Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: A Dream Come True

"Is this real? A dream, truly a dream!"

Aurelius could barely contain his excitement. He clenched his fists, his heart racing, and almost jumped in joy.

This was Mew—the legendary Pokémon! A mythical creature said to possess the DNA of every Pokémon.

With its ability to turn invisible at will, it was considered a phantom even when near humans. Scholars believed it to be the ancestor of all Pokémon because it could learn and use every known move.

Suddenly, the voice of the system echoed in his mind.

[Ding! You have successfully captured Mew. Please select one of its skills to acquire.]

In front of Aurelius appeared a glowing panel visible only to him:

Aurelius's eyes darted across the list of powerful moves, but his decision was already made.

"I choose Transform!" he thought.

---

In the next moment, a strange sensation coursed through his body. He felt as if he had become a Pokémon himself. His mind now held the knowledge and ability to transform into any Pokémon he had seen, allowing him to use all their moves.

Aurelius turned his gaze to Mew, who tilted its head curiously. When it saw Aurelius suddenly shift and transform into an identical Mew, its blue eyes widened in shock. It shrank back in surprise, floating a little higher in the air.

After a moment, Mew seemed to calm down. It floated closer, inspecting him cautiously.

"Mew?" Mew chirped softly, tilting its head. (Are you human, or are you one of my kind?)

To his surprise, Aurelius realized he could understand Mew's cries after transforming.

"Mew!" Aurelius responded, smiling. (I'm human, but from now on, you can consider me your kin. We'll share our fates and adventures together.)

Mew blinked a few times, then purred happily.

"Mew?" (But how can a human transform into one of us?)

Aurelius chuckled, quickly crafting an explanation. "Mew!" (I'm not an ordinary human. I have divine power. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to capture you with just one Poké Ball.)

Mew's eyes sparkled with awe.

"Mew!" (Divine power? Master, you're amazing!(

Completely convinced, Mew floated joyfully around him, no longer seeing Aurelius as a stranger.

"Mew!" (Master, let's go play! I know a spot with delicious berries!)

Aurelius shook his head, returning to his human form. "Mew!" (Not yet, Mew. We need to earn some money first.

Mew tilted its head. "Mew?" (Why do we need money?

Aurelius explained patiently, "Mew!" (I don't have much right now, just the Poké Balls and a little cash. To survive and catch more Pokémon, we'll need funds. I'll need you to transform into a Pidgey and help me win some battles. If we win, we'll have money for our journey.

Mew frowned. "Mew!" (I don't like fighting.(

Aurelius crouched down, his tone soft yet firm. "Mew!" (You won't hurt anyone. Just weaken their Pokémon enough to win. Use Hypnosis after transforming into Pidgey—it'll be an easy victory. No one can match your strength here.)

Mew hesitated, but Aurelius's determination was convincing.

"Mew…" (Alright, Master.)

With a flicker of pink light, Mew transformed into a Pidgey. It perched on Aurelius's shoulder, ready to assist him. Together, they began walking toward New Bark Town, determined to set their plan into motion.

---

The town was bustling with players who had chosen their starter Pokémon and were brimming with confidence. Groups gathered on the open fields, issuing challenges to one another. Most battles involved players pitting similar types against each other—Chikorita versus Chikorita, Cyndaquil versus Cyndaquil, or Totodile versus Totodile.

But then a loud voice cut through the noise.

"Two thousand Pokédollars per battle! Anyone brave enough to take on a reverse-type challenge?"

A teenager leaned casually against a tree, holding a Poké Ball. He smirked as a crowd gathered around him.

"Are you really accepting reverse-type battles?" a skeptical girl asked.

"Of course," the boy said with a grin. "My Pokémon is Fire-type. Beat me with a Water-type, and I'll pay you instantly. If I'm lying, you can report me."

The crowd murmured in excitement. Many were eager to take up the challenge, while others hesitated, wondering if it was a trap.

Eventually, the girl stepped forward, releasing her Pokémon.

"Go, Totodile!"

A red light shot out, revealing a playful Totodile. It hopped excitedly around its trainer, chirping, "Totodile! Toto!"

The boy smirked, casually tossing his own Poké Ball.

"Go, Typhlosion!"

A massive Fire-type Pokémon appeared, flames erupting from its back as the surrounding temperature rose dramatically.

The crowd gasped.

"Typhlosion?!"

Even the girl couldn't hide her shock.

---

The battle was about to begin, but Aurelius watched silently from the edge of the crowd. Mew—still disguised as a Pidgey—tilted its head.

"Mew?" (Are we fighting too, Master?)

Aurelius smiled. "Mew!" (Not yet. But soon, they'll all know what we're capable of.)
