Chapter 2 - Betrayed

Lila Montgomery and her mother were cruel devils. They were people who didn't deserve to walk the face of the earth.

Olivia sighed as she got into her car, if it hadn't been for this headache which she now considered a blessing. She knew not what would become of her. She would have died, that was for sure and it would be attributed as a natural death. She was being poisoned. Albeit slowly.

She tightened her hands on the steering wheel as she pulled out of the hospital yard. She still had doubts about Lila and Cassandra. Both women could be evil but Olivia didnʼt think they had the heart to do such a thing. They hated her, she could tell that from their words, actions, gestures but they didn't show it to others. To the outside world, they maintained the facade of a beautiful happy family.

There were only two people left that she could trust with her whole heart. Victor and Sophie Lane, her fiance and best friend respectively.

At the moment, she was headed towards Victorʼs house. Once they were married, which was in two months time, and also the time Olivia would gain full access to her properties as stated in her grandmother's will. She would make sure to show Lila and Cassandra their place in the Montgomery family. She couldn't inherit the estate unless she was married. That was the rule and it was the only impediment, at least for now.

She pulled up in front of Victor Hayesʼ mansion and got out of her car. Strange. Amidst the luxury of cars in the carport. Olivia noticed one that didn't belong to victor but at the same time, it looked all too familiar.

She suddenly had a hunch, a gut feeling that something bad was going to happen. She sashayed up the porch and into the house.

Bright lights!

She squinted her eyes in an attempt to adjust to the change. The hunch she had grew stronger as she ambled up the stairs.

That was it!

She knew that voice, it was too familiar, Lilaʼs, there was no mistaking it and she could hear Victorʼs too. She placed her ear on the door as she listened to them. Her hands shook terribly. They werenʼt having a normal conversation. Besides, what sort of conversation would Victor have with Lila?

As far as she knew, they both couldnʼt stand each otherʼs presence. When one was present, the other had to leave, willingly or not. She took a deep breath as she kept listening.

"Youʼre such a bad guy, dating two women at once." She heard Lila say on the other side of the door.

Ha! Why wasnʼt she surprised? She and Lila were not on friendly terms. They both only pretended to be polite in public to each other.

"Not like I had a choice." Victor replied. He was probably drunk, especially with the way his voice slurred.

She carefully opened the door, too catch the both of them in the act but the two couldnʼt be perturbed by her intrusion. They were so engrossed in each other that they both didnʼt notice that their privacy had been intruded.

"I need to leave, mum would be worried about me. Besides, itʼs high time I left." Lila told him.

"I wonʼt object." Came Victorʼs reply. Lila paused and looked at him with a grin.

"Really? But if it was Olivia , wouldnʼt you have cuddled her to stay?"

"She is different."

"Oh, but in what sense?"

"She has to be convinced that

Iʼm in love with her."

"Oh, so do you love me?" Lila

purred. An act that irked Olivia. She kind of enjoyed the show the two were putting up for her. Glory be to the good God that she and victor were not married yet. Even though they were, divorce was always an option but she was thankful she didnʼt have to go through the process.

"I do and you already know that. Do you need me to show you?" Victor asked holding up her chin.

Lila nodded and he instantly pulled her closer, blessing her with a mouthwatering kiss. How delicious!

For Olivia, it was disgusting! She took that same time to make her presence known to them as she was now fed up of their show.

"Victor." She called out as the both of them scurried apart from each other staring at her with wide eyes.

"Oh, I see you were both enjoying yourselves. I might just as well leave." She said to them. She didn't have to let them know she was shocked. She would rather hide it.

His betrayal hurt her, but she wasn't very much interested in victor. She had only learned to love him. Their marriage was based off agreement from both of their families. She might just as well opt out since Victor was not interested in her.

Lila was quick to recover, such cunning devil she was. It was a surprise to Olivia that she had even been startled in the first place.

"You should stay." She drawled. "The show was only just starting, right victor?" She looked over to Victor for support but was disappointed when he shoved her aside.

"W-we c-can explain." He said slowly.

"Explain what?" Olivia snapped. "Your plans to kill me?,

to shove me aside while you inherit my properties?"

She immediately cussed herself for revealing that she already knew their plans. She had managed to connect the dots together. Cassandra and her daughter wanted her dead and Victor was aware of this plot.

It made sense, now that she thought about it. They had been fooling her for so long. They both avoided each other only to prevent her from having suspicions about them.

"Lila, you shouldnʼt bother about coming home. You donʼt have a home anymore. You and your mother would be out on the streets this time tomorrow."

Yeah, she had the power to make that decision and she just did. She heard Lila ranting and shouting behind her as she turned on her heels.

"The only one who would be out on the streets is you, Olivia Montgomery. Youʼre just one

wretched bastard." Olivia laughed at Lolaʼs sudden outburst.

She had won and they had lost.

"We would see about that." Olivia replied within her as she went down the stairs.

No sooner had she said that, that she felt something collide with her. She and Lila tumbled down the stairs in the heat of their argument.

Olivia let out a muffled scream, the world titled around her as her heart skipped a beat. Her head was slammed unto the ground, the jarring pain ripples through her body, blurring her vision and awakening the headache that had stopped earlier.

She palmed the back of her head with her hands, seeking comfort from her touch, she felt the cold thick liquid flow down her arm.

Blood!

Olivia tried to move her body, anything to stop the searing pain

but her body had numbed and she felt too weak. She felt the strength in her slip away, her eyelids too heavy to lift forcing her into a state of coma.

Lila Montgomery paced the Hayesʼ mansion with her heart in her hands. The room was quite as a graveyard and the only sounds that could be heard was Lilaʼs forced sobs.

"What are we going to do?" She asked staring at Victor who squatted in front of Oliviaʼs unconscious body.

Ignoring Lila, victor checked Oliviaʼs body to see if she was still breathing. He breathed a sigh of relief as he felt her pulse. It was faint but she was still alive.

"Victor?" Lila called again. "Arenʼt you going to say something?" She asked.

Victor rose up seemingly fed up of her rants.

"I donʼt know if youʼre just

dumb, maybe itʼs a thing that runs in your family but me explain to you that when something like this happens. The victim is usually taken to an hospital." He blared.

Lila shook her head, almost immediately, as if to object his suggestion. Victor only stared at her, hands akimbo as he sighed.

"So what do you say?, what is your suggestion?" He sneered.

"I donʼt know but Olivia already knows our plans. Donʼt you think we should just leave her as she is?" She said.

Victor palmed his face as he weighed the options. He couldnʼt let her die but at the same time, if she died, they would be safe but if she didnʼt?, he didnʼt want to think about what would happen if that was the case.

"I know a place." He said absentmindedly. His thoughts had drifted and as he said that out, his mind suddenly slammed him aback into awareness.

"Go get the sheets." He

ordered Lila but was taken aback when she remained rooted to the spot. He raised an eyebrow questioning her.

"Canʼt you do that yourself?" She protested while he frowned.

"Do as I say or I would call the cops and let them know what you did." He threatened.

Lila scurried upstairs and came back seconds later, running downstairs with the bedsheets.

"Here." She said while Victor hijacked it from her hands. He covered Oliviaʼs body with it, wrapping her and making sure that her figure was completely hidden.

"Letʼs get going." He said to Lila as he carried Olivia out of the building. He shut the car booth after placing her inside it.

"What about her car?"

"We would find something to do about it." Victor replied as he drove the vehicle out of the parking space.
