Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Observation

Elyon's gaze lingered on the angels who screamed in victory and celebrated. Each of them carried a unique aura. Even Michael was smiling more than usual. Elyon smirked as he recalled what had happened to the Etruscan Pantheon. Even he hadn't expected such a grim outcome.

It seemed that the angels had rather eccentric personalities. Azrael was shy. Michael was like a highly efficient robot. Gabriel resembled an excited fangirl. Sariel was quite terrifying, Remiel was a battle addict, and Raphael was highly emotional.

And of course, there was Metatron. Elyon spotted him in a corner, crying while writing in his book. He seemed to take his duty of recording God's deeds very seriously.

No, rather, he absolutely loved it. Seeing Metatron's figure weeping with joy, Elyon's expression softened as he noticed little Jesus gently patting Metatron's back with a sweet smile.

For now, turning his gaze back to the world, Elyon saw that Adam and Eve were doing quite well. At the very least, they had advanced enough to care about wearing clothes.

"Unfortunately, the human population is growing too slowly." Elyon stroked his nonexistent beard in contemplation. Time on Earth moved faster than in Heaven. In the blink of an eye in Heaven, fifty years had already passed on Earth.

As the first humans, Adam and Eve could live for nearly a thousand years. With agile and healthy bodies, they were remarkably resilient. Likewise, they were resistant to almost every disease.

Elyon's gaze fell upon Eve's rapidly expanding belly. It seemed that Abel and Cain were on their way. Along with them, the arrival of the first sinner and the first death would soon follow.

No matter how much he pondered, Elyon couldn't understand why God chose Abel's offering. To him, God should have chosen neither Abel's nor Cain's sacrifice. After all, they were equal brothers.

Even if God had ignored both offerings, there would have been no chance of Abel and Cain becoming disbelievers. Seeing that God disregarded their sacrifices, they would naturally reflect on their actions and slowly come to understand why He had not chosen either.

After all, humans were still evolving. Their minds were rapidly developing to comprehend what they couldn't initially understand. That, in Elyon's opinion, was how it should have been.

Still, if Cain's personality was anything like the legends described, then Elyon would have no choice but to eliminate him. At the very least, he would show some mercy and test him first.

Elyon's attention shifted away from the Earth, returning to the empty white throne room. Noticing the piles of junk food wrappers scattered about, he waved his hand, and the throne room was instantly cleaned once more.

"These powers really feel like a dream." As faint fairy lights danced across his hands, Elyon smiled and turned his gaze toward a miniature version of the Earth.

"Let's check on the Sumerians first..."

His eyes landed on a city that could be called the Capital of the World. The city was Uruk, one of the most magnificent of the Sumerian city-states, ruled by Lugalbanda.

At present, there were exactly six civilizations in the world: the Mesopotamian city-states, with Egypt right beside them, the Indus Valley civilizations in India, and the Chinese civilization in Asia.

Although people still lived in Europe, Japan, and Korea, they had yet to establish their own permanent settlements. Dozens of scattered tribes roamed those lands.

Among them, Mesopotamia was the most advanced. Egypt, which had recently unified, was the closest rival, followed by the Chinese civilization. However, Mesopotamia was leagues ahead of both combined.

They excelled in divinity, technology, magic, and science. Even though Egypt and China were developing rapidly, Mesopotamia had been experiencing a golden age for a long time. Especially with Lugalbanda set to marry the goddess Ninsun, their strength would only grow further.

The Sumerian gods, however, were a separate problem for Elyon. Worshiped with absolute devotion by many Sumerians, these gods were incredibly arrogant.

Ever since Tiamat had been forcibly exiled, they had become even more conceited. So much so that they were constantly clashing with the Greek Pantheon.

For Heaven, they were the number one enemy. The Egyptian Pantheon was also powerful but plagued by internal strife, particularly due to gods like Seth.

The Chinese Pantheon, on the other hand, was divided among numerous authoritarian rulers. Countless powerful figures were engaged in an endless cycle of war, taking one step forward, two steps back, then two steps forward again.

For now, Heaven had no business with them. In the future, they would inevitably have to deal with the Mongols, who followed Shinto and Tengri shamanism.

By then, the Chinese Pantheon would surely grow strong enough to cause trouble, but for now, they were not Elyon's primary concern. Due to the current low population of humans and other races, the world was still in a state of cold war.

Only after humans multiplied and became more interconnected after the Common Era would this cold war possibly escalate into an actual conflict using them as pawns.

Thus, Elyon saw it all as a strategy game. In the end, he would inevitably clash with Chaos. Of that, he was certain. For now, both sides would increase their influence over the world through careful manipulation and strategic agreements.

Then, Elyon's gaze shifted to the island of Britain. At this moment, the Fairies were living in a sacred land called Avalon. There were humans as well, but their numbers were even fewer than the Fairies'.

The humans there were created not to serve other Pantheons but to be the slaves and servants of the Fairies. Given the personalities of the Celtic Gods, they would do everything in their power to make the island of Britain a land of non-human races.

"They look quite beautiful, but a little foolish," Elyon's gaze wandered over Avalon. As he watched the Fairies, who constantly laughed and played with useless, silly grins on their faces, he smiled.

Then, his eyes narrowed as he noticed something interesting. Outside of Avalon, he saw a young Fairy girl and a human boy talking, and he curiously observed them.

"But why should Fairies be superior to us?" the human boy asked the girl beside him. The girl quickly covered her friend's mouth as if she had just heard something terrifying.

"Idiot! If the Fairies hear you, they won't give you food," the young girl said with an amused smile. The green-eyed, black-haired boy stuck out his tongue. "One day, I, the great Merlin, will make humans supreme again. Believe me. We will no longer be the Fairies' slaves."

The girl giggled and laughed at Merlin. "I can hardly even imagine it, Merlin. You? Defeat the Fairies?"

Hearing the girl's delightful laughter, Merlin scratched his head in embarrassment. Then, turning to her with amusement, he said, "Even though you're a Fairy, you've never complained about me. That's why I'm going to make you my assistant."

The girl chuckled and sweetly rested her chin on her hand. She pouted and lightly tapped Merlin's head. "Idiot, I'm a princess. How dare you take a princess as your assistant?"

Merlin smirked slightly. "It would be good for you to be by the great Merlin's side. Just imagine me—conquering the world with a great army!"

Vivian giggled and looked at Merlin with amusement. "Are you stupid? Forget about defeating the Fairies; you can't even leave this place."

"Want to bet on it?" Merlin grinned with determination. Seeing his confident smile, Vivian furrowed her brows and pouted. "I'm not falling for your lies again, Merlin. Last time, my mother almost banished me from Avalon because of you."

Merlin felt a little guilty, but he quickly recovered and smiled brightly. "I promise. This time, I'm serious. But you'll want to hear my bet."

Vivian remained silent for a moment. Then, curiosity got the better of her. "What is it? Tell me."

"Alright, alright. Since you're insisting, I'll tell you my bet," Merlin said proudly. Vivian had to resist the urge to roll her eyes.

"I will explore the entire world, and if I succeed, you have to marry me."

"You—" Vivian froze for a moment, then blushed all the way to her ears. Merlin's ears were also a bit red, but he hid it skillfully.

Elyon, who had been observing everything from afar, smiled and chuckled at witnessing a love story unfold.

"So? What do you say? Will you accept?" As Merlin asked repeatedly, Vivian's blush faded, replaced by shyness. "I don't believe you'll do it. So, I'll accept."

Seeing Merlin's smile, Vivian quickly put on an angry expression. "But don't get the wrong idea. I'm only accepting to see you fail. Don't look for any other meaning."

Elyon, watching the sulking Vivian, smiled. He knew these two had quite the future ahead of them. Who didn't know Merlin?

The bearded ancestor of all wizards, the famous court mage of Camelot. And Vivian, the Lady of the Lake who would one day carry and protect Excalibur.

Seeing them as children like this briefly erased their legendary images in Elyon's mind. Instead, he felt that he was about to witness a drama-filled love story and made a mental note to watch them again later.

"Alright, then! After we get married, I want ten children!" Merlin chuckled. Vivian looked down and stammered. "Y-y-you idiot! We're still kids! What are you even thinking?"

Merlin laughed, while Vivian sighed and quickly brushed it off. She grabbed his arm and pulled him. "Come on, let's go. We shouldn't be late to Avalon."

"Understood, captain. Let's go!"

Watching Merlin's antics, Vivian just sighed, and the two ran off together. Elyon's eyes gleamed with amusement. But suddenly, his vision shook, catching him off guard.

Then, reacting swiftly, he drove away the attacker.

"A little punishment should bring you to your senses." Elyon smiled and exerted mental pressure on the attacker without a second thought. The opposing force, which had been resisting his power, instantly crumbled, and the enemy's mind took heavy damage.

"Ahhhhh!!!"

A woman's scream of agony reached Elyon's ears, but he merely smiled and ceased his attack, withdrawing effortlessly.

"That should teach them a lesson," Elyon murmured before resuming his exploration, turning his gaze to the other realms.
