Chapter 2 - The Realizer Appears

The fluorescent lights of the Denver Police Department flickered faintly as Detective Jin Carter sat at his desk, staring at the preliminary report from the forensic team. He had read it over a dozen times, but the words didn't offer him any clarity—only more questions.

"Specific frequencies detected," Jin muttered to himself, tapping the paper with his pen. "But no evidence they can affect human physiology."

The report confirmed the presence of a peculiar frequency among the electronic devices collected from the victims' homes, particularly the radios. Yet, the forensic specialists had assured him there was no scientific basis for these frequencies to induce the comas or deaths. Jin leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his unkempt hair. The conclusion felt wrong, incomplete.

"It has to be connected," he thought aloud, ignoring the bustling noise of the precinct around him. "There's no way it's a coincidence."

Despite his intuition, there were no actionable leads. Days passed without progress. Witnesses offered no insight, and the recovered devices continued to reveal nothing conclusive. The case stagnated, and the mounting pressure from both the public and his superiors only deepened Jin's frustration.

Eventually, the investigation was shelved as a cold case—a term that left a bitter taste in Jin's mouth. The victims remained in comas, their families without answers, and Denver's collective anxiety began to fade into reluctant acceptance.

Two weeks after the Denver incidents, news broke of an eerily similar event in the neighboring city of Rabia. Jin first heard about it through a late-night call from Officer Carla Hayes, one of his closest colleagues.

"Jin, you've seen the news, right?" Carla's voice was tense over the line.

"No, what's going on?" Jin asked, sitting up in bed.

"Rabia. They're dealing with the same thing we had here. Mass comas, sudden deaths, no explanation."

Jin's chest tightened. He immediately turned on the TV, flipping to the news. The headlines confirmed Carla's words: Rabia Faces Mysterious Coma Epidemic.

"I'm heading there tomorrow," Jin said resolutely.

"I figured as much," Carla replied. "Just be careful, okay?"

The next morning, Jin arrived in Rabia, its streets hauntingly quiet. The local police precinct was abuzz with activity, officers scrambling to manage the influx of calls and rising panic among residents. Jin introduced himself to Captain Marcus Levin, the officer in charge.

"Denver, right?" Levin said, shaking Jin's hand. "Heard about what happened over there. Looks like we're in the same mess now."

"I need access to everything you have," Jin said. "Victim profiles, scene reports, electronic devices… especially radios."

Levin raised an eyebrow but didn't argue. Within hours, Jin was buried in paperwork and surrounded by boxes of evidence. As he sifted through the information, he couldn't ignore the parallels between the two cases. The victims varied in age, profession, and background. They all fell unconscious on the same night. And once again, peculiar frequencies were detected in their homes, emanating from radios or other devices.

Despite the similarities, the evidence in Rabia yielded no breakthroughs. The frequencies were recorded, analyzed, and dismissed as harmless. Jin's frustration grew with each dead end. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was missing something—some vital piece of the puzzle that would make everything click.

One night, after hours of fruitless research, Jin stepped outside for fresh air. The crisp night breeze did little to clear his cluttered mind. He gazed up at the stars, their distant light offering a momentary sense of calm.

"You look like a man carrying the weight of the world," a voice said from the shadows.

Startled, Jin turned to see a man leaning casually against a lamppost. He was dressed in a dark trench coat, his face partially obscured by the brim of a wide hat.

"Who are you?" Jin asked, his hand instinctively moving toward his holster.

"Relax, Detective," the man said, raising his hands in mock surrender. "I'm here to help. Call me Tom. Or, if you prefer, the Realizer."

Jin studied Tom warily. "The Realizer? That's quite a title. What exactly do you 'realize'?"

Tom smirked. "The truth, Detective. About your case. About Denver. About Rabia. And about the world as you know it."

Jin's skepticism was palpable. "You know something about these incidents?"

Tom nodded. "More than you could imagine. But before we dive into that, tell me this: Have you ever wondered why those frequencies keep showing up? Why they don't fit any conventional explanation?"

"Every day," Jin admitted reluctantly.

Tom stepped closer, his tone growing serious. "Those frequencies aren't just random noise. They're signals, Detective. Signals that link this world to another."

Jin's brow furrowed. "Another world? What are you talking about?"

"The Alpha World and the Beta Worlds," Tom replied cryptically. "Two dimensions, intertwined yet separate. And those frequencies? They're the cracks. The bridges between them."

Jin stared at Tom, trying to gauge his sincerity. The man's words sounded absurd, yet something about them resonated with the strange patterns he'd observed.

"You're saying these incidents are caused by some... interdimensional phenomenon?" Jin asked.

Tom nodded. "Exactly. And I'm here because those cracks are growing. If we don't act, the consequences will be catastrophic—for both worlds."

Jin's instinct told him that Tom was more than just a rambling stranger. There was a conviction in his voice that hinted at knowledge far beyond what anyone else had offered.

"Why should I trust you?" Jin asked cautiously.

"Because I'm the only one who can show you the truth," Tom said. "Come with me, and I'll prove it."

Jin hesitated. Logic told him to walk away, to dismiss Tom as another conspiracy theorist. But deep down, he felt a spark of hope—a belief that this enigmatic man might hold the answers he desperately sought.

Finally, Jin nodded. "Alright, Realizer. Show me."

Tom smiled. "You won't regret this, Detective. But brace yourself. Once you see what I'm about to show you, there's no going back."

As they disappeared into the night, Jin couldn't shake the feeling that his life was about to change forever. The mystery of Denver and Rabia was only the beginning—and the true scope of the danger was yet to be revealed.
