A soft breeze drifted through the open window, carrying the scent of fresh roses and morning dew. Sunlight filtered through sheer curtains, casting a warm glow over the grand chamber's lavish furnishings. Ornate carvings adorned the mahogany walls, and a crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, glittering with an almost ethereal beauty.
In the center of the room, a young boy stirred beneath silken sheets, his eyelids fluttering as he slowly regained consciousness. His delicate features were marked with a hint of confusion, and as his emerald-green eyes opened fully, they reflected a mixture of unfamiliarity and unease.
Leon Everhart, second son of the prestigious Everhart family, had awakened.
His small hands clenched the blanket instinctively as he tried to make sense of his surroundings. The memories in his mind clashed—fragmented images of a life long gone intertwined with foreign recollections of a world he did not know. The sudden weight of realization pressed down on him. He was no longer who he used to be.
Before he could dwell further, the sound of the door creaking open snapped his attention to the entrance. A tall, graceful woman entered, her silver hair cascading over her shoulders like moonlight. Her emerald eyes, mirroring Leon's own, filled with tears of relief the moment they landed on him.
"Leon, my darling... you're awake!" she gasped, rushing to his bedside.
Leon blinked in surprise as the woman—his mother, Evelyn Everhart—gently cupped his face, her touch filled with warmth and tenderness. Her worried expression softened into a radiant smile, though traces of exhaustion lingered in her features.
"You've been asleep for days, my love. I was so worried..." she whispered, brushing a hand through his soft, dark hair.
Leon remained silent, his mind racing. The emotions in her voice felt genuine, sincere. A part of him—the part bound to this new life—recognized her presence as comforting. Slowly, his lips parted, and the name slipped out unconsciously.
"Mother..."
A joyful sob escaped Evelyn's lips, and she pulled him into a gentle embrace. "Yes, my dear, I'm here. Everything will be all right now."
Before Leon could respond, an excited voice rang out from the hallway.
"Leon!"
A blur of motion burst into the room as a girl, no older than ten, dashed toward him. Her chestnut hair bounced with every hurried step, and her bright blue eyes sparkled with relief and excitement. Without hesitation, she threw her arms around him, nearly knocking him back onto the pillows.
"You're finally awake! I was so scared!" she cried, squeezing him tightly.
Leon recognized her instantly—Rachel Everhart, his elder sister. The remnants of unfamiliar memories resurfaced, painting a picture of a sister who was fiercely protective and utterly devoted to him. Despite the suffocating embrace, a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"I'm... fine," Leon said softly, patting her head with his small hand.
Rachel sniffled, pulling back just enough to look at him, her expression a mixture of relief and annoyance. "You better be! I'm not letting you get sick like that again!"
Evelyn chuckled, placing a hand on Rachel's shoulder. "Let your brother breathe, sweetheart. He's still recovering."
Rachel pouted but didn't move away, instead clinging to Leon's hand with a firm grip. "Fine... but I'm not leaving him alone anymore!"
Leon gazed at them, a strange warmth filling his chest. The care and love in their eyes were undeniable. Though his mind still struggled to process his situation, he couldn't ignore the comfort their presence provided.
As the golden morning light streamed into the room, illuminating the faces of his new family, Leon made a quiet resolution within himself.
"This is my new life... and I will make the most of it."
