Chapter 1 - Prologue

This story is a fan fiction of Kohei Horikoshi's story, My Hero Academia (MHA for short).

Have you ever wanted to be famous, to be seen by people as a special person? As just... a somebody.

Well, I never had.

My true dream was to voice act in anime, both in the Japanese dub and the English dub. I've always thought the idea of seeing myself on stage was ridiculous and horrendous. Oh, and my mother had even worse thoughts about me being in the spotlight.

I, Emi Brown, am a gifted child who is currently in college—not to brag or anything, but at 15. I'm taking online college courses because I didn't want to be far from my sisters or father, but my mother thought. She can kiss my ass. My mother wanted me to work in the science field just like her, but I wanted to be nothing like her. That woman is an evil, chaotic bitch that put me through so much just because she considers me a mistake.

Whenever I interacted with that woman, I would always hear 間違い (Machigai) or mistake. I've always been the unwanted child, just like the middle child, Aliyah, but then there's the youngest child, Zuri.

Zuri is the sweetest, most innocent child out there. She is the ray of sunshine needed for this family to stay together. Avery, my mother, has said that Zuri and my stepdad are the reason the family is a whole.

Zuri looks just like my father in all of his handsome nature. I believe Zuri is kind of pretty, although her looks were meant to be on a man. Zuri gets praise from Avery for looking like her father, that perfectly sweet man. Aliyah looks just like Avery, but she doesn't like that she has a miniature version of her. And me...

I look like the man who put her through hell and back, my real father. I don't look exactly like him, but I look like a combination of both of them.

When he was in high school, Avery fell in love with a blind man who used crows as his eyes. On the day of Avery's 18th birthday, she went to meet up with the blind man, though the sweet man that she once knew wasn't there, and instead it was a hideous creature, a man sent from hell even. That evil man put his hands on Avery, and that is how I came to be. That's the reason my nickname was mistake and why back then she forced me to live through her torturous abuse until she found true love in my stepfather.

'Don't get famous and blast me online.' Those selfish words of Avery's were the reason I'm in this agency, to begin with. The reason I auditioned to be a part of an idol show is the reason my life fell apart from then on.

My dream of being a voice actress was put to the side. Emi Brown is not my name anymore. Instead, it is Emily Fukumoto, my idol name.

Apart from having brains, I was a decent singer and could help others if they needed it, but my dancing was atrocious. Never look at me for help with dancing, because I couldn't do it.

When I auditioned for the show, I never told my parents about it, so when I got accepted, I had to tell my dad and Avery. Let's simplify what happened then?

Avery got mad, and Dad got happy. Avery saw Dad happy she reconsidered and smiled on the outside, but on the inside, she wanted to kill me.

So now let's start the show.

.・゜゜・ ・゜゜・.

A brand new survival named Idol Society was made with the object of creating a Japanese girl group through K-pop training style in a well-known Korean pop agency Daffodil Entertainment. Two guy friends ran this company, one being Korean, the other being Japanese together to create a successful business, and the two each have their own sub-units under Daffodil. They thought it was a good idea to create the survival show since Daffodil had a Japanese counterpart to promote the company. Why not create an idol survival show marketed to truly whoever wanted to see it.

So here I am, running out of the bathroom just because I fell asleep since I didn't get enough time in the morning.

"Everyone, remember your groups for the show. If you don't have one now, just find a random one," one producer said.

Before the show could begin, everyone had to be placed in a group and pick a group ranging from 4 to 6 members.

I wasted my valuable time entirely, meaning I just had to find any group.

I have to do a quick process of elimination of what options are and for who I can befriend in the long run that can help boost my popularity credit.

"5 minutes, everyone," An adult shouted out for the girls to hear.

'Crap, I might be screwed. I just need anyone.'

I look around to see two cat girls sitting down in the corner of the room. One of them being a celebrity.

'Gotcha, I found one to go to.'

I went to them.

"Hey, the name's Emily. I'm in your group now," I bluntly told them, and they just agreed nonchalantly.

'I needed to find at least one more person, then we'll have a group of 4 altogether.'

"I'm going to go find one more member be right back," I said, then scurried away.

I needed someone, literally anyone. I had 2 minutes left, and if I didn't find someone, or else I'm done for. I had a feeling that if we didn't find our own groups, the producers would pick for us, and we'd be full of drama and craziness. I could just tell.

I was looking for someone, and I saw a crowd surrounding a random girl. I was trying to mind my business, but everyone was crowding her. It was quite obvious she was being overwhelmed.

Once the crowd moved to the side, I saw two they were crowding.

"Oh my god," I exclaimed to myself.

That girl is so pretty. How does she make navy blue look so pretty? And her salmon-brown curls were just so gorgeous. Everything about this girl was pretty.

We both locked eyes, and I became frozen in place.

'Wow, just looking at her makes me feel at ease, and look, she's running in my direction. She's like a gazelle, so graceful and just so beautiful.'

"Can I join your team?" The girl asked me, grabbing my hands. I nodded.

As soon as she touched my hands, I felt a spark in me that just made me fall so hard for her. Our presence together, oddly enough, made 3/4 of the room look at us.

"Quick, we need to go to your team," The girl rushed, and I could barely point at the cat girls.

"Oh, Kitty's group," The girl dragged me over to them, and that was it. I had fallen so hard for this girl.

It felt like the world was in the palm of our hands. Nothing else mattered.

Yep, I liked her. That was pretty obvious.

As we made it to the group, the producers and some judges grabbed the ones that needed a group and threw them together, either randomly or because they knew they would cause some drama.

"Hey, why don't we introduce ourselves? I'm Kitty Bank. I can speak both English and Japanese. My quirk is the Cheshire cat, and I've been training for 3 years in another agency." Kitty introduced herself.

Kitty Bank was definitely someone already well-known in America. I remember seeing her in some movie that went viral mainly because of her. Kitty has a good presence whenever it comes to her performing; maybe it's good to keep her around.

"Oh, don't mind me asking, but are you half-Japanese?" The other cat girl asked.

"Yeah, I'm half white, half Japanese," Kitty further explained to us.

"I'm Allison. I'm half Japanese and half French. I've been training for 1 year. My quirk is Cheetah." Allison said.

With auditions, she was a prominent person to me. I recognized her because her singing voice was like mine but just 10 times better. Allison is a very good singer, but she's very shy about singing. She auditioned with a rap performance, but she had to do another song singing because the judges said her way of rapping doesn't fit the way she looked.

"Ok, my turn. My name is Ai—wait, no, my stage name is Akemi. I'm fully Japanese, and I've been training for 4 years. My quirk is teleportation, and I can make my hair glittery," Akemi started.

Everyone looked at me, and to be honest, I was kind of at a loss for words.

When I auditioned, the judges told me one-on-one that I needed to use a different last name than Fukumoto, and I had to lie about how many years I'd trained because I'd trained none.

And quirk-wise, they'd keep it a secret. Wonder why they're agreeing to do all of this.

Because I'm pretty. Pretty privilege can really help you go far.

"My name is Emily...Sheresko. My quirk is some type of animal. I'm half Japanese, half Jamaican, and I've been training for 1 year." I lied to them.

Sheresko? What the hell kind of last name is that?

"Sheresko sounds cool. I wish I could've come up with a name like that," Akemi complimented me while holding my hand.

Never mind if she thinks it's cool, then so do I.

"Wait, let's think of a group name since we're going to be practicing for the show," Alison suggested.

"You might think I'm crazy, but what about quirky kids?" Kitty came up with a unique name that I could care less about, especially since we were going to be using this name like once.

After we met, we kept on practicing and practicing until it was time to perform our song. I believe our performance was pretty decent. The main problem with our group was our lack of dance skills since me and Alison weren't good dancers whereas Kitty and Akemi were impeccable.

Akemi definitely impressed me the most. Not only was she a great dancer and pretty but her vocals were definitely top tier. Akemi will become an idol. It's like destiny for her.

Kitty has great facial expressions. She knew how to attract the judges, which is a definite need.

After everyone performed their song for the judges, we were all categorized into groups that ranked our skills.

Alison and I were in C rank, luckily not the lowest E rank. Kitty was in B rank and Akemi was in A rank.

"Everyone, we have an announcement to make," The judges started as we were mingling with our ranks.

Uh oh, here comes the plot twist. What's it gonna be a battle against the ranks, random choice generator, mini-games?

Thinking about it, could it be a good thing?

"You all have, of course, been recorded, and the first episode will be out in two days." One judge started.

"But you will all be allowed to use your phones on days the episodes come out in Japan and you can't mingle with those in any other ranks but the ones you are in. Do so when the cameras aren't on," They informed us all.

For every good news comes bad news. That's how life goes, but this is tragic for me because I can only interact with Akemi weekly or if I'm lucky when the cameras aren't on, but that's from 9 PM to 5 AM.

Maybe when I get the time, I'll confess to her. I'll tell her my true feelings when I get the chance too and hopefully, when we are in the same group, we'll build our relationship further.

First mission, get the girl.
