Hazel sat in her room near the window recalling everything from earlier.
she had cried so much that her eyes were swollen. her father made her favourite cinnamon tea to help her get better.
she was confused, so confused that she didn't know what to think... she felt so heavy .. the weight on today's event still lingered. she tired to shake it off but the distain look in Mr sterns face kept intruding .
she folded her knees to her chest as fresh tears welled up her eyes as she stared at the rain hammering against the window.. mirroring her chaotic heart.. she wiped her tears, when suddenly the shrill ring of her phone cut through the gloom.
she got startled and little. who could be calling at this time? she wondered. she walked to her bedside table and picked up the phone.
It was an unknown number.. she hesitated a bit since unknown numbers didn't bring her Good news in the past, but in the end decided to pick up.
"hello"? she croaked, her voice hoarse.
"Ms. Roberts, I've reconsidered.
I'd like to offer you the position"
Hazel was speechless, she became speechless the moment she heard and recognized the voice of the caller.
before she could reply the person continued, " My assistant will contact you with everything you need to know" and with that the call ended.
Hazel felt disbelief wash over her.
This couldn't be real. She took a moment to stabilize her racing heart then without a moment of hesitation,
Hazel rushed downstairs, her bare feet slapping against the wooden floorboards. She run into the living room where her father was sitted , her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Dad! Dad, you won't believe this!" she exclaimed, breathlessly.
Her father looked up from his book, a little panicked and confused .
"hazel, What on is going on?"
"I got the job!" she cried, throwing her arms around him. "The job at stern's mansion! Mr. stern ... h..he called me ! He offered me the job!"
Her father's eyes widened. "What? But… but I thought the interview didn't go well."
hazel pulled back, her eyes sparkling. "I know! I know! But he reconsidered. he told me that I've been offered the job."
Her father beamed, his pride evident. "That's wonderful news, sweetheart! I'm so happy of you." He pulled her into another hug, his embrace warm and comforting.
hazel leaned against him, savoring the moment. This was her second chance, a testament to her perseverance and her unwavering belief in herself. And she knew, with absolute certainty, that this time, she wouldn't let it slip away.
