Chapter 3 - Casper Vs Three Goblins

They say that our senses become heightened in a life-threatening situation.

This was one of those times, Casper could feel his pulse rate, his vision became sharper and the goblins cracklings grew louder.

He knew he could die any moment from then but his body seemed stuck to the ground.

"Why won't my body move?"

The goblin with the bow pointed his bow at Casper, an arrow appeared on the bow, it seemed like it was going to shoot.

Casper's' hand was still on the dagger but his arm refused to respond to him and his legs seemed to be paralyzed.

For the first time Casper felt fear… he couldn't even think straight, his goals, his dreams and all he had practiced it was all going to end here.

The goblin let go of the arrow and at that moment Casper's body finally responded allowing him to dodge the arrow. Casper leaped to his right and with that short movement he had barely dodged the arrow resulting to the edges of the arrow coming in contact with his arm leaving him with a slight injury.

"You managed to lay an injury on me" Casper got on one knee, he could feel his blood pumping fast and the adrenaline rush, he smiled. He wondered to himself, he was in danger and with no abilities, he was at a disadvantage so why was he smiling?

"i guess it doesn't matter, I will just have to kill the three of you" He yelled and ran straight for them.

The goblins immediately attacked, Casper tried remembering what he studied on Goblins.

Another arrow came at him, he leaned downwards to avoid it, the goblin with the arrow was a Goblin archer, bad at close combat but incredible when it comes to a long range battle, same as the one with the staff, probably a mage goblin.

Normally he will have to take care of the archer and mage first but…..

A dagger was going for his head, Casper acted quickly by moving backwards, held the goblin's arm and gave it a palm strike. It immediately coughed blood and fell to the floor. The goblin with the dagger would have been a nuisance so it was good he got rid of it.

"Now the…." He felt a sharp pain from his arm that sent him to his knees, it was from the injury of earlier. Blood was flowing fast with some green substance mixed with it.

"Damn it, Poison"

He tried to stand but the pain just increased making him fall on his knees again. The archer shot another arrow and the mage shot a fire ball.

"Shit, so I actually die here" He muttered to himself closing his eyes.

He waited for some seconds, nothing happened.

"Am I already dead?"

He opened his eyes to see a woman, he couldn't catch her face since everything was becoming blurry because of the poison.

"Damn Kid, you look awful but not dead"

"The Goblins, stop them" Casper said before slipping unconscious. The lady laid him down, both goblins sent another attack. She flicked the air and the pressure not only nullified the attacks, it also tore the goblins into bits

Just then another hunter joined them

"Fiona, who's the kid?"

"Angel! Heal the boy and when he's awake bring him to me, something urgent came up" Fiona said that before taking off into the air..

"There she goes again leaving all the work for me" Angel sighed.

He knelt beside Casper and observed his body.

A smile crept to his face, "This Kid, he doesn't have any mana flow and yet he took a goblin down" Angel placed his hands on Casper's chest to check if he was dead yet and to Angels shock, he wasn't.

"You're alive after that much poison, you're something else"

Angel decided to heal him, he had planned on leaving the boy to die but this boy seemed to have potential.

His smile grew wider and creepier.

"I can't wait to see how you grow"

Fiona landed at a deserted hospital, it was abandoned after a dungeon outbreak occurred there, as she walked through the ruins, she kept on wondering about what she saw, she had arrived early when she was informed a dungeon break was about to occur but when she got there someone had already died and a boy stood there, she wanted to move in when the boy moved and started attacking, she purposely left the boy because she thought he was a hunter in training.

But when she examined his body, he didn't have any mana flow, knowing that she couldn't help but feel regret.

He could have died, any sane person would run for their life.

But he decided to fight anyway, he has the potential her master has been talking about, a human with no mana flow.

She stood like she was expecting someone. From what she had seen today, none of it made sense, according to studies every human has a mana flow even those with no abilities of their own. So how could that boy have no trace of mana, she needed more info…..

"Lost in thoughts again"

"Yeah, took you long enough Ethan" Fiona sighed

"Telepathy isn't easy you know, especially since the receiver is somewhere far from civilization"

"I had to come here so that we won't get seen, you were the one that suggested I do that if I ever wanted to contact you"

"Fine, what do you want? You haven't called in months so what's up?"

"I found a boy with no mana, wasn't that what you were looking for?"

There was silence for some while.

"Fiona, if you're not kidding, meet me at the usual place with the boy"

Ethan cut off the telepathy, if what Fiona said was true, then he had to prepare.

A new era was about to begin.
