Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: A Murder Case

Early 1993, shortly after Valentine's Day.

Snake X, a thousand-year-old solitary elder, met a tragic end.

Months earlier, its boss and superior Tom X had used a Gryffindor redhead's body to open the prison door that had confined it for fifty years, facilitating its successful escape.

Snake X was moved to tears by this. It immediately promised to reform, behave, and return to being a proper snake.

Superior Tom X was pleased with its spirit of reformation and specially set numerous petrification KPIs for it.

Snake X threw itself enthusiastically into work, achieving outstanding results by petrifying 3 people and 1 ghost, earning commendation from Superior Tom X.

However, in the past month, it suffered a series of misfortunes.

First, its superior mysteriously disappeared, then its residence was attacked by criminals.

According to victim Snake X's testimony:

On the day of the attack, it was awakened from its 500-square-meter bed by commotion at the door.

A young garden snake hissed for help, claiming it was being hunted and seeking refuge.

As a thousand-year-old snake, it couldn't ignore a junior's cry for help.

Back in the day, it had protected all snakes within a hundred miles of Hogwarts!

So its mighty body burst through the door!

But the cry for help was false, and snake-killing was true!

Criminal Rooster X was lying in wait at the door. With one loud crow, it scared Snake X into fleeing until cornered.

Though thousand years of life had given it some resistance, the continuous crowing still left it disoriented.

Enraged, Snake X immediately deployed its secret technique—death glare, furiously staring at Rooster X and mastermind Jane X.

But its attack was blocked by Jane X's sunglasses and mirror, nearly backfiring on itself.

However, the thousand-year-cultivated Snake X wasn't defenseless—besides death glare, it had death coil!

It immediately wrapped its tail around Rooster X, attempting to strangle it!

But Rooster X fought back fiercely, flapping its wings and crowing loudly, causing severe mental damage to Snake X.

Accomplice Phoenix X, sensing its mother Jane X and father Rooster X in danger, rushed to the crime scene.

Phoenix X showed no respect for elders, breaking in with a sleeping thousand-year-old hat, throwing the hat aside to join the battle, attacking Snake X with sharp beak and claws, leaving it covered in wounds.

If the notorious outlaw Zhang San were to judge, Accomplice Phoenix X's vicious behavior would surely warrant twenty years.

Snake X strongly protested this treatment, resisting violently, thrashing and spraying venom, leading to a stalemate.

Seeing the situation worsen, murderer Jane X quickly joined the fight, forcibly waking Hat X and making it disgorge a murder weapon—one sword.

While Phoenix X viciously pecked Snake X's eyes blind, Jane X grabbed the weapon and stabbed Snake X's vital point.

Snake X let out a final wail before tragically departing.

According to murderer Jane X, victim Snake X left final words:

Hoping for fewer black-hearted bosses like Tom X and S X who abandon their employees and flee alone.

Truly heartbreaking for all who hear it.

...

Jane was satisfied with the garden snake she'd caught in the greenhouse.

The little snake was very cooperative—just a slight squeeze at its vital point made it hiss loudly.

Its cries successfully triggered the sink at the Chamber's entrance, allowing the full assault force to advance.

It later achieved another success, breaking through the Chamber's second line of defense by luring out the Basilisk.

Afterward, she rewarded the snake with a small lamb chop, completing their transaction happily.

The garden snake was reluctant to leave, indicating it would welcome similar opportunities in the future.

Unfortunately, Jane couldn't understand Parseltongue and heartlessly returned it to the greenhouse.

After the exhilarating battle, she had planned to force Fawkes back to the dormitory to destroy the diary, but the phoenix fled with the Sorting Hat faster than anyone, even abandoning the brave old rooster.

With no choice, she returned the constantly crowing rooster that had disturbed the girls' dormitory to Hagrid's chicken coop.

She fed it some lacewing flies stolen from Snape's storage as encouragement.

...

After killing the Basilisk, she had two tasks remaining: first, use Basilisk venom—the legendary unstoppable, highly corrosive poison—to destroy the diary; second, create false evidence of her attempted attack using the Chamber.

To save time and quickly achieve her goals, she decided to complete both tasks simultaneously.

So she opened the diary again, and words appeared almost instantly:

"Have you considered? Your heir is waiting for you in the Chamber!"

"They can't stay long—if you don't decide quickly, you might miss them!"

This immediately drew a sneer from Jane.

Look at this Tom Riddle, just like a health product scammer!

Even knows how to create urgency for clients!

"I have the will but not the strength, child," she wrote. "A thousand years have left my body weak, with insufficient magic to continue."

The diary paused, taking a while to absorb her ink before new words appeared:

"Is that so? What would it take for you to recover?"

Jane held back her laughter and continued writing:

"There is one way, but it might require your help... ah... never mind... I shouldn't burden you."

The diary's writing became messy again, its owner's urgency apparent:

"What way? I'm willing to help you, sir!"

He quickly received Yu-Salazar-Slytherin-Jane's reply:

"This is... so touching... you're such a good child."

"If you could just... transfer some magical power to me, I could visit the Chamber, see my pet, meet my heir."

"Such a kind child like you would surely help us reunite, wouldn't you?"

The diary began trembling, and Jane could feel its owner's inner struggle, so she added more bait:

"Of course, I, Salazar Slytherin, won't let a youngster give without return."

"After we meet, I'll share my wealth hidden in Hogwarts castle and the magic stored in my pet."

"That wealth is my life's savings, and that magic has accumulated for centuries... they could help you reach the pinnacle, child."

Finally, large words appeared on the page, ending with an emphatic exclamation mark:

"It's my honor to serve you, Mr. Slytherin!"

Jane felt magical power surge through her hand where it touched the diary.

She felt refreshed and invigorated.

Her body filled with power!

She casually cast Aguamenti, and the water sprayed like a Gatling gun.

Looking back at the diary, she found it had withered significantly, its pages yellow and curled.

Faint gray writing appeared intermittently:

"When... will... you... act?"

Jane smiled:

"Soon... after I make some preparations!"
