Rotten eggs was brimming in the air. The usual cool breeze that would occasionally pass through the valley, now just seem imaginary. Temparature was rising but cold sweat still falls down from Phyxius's forehead.
After regaining his composure, he swiftly jump off the cart while pulling his sword out form its sheath. As he lands on the ground, he resolved himself to slay this damnable beast. "Father! Please turn back and head directly to the nearest Radiant Guild's outpost." Phyxius hurriedly requested his father while maintaining his focus on observing the creature. "No son, we will not leave you hear to figth that demon on your own." His father strongly responded, opposing his son's request."Father, I beg you, keep our family safe. You don't have to worry about me. I am trained and educated to slay this beast." Phyxius pleading his father to get out of the place. "But---." While his father tried to refussed him, the demon suddenly spreads its wings open. Phyxius did not missed this and readied himself for its incoming asault.
The demon jumped up and within a split second it dove towards him. Phyxius skillfully paried the demons attack and push it off to the side. The creature crashed on the ground and rolled for a couple of times before it pushed the ground and stood up. The beast growls, its eyes seem to be fixated on the cart and with just a single moment it again charges towards them but this time, it clearly aimed at his mother and sister. "Dash!!!... Greater fortitude!!.." After yelling his warrior skills, Phyxius instantly managed to get close enough and block its path. He was pushed for about a meter but was able to stand his ground and shove the creature back for about four to five meter.
It staggered for a bit and tried to collect itself. Within this brief moment Phyxius shouts. "Father please trust me!" His father, still shakin by the event that was taking place, perceived that they would just be a liability to his son. "Alright son but I will come back with reinforcement to help you out. Just be careful and don't even think about dying, you got that!" His father grieviously heed to his son's request. "You got my word for it father." Phyxius responded right away. "P-Phyxius please be careful!" His mom shaking in fear while her left hand holding his sister, hiding behind their stash and her right hand holding a small shield for protection.
"Brother! I don't care if your cool or not but just please com back alive so we can still play with the toys that you've made for me!" His poor little sister crying her lungs out for her brother. "Don't worry guys, I got this!" As soon as he said that, the demon lunges at him with consecutive slashes using its razor sharp claws. Phyxius gracefully paried the series of attack and yelled "Slash!" with the blink of an eye, he severed down the creatures right hand. It screamed in anguish as it watched its blood squirts from its missing hand. " Now father!!. Gooo!!!.." Without a moment's delay his father turned the cart around and slapped the horse's reins on its back. The horse neighed hard and dashed through the road, leaving only dust in its wake.
"Now that my worries are literally away, I shall show you what I'm truly capable of!". Phyxius posed in an upper guard position, storing mana to his sword and within a few of seconds, it emits a bluish light which caught the attention of the demon. It was confused for a moment but decided to leap once again, anticipating his big move. However, Phyxius was a second faster than the beast. "Head Splitter!" He swung his sword downwards leaving a trail of after images. The eye catching skill magnificently hits its target and as the name of the skill suggest, it splits the head of the demon into two.
"Haaa! It is indeed a very effective skill but it takes a long time to activate and use a considerable amount of mana. I need to optimize it and to consider changing the stance a little bit." As Phyxius was thinking of ways on how to improve his skill, He unexpectedly hears someone screaming. "Kyaahhhhhh!!!.." It was in the direction where their cart has gone. "What was that? It sounded like mom!" After realising whose scream it was, a sudden grim of a thought crept into his mind. " No no no no no no-Noooo!!!!.... T-They should have already gotten away out of the valley!" Denying this thought of his, he sprints to the location where he hears his mother's horifying scream. Yet, when he arrives at the scene, what he discovers was a gruesome sight.
The tang of blood and sulfur permeates through the air. Craking bones and gurgling blood resonates through the place. It wasn't really a very loud noice that you would feel its vibration in the atmosphere. Nevertheless, it was how Phyxius felt when he saw the horse that was carrying their cart, missing its head, his mother's lifeless body now its torso missing and his father being eaten alive, gurgling his own blood.
He was stunned for a moment after seeing the state of his family. He tried to scan the vicinity to see if he could find his little sister but couldn't bear sight of his father being mauled alive. He bolted to the demon who was munching his father up while yelling his skills. "Agi-up, Greater strength, and Berserk's fury! You damn beasts! I will rip you all into pieces! Ahhhh!!!..." This time, there were not only one or two demons but three of them. He slashed the demon that was too busy eating his father, in half. His father rolled in the ground after getting free from the demon's grasp. He wanted to run to his father's side and cast heal right away to save him but the situation isn't really allowing him to do so. The other demons are now charging at him with their razor sharp claws aiming at his throat.
Phyxius predicted the trajectory of their attacks and dodge them. He then manage to perform a skill in an instant. "Counter Slash!" The head of the closest one to attack him rolled over the floor and a fountain of blood burts from its headlese body. He tried to evade the incoming onslaught of the third demon but got hit by last claw attack. These claws are infamous for its potent venom, it will rot your flesh within 10 minutes if not treated properly. Well, that's only for those who did not attended the academy though, since all of the students their has been injected by serum called Lumen. Its the energy of the sun transformed into a liquid form. It's the UV (Ultraviolet) radiation, uniquely formulated in concentrations just enough for a ten year old child to survive. It's the very same thing that these demons avoided, since it could weaken them to a state where they would only be able to perform about half of their strength.
Phyxius just shrugs off the wound on his chest coming from the demons attack, which tore his upper clothing apart and revealing a magnificently trained body. The wound was only a little deeper from a scratch, so it did not really affected him rather it just adds fuel to his anger towards them. "It's that all you got? You're only strong facing the weak but you're all just a pathetic wuss who could only make a little more than a scratch on my body! Now, you will regret harming my family! I will mince you up so good and turn you into ground meat!" Phyxius then switch his guard to wrath guard. It's a type of a gaurd where the swordsman would put the sword onto his shoulder, like winding the sword for a diagonal slash. "Focus-up, Crit-up and Evasion-up!" He activates all the skills needed to perform his ultimate move. "Krraaarrhhh!!!.." The demon roared as it prepare itself to lunge forward with all its might and without a moment of delay, it crouches down like a frog and sprung up with an unbelievable speed.
Phyxius didn't falter and forcefully swing his sword diagonally and a burst of light shines through the area for a second, like lightning, striking between the clouds. "Lightning Slash!" He whispers the skill while the demons body slowly separates in half.
