Anyone who kills him will suffer vengeance seven times over. Then he put a mark on him and he went and settled in the land of Nod.
Nadia usually walked alone in the castle hallways. She was used to it. Normally, she'd be running at the tail of Bishop but he was in a meeting and she was free to roam the castle without disturbance from anyone not that anyone noticed her on any given day. She was an orphan, a nonentity but she didn't mind. The kings children Zil and Tub had servants attending to their every need all day. Nadia never got jealous. They might have all the attention, but she had all the freedom. Especially now when Bishop, high priest of Nod was in the conference room with the king and other officials. She planned to use her freedom to the fullest. On normal days, she would sneak into the kings library and study his maps. Nod was a beautiful place and she knew this only because of the wonderful creation of the window and the genius of maps. Nod was situated on one side an island which the maps call Du situated directly opposite Nod on the same island was the kingdom of Noch. These two were once one kingdom separated by a conflict we shall explore later in the story. When she wasn't studying maps or speculating the position of kingdoms she studied on maps, one could find Nadia climbing into forbidden areas in the castle. The castle was gigantic built by Bekhor-Bona the builder when Nod was still an infant city. Legend had it that Bekhor-Bona was the giant son of Cain and that he'd lifted rocks out of the water surrounding Du to build this castle. Anyhow it came about, the castle was huge and Nadia loved it. She had started exploring the ground floors of the castle as a baby and 6 years into her life, she wasn't done exploring half the castle. It was the only home she'd ever known. But today Nadia had taken a different interest.
"Where are you headed to?" The cheif servant said with an ugly scowl on her face. Bo had never faked a smile for Nadia. She hated Nadia but Nadia couldn't care less. It was one of the closest relationships Nadia had in this castle walls second only to the one between her and Bishop.
" Ermmm.." Nadia stuttered as she thought of an excuse to bail herself out of this one. Bo's angry eyes never shifted gaze. Nadia knew that Bo wasn't angry at her. The only time she'd seen Bo smile was when someone told Bo that she looked gorgeous. And Nadia could only remember that happening once. Nadia studied Bo's face.
" I'd also be angry if I had a face like yours" Nadia replied smiling with feigned innocence.
The red on Bo's face was visible. " You little...." Nadia turned around and dashed in the opposite direction leaving a bewildered Bo to think about the words she'd said.
" I'd have to find another way to the king's door." Nadia thought to herself as she studied the old architecture of this castle. " If I can't listen through the door, I'll just have to use the roof. By roof she meant the top of the king's court. The journey to the actual roof of the castle would take about 3 hours and the guards in charge of the higher portions of the castle came down only on very rare occasions. She was on her way there when Bo stopped her for no reason. Nadia grabbed a ledge and hauled herself up towards the ceiling opening a shaft that lead to the next floor. The hallway she appeared in was filled with hustle and bustle.
" I'm on a kitchen floor" Nadia said to herself. She couldn't count how many kitchens she'd been in. That's how huge this castle was. But she knew that anywhere there was a kitchen, there'd be activity. Hauling herself through the shaft into the hallway. She ran down the hallway and stopped directly above where she felt the king's court would be. The bent and put her ear to the ground. People passed around her but no one seemed to take note of her. After all who'd take note of an orphan in a castle as huge as this. She had two questions on her mind as she focused her hearing on the sounds below her.
" What had made Bishop so worried and how on earth did Bo always find her".
