When Zifara arrived at the entrance chamber, she was shocked with what she saw inside. Her, as a dragon, retained all the memories of her kind from memories past.
The longer a dragon lived, the more it gained the wisdom and memories of its bloodline. And so, dragons never forget. Harm one in this era, and thousands of years after its death, there will always inheritors of that grudge. Why is so? Dragons were entirely made of the essence that made the worlds. Compared to magic beasts that have evolved, they were far superior in both intelligence and strength. Magic beasts have a pool of spiritual energy in their bodies while dragons were entirely made up of world essence which was far superior to spiritual energy.
Thus dragons were the apex predators, the rulers of worlds. Ferocious beasts that one couldn't easily offend. Just thinking about it was courting death. Even those tired of living wouldn't dare!
Memories of ancient ancestors came rushing into her like a hurricane. These runes were even legends to her ancestors. And now this whole chamber was riddled with them.
The ancient dragons were more powerful than the current pure dragons. Their bloodline was more potent. To compare the two was to insult the ancient dragons. They were noble and powerful. They could transcend into the heavens, cross worlds and cast terror with just their presences.
Why was it so? They did not speak the human language. They spoke the Rune language. That was their native language.
Overtime, when they saw that they were becoming vastly powerful, beyond the capacity of the universe in which they held supreme power, causing space to warp and eraze worlds with their mere presence, their elders of the back then decided to lock the memories of the knowledge of the rune language.
For the Rune Language was a language that, with every word, shaped reality. A sentence could give birth to worlds. And equally so, could annihilate the worlds.
And this was the language that has somehow been scribbled in this chamber.
Zifara and Rune both felt the insurmountable power contained in the chamber. They didn't even dare poke a finger into the entrance. The space warped and currents of energy flew chaotically in the room.
The moment Kay got into the room, the pain vanished and he felt a burden lift off his shoulders. He curiously looked around the room he had entered. The walls were etched in runes . Some similar to those pulsating on his arm.
Crack!
His head whipped in the direction of the sound. And on a pedestal he saw a shiny black object gently rocking back and forth. It looked like an egg. Only way too big.
Crack, crack .....
This fully captured his attention. He tentatively drew closer to the pedestal.
.....
The egg
It gently rocked back and forth as the dragoling inside repeatedly striked the shell with its head.
Crack!
With every butting of its head, the egg shell cracked further. The blueish veins coalesced into a bead of blue energy with every crack.
In no time, a small head poked its head out of the egg. It tasted the air with its small tongue and gave a small roar that came out pitifully small .
It looked around as if searching for something. It's head turned this and that way until its little eyes locked on a small kid besides the pestal.
The dragon had already regained a little of the memory of its bloodline. It knew the creature besides its nest was a human puppy.
It growled, flexed its tender wings, and cracked the whole egg shell. The blue energy bead gathered the essence contained in the chamber, rapidly draining it.
The dragonling growled and belched a breath of smoke mingled with some fire sparks. It jumped at the young human puppy's head and scratched his neck with its small talon before falling down.
Before Kay knew what was happening, he was already bleeding and scrambling away from the vicious hatchling. The blue energy bead that was rotating above the pedestal, sparkling with lightning on its surface, rushed with lightning speed and entered the wound on Kay's temple.
The energy entered his bloodstream and dispersed throughout his body. Some of the energy went directly into his dantian, and developed and replenished the kid's dantian. The rest integrated with his flesh. Making it strong and flexible.
Kay was bewildered, what was all this? The moment the shell energy entered his body, he felt a connection with the dragon hatchling. He could feel its thoughts. And right now it was tremendously hungry.
He looked at it with astonishment. Did he just obtain a life beast companion? A dragon at that! How fortunate, he thought.
He went and knelt down besides the weak hatchling. It rubbed its head against his, contently growling. He felt its joy to be finally out of the egg.
For thousands of years, she had felt her kin breathing fire on her egg, desperately trying to hatch her to no avail. Through their connection, she felt the frustration and fear of her sister, Zifara. She feared her sister would forever be trapped in her egg. She feared to eternally live a lonely life.
The Hatchling knew!
It knew her bloodline was different, it wasn't that of royal line. It wasn't as potent as that of the pure bloods. The blood that flowed in its body was that of the ancient dragons, specifically the ancient elders. And among the ancient elders dragons, hers was of the supreme kind, characterized by black scales, Void Walkers!
Her kind could not be hatched through ordinary means. Only in the presence of an anchor could she be born. An anchor is a human that has the right attributes compatible with the unborn dragonling. Otherwise, she would have never been hatched.
This kind of hatching method was locked away, along with the Rune language [ also known as the Draconian Language], in the memories of all dragons by elders of the dragons in ancient times.
....
Zifara blinked her eyes in bewilderment. Unlike her friend who stood beside her in ignorance, a torrential flood of memories filled her mind. Her head ached as her soul assimilated the memories. Memories dating back to her parents, grandparents, tribe, race....all the way to the memory locking era, and to beyond even that. All came rushing into her.
Before her was a dragonling of ancient times. Her own sister. To even think that they were from the same parents! This was legend coming to life. Deep in her soul , through the connection, she knew this world will never be the same again. With the hatching of this egg, a new era had been ushered.
This heralded new changes into this world! If not beyond!
