Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Agreement

March 24, 2024, Sunday Night – 12:30 AM

"Arghhh! F**k it!"

Adan growled, running his hands through his already disheveled hair. With a reluctant sigh, he tapped the call button on his phone.

"Cut the crap!" Adan interrupted sharply, taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself. But the laughter on the other end only served to fuel his frustration.

"...It's you. Who the hell are you?!"

"A watcher? Are you seriously out of your mind?"

Adan let out a disbelieving laugh.

"Listen, dude, let's be real for a second. This is reality, not some twisted fiction. Returning to the past? Really? What kind of stupid game are you playing here?"

"You can't be serious right now—"

Adan frowned, his frustration mounting as the same cryptic line repeated in his ears. He decided to humor the stranger, though he didn't believe a word of it.

"Fine, yeah, sure. I'm Adan Emika, and I agree—whatever. Happy now?" he mumbled lazily.

With that single word, the line went dead.

"What the f—?" Adan stared at his phone in disbelief. "I swear, this guy is insane."

His thoughts were interrupted by a crackling sound coming from the TV. His head snapped up. He had turned it off earlier—he was sure of it.

The screen flickered to life, static hissing and crackling like white noise. Adan reached for the remote, trying to switch it off again, but nothing happened.

"Great. Now the TV's losing it too," he muttered, but the noise grew louder, almost deafening.

Suddenly, the static gave way to a cackling voice—familiar yet distorted, like it was coming from a distance. The screen flickered, showing distorted images: flashes of people he recognized, moments he thought were long buried in his memory.

"What the hell…?" Adan whispered, his eyes glued to the screen.

As the images on the TV became clearer, he realized with growing horror that they weren't just random memories. They were his. Adan stumbled back, gripping the edge of the couch for support.

The world around him felt like it was shifting. The faint hum of the static seemed to envelop the room, and the air grew heavy. A nauseating wave of vertigo hit him, making it hard to breathe.

"No...no, this can't be real," Adan muttered, his voice trembling.

The screen flickered one last time before going dark. At that exact moment, everything around him seemed to dissolve. Adan's apartment, the couch, the phone in his hand—all of it faded away into an overwhelming darkness.

When he opened his eyes again, he wasn't in his apartment anymore. He was standing in a place he hadn't seen in years—a time he thought he could never return to.

The confusion was palpable. Was this a hallucination? A dream? Or had he truly been transported back into his past? Adan's heart raced as he tried to make sense of the impossible.
