Chapter 7 - A deal for her heart

The morning after the tense confrontation, Luna paced back and forth in her room, her thoughts a whirlwind of emotions. She couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal—betrayed by her father, and by herself for not standing up sooner. But now, she had a plan, and it was time to make her voice heard.

Downstairs, her father sat in the study, his stern face buried in a stack of documents. He didn't acknowledge Luna when she entered, but she could see the subtle shift in his posture—the slight tightening of his jaw, the tension in his shoulders. He knew she was about to confront him.

Luna walked toward his desk, her heart pounding in her chest. "Dad, we need to talk," she said firmly.

Her father looked up, his eyes narrowing. "I'm sure we do, Luna. But this is not the time or place for an emotional outburst."

"I'm not here to argue," Luna replied, her voice steady but firm. "I'm here to make a deal with you."

Her father raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued but unwilling to admit it. "A deal?"

"Yes," Luna said, crossing her arms. "If you want me to be part of the company, then you'll need to accept Sony. He's the only person who can take over. He's been managing his own real estate projects, and he's proven that he has the ability to run a business. If you really want me to be near the company, you'll have to trust me enough to let him in."

Her father's face turned hard. "That's absurd," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "You're telling me that this… this boy is the one who's capable of running my company?"

Luna's heart tightened, but she refused to back down. "Yes, I am. Sony is not just some random person, Dad. He's the one who's been helping me through everything—he understands me, and he understands business. You can't just dismiss him because of where he comes from."

Her father's expression darkened, and he leaned back in his chair with a smug smile. "Luna, you're too blinded by your feelings to see the truth. He's a gold digger. That's the only reason he wants to get close to this family—to get his hands on your inheritance. He's playing you."

Luna felt a wave of anger surge through her, but she fought to keep it in check. "You always say that, but you don't even know him. Sony is not a gold digger. He's worked hard for everything he has. He wants to be with me—not because of the company, but because of me. And you… you're the one who's always against the things that make me happy."

Her father's gaze hardened. "And you think I'm going to let him take over this company? To hand it over to a stranger? This is the legacy I've built, Luna. You think I'll just throw it all away for a man you barely know?"

Luna felt her chest tighten with frustration, her voice rising. "He's not a stranger, Dad! He's someone who understands me more than you ever have. Someone who has been by my side through everything, and you still don't get it. You're not the only one with a vision for the future."

Her father stood up abruptly, knocking his chair back. "Enough!" His voice rang out, filled with frustration. "I won't allow you to destroy everything I've worked for with your foolish decisions."

Luna clenched her fists, fighting the urge to scream. "I'm not destroying anything, Dad. I'm trying to give you a chance to see things differently. But if you can't accept that, then I'll have to make a choice."

Without waiting for a response, Luna turned on her heel and stormed out of the room. As she passed the hallway, she grabbed her mother's car keys from the table and rushed outside, determined to clear her head.

Her father stood by the window, his gaze filled with a mix of frustration and disbelief. He watched as Luna drove away, knowing that this argument wasn't over yet.

In the quiet study, he stood for a moment, contemplating what just happened. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps approaching. His wife, Linda, entered the room, her eyes searching his face for answers.

"What happened?" she asked softly. "I heard shouting."

"She's gone too far this time," he muttered, shaking his head. "She's blinded by that boy. She thinks he's the answer to everything. But he's nothing more than a gold digger who's using her for the company."

Linda sighed, taking a step closer. "I know you're upset, but maybe you should consider her point of view. She's grown, Harrison. She's not the little girl you used to control. She's capable of making her own choices."

He glared at her, his voice rising. "You think I haven't tried to protect her? I won't let her ruin everything we've built just because of some... infatuation."

Linda stood silently, her expression softening with sympathy. "She's not a child anymore. She has to learn from her own experiences, just as you did. If you keep pushing her away, she might just walk away for good."

Her father stared at the ground, conflicted. "I can't lose her. But I can't let her destroy this company, either."

Linda placed a hand on his shoulder, her voice calm but firm. "Maybe it's time you trust her enough to make her own decisions. Trust that she knows what's best for her."

Her father remained silent, lost in thought. He didn't have an answer, but the seeds of doubt had been planted.
