At night, Melanie received a text from an unknown number: "You have two days till the anniversary. End things with other men before that time." Immediately, she knew it was Aiden.
The next day, Melanie couldn't shake off Dr. Austin's words. She was distracted by shouts and screams from other students. They were all checking their phones and pointing at her.
"What's going on?" Melanie asked, approaching her class.
The same scene repeated itself. Feeling conflicted, Melanie turned to Sofia as she entered the classroom.
"Hey, Mel," Sofia said.
"Hey," Melanie replied, her voice laced with concern. "Sofia, do you know what's going on? I've been receiving countless stares."
"Mel, you receive countless stares everywhere you go. This isn't the first time," Sofia said awkwardly.
"Something's not right, Sofia. You know that. Why can't you tell me? If I find out from another source, I won't talk to you again," Melanie warned, her voice trembling.
Sofia hesitated before speaking. "Mel, I just don't want you to get hurt. Check the school group."
Melanie opened her phone to find Xander and Cassandra having sex in his car.
"Mel, are you okay?" Sofia asked, noticing Melanie's frozen expression.
Xander entered the class, approaching Sofia and Melanie.
"Mel—" Xander began.
Sofia slapped him.
"How dare you, bitch!" Xander shouted at Sofia.
"I can't believe the prestigious scion of the Williams family can be so uncultured," Melanie retorted.
"Why? Why did you do it? Why did you have to cheat? Tell me why!" Melanie demanded, tears streaming down her face.
"Mel, I—" Xander attempted.
"Save it. We're done. This relationship is over," Melanie declared before walking out of the class.
Sofia followed Melanie out. They sat in the school garden.
"Hey, Mel, it's going to be okay. Men are scum," Sofia said, trying to persuade Melanie.
"First, it was my parents, and now Xander. Why do I have to lose things I care about? Why?" Melanie sobbed in Sofia's arms.

Melanie showed Sofia the message Aiden sent.
"Uhm, Melanie, why are you showing me this message?" Sofia asked, confused.
"Sofia, when I lost my parents, I found out I was engaged to Aiden Williams."
"Wait, Mel, you're engaged to Aiden Williams? THE Aiden Williams? Girl, I'm happy for you! This is the best breakup revenge I'll ever witness!" Sofia exclaimed.
"Sofia, what will people say?" Melanie asked.
"Fuck others' opinions. Just do what you want to do. Become Mrs. Williams," Sofia said happily.
"Sofia, something's wrong. You're being too excited. This is more than drama itself," Melanie chuckled.
"Well, you know the Blackwood family, right? And their only child, Liam Blackwood? Liam Blackwood and Aiden Williams are childhood friends, like brothers. If you marry Aiden Williams and I kinda make Liam Blackwood fall in love with me, we can become sister-in-laws, and our children will be cousins," Sofia said happily.
"Aren't they, like, 10 years older than us?" Melanie asked.
"Well, I like older men. Older men do it better," Sofia said, daydreaming.
"Do what better?" Melanie asked curiously.
"They know how to pleasure their women better in bed," Sofia said.
"Ewwww, Sofia, you're so dirty-minded!" Melanie laughed.
"Hey, Mel, we need to go shopping for our future husbands. We need to be sexy, and since you're the main character for the anniversary, you need to wear black. Black makes people sexy."
"Okay, okay, Infanta Sofia, I'll do as her highness wishes," Melanie said, laughing.
The bell rang, signaling that all students were summoned to the assembly hall.
Principal Johnson announced, "Mr. Williams has given the entire school a holiday on Friday, which is tomorrow, for your shopping and all things you'll need for the anniversary. Secondly, an explicit video of Xander Williams and Cassandra Bowen has been shared on the school group. They will be punished when we resume on Monday. Please respect their privacy."
Melanie and Sofia waited as Xander walked closer.
"Uhm, the leech is approaching," Sofia said sarcastically.
"Mel, can you—" Xander began.
"It's Miss Melanie Bates to you, young Master Williams," Melanie cut off.
Meanwhile, in the presidential office of Williams Corporation, Liam and Aiden discussed their plans.
Mike walked in, bowing. "Preparations have been made, and Miss Bates is already on her way to Dr Austin.
Get the helicopter ready; we're going by air," Liam said.
"Yes, sir," Mike replied.
Liam and Aiden arrived at the Echo Continental Hotel, opposite Dr. Austin's office.
Mike handed Aiden the Viper, loaded with bullets. "It's been long since you held a gun. I'm happy to witness this event," Liam joked.
Liam took the telescope from Mike. "I'll tell you the direction to shoot."
Melanie arrived at Dr. Austin's office and was ushered in by the receptionist.
"Good afternoon, Dr. Austin. I'm Melanie Bates. We spoke on the phone recently, and you said you had information about my parents' death," Melanie greeted.
"Miss Bates, please sit down. I performed the autopsy on your parents. While doing so, I—"
Liam signaled Aiden through the telescope. "90° west and 50° north, move two inches down, and shoot."
Aiden aimed and fired.
Melanie screamed as the bullet pierced Dr. Austin's head.
The receptionist rushed in, horrified. "Oh my god! Call the police!"
Melanie stumbled out, covered in Dr. Austin's blood.
