Chapter 9: The First Alliances and the Supreme Battlefield Test
Alex's POV
Alex sat on the edge of his bed, his fingers tapping idly against his knee. The moment he returned to his wooden house, he knew the real challenge was about to begin.
Global Chat.
If there was anywhere to gather information, it was here.
He pulled up the system interface, scrolling through the chaotic flood of messages.
[Global Chat]
Player_78: "WHAT IS THIS PLACE?! WHY ARE WE HERE?!"
IronShield: "Does anyone know how to get out? If someone helps me, I'll pay you in Manna Stones when we return!"
WeepingSoul: "I CAN'T SURVIVE THIS! I WANT TO GO HOME!"
SilverWarrior: "Anyone looking for a team? Strength in numbers."
FireFist: "Lmao, you guys are pathetic. My talent lets me shoot fire from my hands. Who wants to team up with a living flamethrower?"
StarGazer: "Some of us are actually enjoying this, you know? This is just a game. Adapt or die."
Alex's eyes skimmed past the messages, noticing a pattern—fear, desperation, arrogance, and opportunism.
Then, one name caught his eye.
John.
John was ranked fourth on the Global Ranking Board and had just made an announcement.
John: "I am forming an alliance. I have a Rainbow Rank Talent called Ruler's Weapon. If you want to survive, join me. My weapons are stronger than anything you have. But there's one condition—you fight using my weapons and follow my orders. This is The Ruler's Weapon Society."
Alex's fingers tightened.
Rainbow Rank Talent. That was already a rare feat, but the Ruler's Weapon ability had potential. Controlling weapons? Distributing them to allies? The offer sounded good on paper.
But something felt off.
A man like John wouldn't make it that easy.
Alex dismissed the thought of joining. He would rather fight alone than place himself under someone else's command.
His eyes flickered back to the chat as another name appeared.
Jonathan: "I am also forming an alliance: Pride of the Mighty. I have two Good Talents, a rare feat. Those who join me will gain strength and security. If you want to live, be on the side of power."
Two Good Talents? That was impressive, but still below Rainbow Rank.
While Jonathan's alliance wasn't as large as John's, people were still flocking to him simply because of the rarity of his talents.
Alex smirked. People were already worshipping power.
Then, two more names appeared.
Carl: "I'm forming the Gold Strength Alliance. If you're strong, join me. Let's hunt and fight like real warriors!"
Eric: "I'm forming the Truth Seekers Alliance. The strong will understand my path. The weak will not. Make your choice."
Eric's message was short, cryptic. Unlike the others, his talent wasn't revealed.
Alex frowned. A Rainbow Rank Talent without a description? That meant the system was keeping it hidden. Interesting.
Then, the system's voice rang in everyone's ears.
[SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT!]
"Player John has met the requirements for establishing an alliance. The Ruler's Weapon Society has been formed!"
In an instant, John's house transformed. The small wooden structure expanded, morphing into a fortified base with stone walls and banners displaying the emblem of crossed weapons.
A real headquarters.
Then, another notification came.
[SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT!]
"Alliance Function Unlocked. Players may now create and join alliances. Alliance members will receive a 10% strength boost when fighting against other groups."
Jonathan wasted no time.
[SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT!]
"Player Jonathan has met the requirements for establishing an alliance. The Pride of the Mighty has been formed!"
More alliances. More groups.
Alex sighed, closing the window. It was time to go outside.
But just as he stood up—
[SYSTEM ANNOUNCEMENT!]
"The first test of the Supreme Battlefield has begun: Guard and Defense. A Supreme Battlefield Ranking has been added. Rankings will be determined by kills and power."
John's POV (Rank 4)
John leaned back in his chair inside his newly transformed alliance building, watching the chat explode with messages.
"People are so predictable."
It was so easy to get them to follow him. Offer them strength, show them power, and they bend like reeds in the wind.
With his Ruler's Weapon talent, he could arm his followers with weapons stronger than any others.
And once they relied on his weapons…
They would be nothing without him.
A smirk played on his lips.
"Everything is falling into place."
Jonathan's POV (Rank 5)
Jonathan leaned against his doorframe, arms crossed.
Shadow.
The name at the top of the leaderboard. The only one above him.
His fingers twitched.
"I'll surpass him. I'll surpass all of them."
Everyone else? They were stepping stones.
And when the time came—
He would crush them.
Carl's POV (Rank 3)
Carl laughed, cracking his knuckles.
"A monster wave, huh? Good. I was getting bored."
He wasn't here to scheme like John. He wasn't power-hungry like Jonathan.
He just wanted a fight.
And now, it was coming.
Eric's POV (Rank 6)
Eric sat in silence, staring at his Rainbow Rank Talent.
The system had hidden its description from others.
Good.
He glanced at the ranking board.
Shadow. Celestina.
Only two names truly mattered.
"They will know my name soon."
Celestina's POV (Rank 2)
Celestina gazed at the messages with a calm, indifferent expression.
John, Jonathan, Carl, Eric. All scrambling for power.
Predictable.
They were playing checkers.
She was playing chess.
Her eyes flickered to Shadow.
A small smile formed.
"Interesting."
Alex's POV
Alex stared at the system notification.
Guard and Defense.
A new ranking board. A new challenge.
The chat was exploding again.
Carl: "HAHA! FINALLY! LET'S GO!"
Jonathan: "Tch."
John: "This is within my expectations."
Celestina: "..."
Shadow: smiles
John chuckled to himself, stretching his arms.
"Let them see my power."
The Supreme Battlefield had begun.
