Chapter 7 - The Day Of The Unified Awakening Ceremony

The darkness faded and light shone through, illuminating the world.

It was daytime, and the sunlight passing through the glass window awoke Ainsworth from his dream.

Looking at his familiar surroundings, Ainsworth thought, 'Was it all just a dream? It felt quite surreal.'

Rubbing his eyes, he left his bed and wore his slippers.

When he got out of his room and saw his older sister Kyla wearing a white blindfold, humming a tune while cooking breakfast for him, he cursed inwardly, 'Fuck! I wasn't dreaming!'

Maybe it was because he got out on the wrong side of the bed or because he did not want to accept the reality imposed on him; he really wanted it to be a dream.

However, looking at the best proof in front of him, Ainsworth knew it wasn't rational to keep living, thinking everything was a dream.

'Sigh, at least, looking at the bright side, I still have my older sister. Although her eyes were gouged out and stolen, I'd eventually recover them after I awakened a class today in the Unified Awakening Ceremony.'

While he thought so, Ainsworth was soon snapped out of his reverie when he noticed something so he couldn't help but complain, "Sis, the fried egg is about to get burnt!"

Surprised by her brother's sudden complaints, Kyla still took it out of the frying pan but she still retorted, "Look at it, the egg is still brown."

Hearing his sister's retort, Ainsworth facepalmed, "You don't wait for the egg to be burnt and then decide, 'Ah, it got burnt'."

It wasn't due to his God-Level Cooking, but even in his past life, he really couldn't stand his older sister's cooking. Or more like, when his mother and younger sister could cook for the family, both he, his father, and his younger brother would never let Kyla enter the kitchen.

Even his younger brother and father would rather let him enter the kitchen than let Kyla cook.

After all, there was a better option so why choose the lesser one?

Although Kyla wasn't that bad and exaggerated to the point she would cook a dark hotpot that could poison anyone, her cooking was still below average and she would occasionally burn the food.

Despite his complaints, Ainsworth still ate the breakfast cooked for him by his sister while teaching her to cook properly.

After eating his breakfast, Ainsworth checked at the time on the wall clock and noticed that he was about to get late so he thanked his sister for the breakfast and left immediately.

Arriving at the school campus, Ainsworth headed to the Awakening Facility, which was an open area with an awakening stone monolith situated at the center on top of a stage.

Below the stage, a few meters away from it, there were countless chairs and many students sat there with their class advisers.

Of course, the "many" students weren't that exaggerated in number, just around a few hundred students from seven classes in their grade.

Those seven classes weren't ranked according to their grade but just random. Ainsworth was in Class C-1 but that didn't mean Class B and Class A were superior to him.

It was merely a random arrangement. Due to that, he wasn't classmates with Elyndra and Mira.

Annoyingly, he was classmates with that "braindead young master" Caspian.

When he arrived inside the Awakening Facility, there were other students who arrived at the same time as him, and the girls among them couldn't help but turn their heads and look at him, like admiring a piece of artwork.

Ainsworth ignored it and headed to his seat immediately.

When Ainsworth arrived at his seat which was in the middle of Rian and Dante's seating arrangement, Rian asked:

"Bro, why you woke up late?"

In response, Ainsworth shrugged, "I was counting sheep last night, but it went out of hand and was over nine thousand."

Ainsworth's bullshittery went over Dante's head as he had closed his eyes and seemed to be sleeping.

Noticing Dante who was asleep, Ainsworth asked Rian while his thumb pointed towards Dante, "What's up with him?"

Rian snickered, "Before he took a nap, he told me that to hype himself up before the Unified Awakening Ceremony and prove that he was a manly man, he did three times his usual training routine and that's the result."

Ainsworth shook his head and knew that while Dante was above Rian in the school rankings, it still didn't change the fact that Dante was the most muscle-headed guy among their trio.

While Rian and Ainsworth were having a short conversation to pass the time, a red-haired young man with jade green eyes passed by Rian and Ainsworth, paused as if he remembered something, then turned his head towards them, and mocked them:

"I heard you got fooled by me yesterday?"

In response to Caspian's mockery, Rian performed the oldest trick in the book and asked Ainsworth, "Ains, did you hear something? I felt like a dog was barking."

Ainsworth shook his head and replied, "Maybe, but with how unpleasant that bark was, it should be a mutt."

Rian snickered, "Yeah, true. An inferior-breed mutt, followed by his two bitches."

The "inferior-breed mutt" mentioned by Rian was none other than Caspian while the two bitches were his two lackeys in their class that even now, were following behind him.

Caspian was about to retort but before he could make his comeback, a loud voice amplified by aura resounded throughout the Awakening Facility:

"The Unified Awakening Ceremony is about to start!"
