has been on himself, or it can be said that because of the host's negative karma accumulation, this tragedy has befallen the host.]
"Are you saying it was because of you? That I had to go through this shit?" He bellowed.
[The system does not control karma, it is but an inanimate tool, the world itself offsets the negative or positive karma of all beings by the true concept of 'Karma' as its rules are set by '#%$%$#%$']
Valtar's head started throbbing the moment he heard those incoherent noises of the system, but this time an even more bizarre thing occurred as then he forgot about the incoherent thing mentioned by the system as if his memories related to it had been entirely erased.
[However, if the host wants to know if the world has manipulated your emotions to settle your karma, the answer is no.]
[host's memories could be tampered with to a minimal extent by higher existences, but your emotions and sense of self cannot be manipulated by anyone or the world itself]
Hearing this, Valtar calmed down, and a trace of sadness flashed on his face as he clutched his chest in pain, "So, everything, all of it that I felt for her, was real? Hah...very much real."
A part of him almost wished that these feelings were not real.
But the reality is always disappointing. How could the world be so kind to him now?
He shook his head and focused on another topic, which is his class as well the strange name of the stage that is in his interface.
Stage: 1 Mystic - Forge Weaver
Class: Sky Mystic
He naturally inquired the system about these.
[Host must gather general information about the path of power in this world]
[Host has gained the class but did not meet the requirements to activate the class.]
Valtar, "...."
He sighed in disappointment and then asked about the mystic energy attribute. Ever since advancing as a pathwalker, he could barely feel this weird flow of energy, he slightly noticed and felt it, and a part of him signaled that he could even influence it.
But he did not know how exactly to do that.
Just as he was about to ask the system.
[not enough knowledge] replied the system.
This time Valtar was truly furious at this useless piece of shit, just as he was about to curse, the system interrupted him.
[Mystic energy is the energy most likely used by the beings known as Mystics]
[On the other hand, just like how a magi need spells to manipulate the mana in the environment, special knowledge constructs of mystic energy manipulation are needed to influence the mystic energy in the air]
[And similar to how mages form circles through special knowledge and methods, the host needs access to such special knowledge to activate his class properly, at least that's what the system can infer.]
[Warning! This information is merely a hypothesis by the system.]
[Apart from some superficial facts, this world's operations are most likely nothing like the magi novels the host has in his memories.]
Valtar's brow twitched uncontrollably as he said in slight anger, "This useless piece of junk that can only draw conjectures from the novels I had read back then."
System, [...…..…..]
He then proceeded to ignore the system and started thinking about how he would proceed after entering the Dark elven tribes area.
After coming up with a basic plan, he first decided to change his sword to a less damaged one, he looked back at Elmyra's grave one last time and ran towards the Elven tribe area, never looking back.
——————————————
Right when Valtar was running towards the elven tribe's area, an unfathomably powerful entity was hovering 1 kilometer above the grave of Elmyra, looking at Valtar with keen interest.
Just as she was unfathomably powerful, her beauty was beyond mortal comprehension.
Her eyes were blood red, hair darker than even the darkest night.
An enchanting crown was upon her head, giving her an aura of absolute majesty that cannot be denied.
Every part of her body was so perfect that would put even Elmyra's breathtaking beauty to shame.
But what was surprising was that her face looked slightly similar to Elmyra herself, though not the same.
This was Fiora, the one who had a brief conversation with the Fae Queen Dyona. [on chapter 12]
Looking at the human's back, she said to herself, "How unexpected."
"To think the old foreseer's words came true. The boy did fall in love with this incarnation. Which, in a normal situation, should not be possible, there is practically no reason for him to feel so strongly for a woman who was his enemy moments before."
Yet his emotions were extremely strong towards the incarnation, even though Elmyra was the weakest incarnation.
So, the ones fated to be together are always drawn to each other.
Well, I suppose that makes sense since this is the first time in 600 years a trace of emotion has been transmitted to me.
Hmm, what is this emotion called? Uh yes, it should be called "pity".
That was the emotion transmitted to me through the incarnation in her last moments.
What the incarnation felt towards the human in her last moments was "pity".
And the more I observe the boy, the more this emotion seems to grow stronger. This is troublesome, if I stay close to the boy too much. I might have the impulse to start a conversation with him.
Still, this is not enough for me to take the human seriously. If fate brings you together with another incarnation without interference and similarly another emotion is transmitted to me through that incarnation, then it is possible that you truly are the key I need.
She then offered a soft smile and simply disappeared, with a slight expectation in her heart.
